Arcade Fire – Haiti Lyrics

Man, I was just nonchalantly listening to Funeral and realized this song was called Haiti and the words struck me(I know a little French). It's pretty eerie how a lot of it fits the tragedy that has struck there recently. It made me very sad and I hope the country's same spirit that prevailed then will once again. <3 |

Edith Piaf – Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien Lyrics

all of these translations and breakdowns have been really helpful to me. i think basically, even if the true meaning is varied slightly, it's really easy to just "get" such a beautiful song. like you can feel between the lines...and it floors me. |

i love this song, but i'm kind of embarrassed and a little disappointed because i thought the words were "i don't wanna die without shakin' up a leg or two" hahaha. that image made me happy. |

of Montreal – Beware Our Nubile Miscreants Lyrics

a few things about this song:
the beginning sounds very much like the end of no conclusion, which i really liked.
i really dig the "ahh"s in the second verse, it reminds me of an old 50's song.
i looove the end, especially the scream after "you cannot have me" very prince like.
and lastly, i can't help but think of chuck bass from gossip girl when i hear this song.
it's so catchy though, i love it, i figured it'd have more comments. i'd be really interested to know who it's really about, what a guy. |

interesting opinions about this song. whatever "if you ain't sweet to me, i'll dessert you in a heartbeat, if you don't savour me, i'll salt you make you savoury" may mean...i just love it. it's clever one way or the other and even if it's morbid, i find it endearing.. |

"i lead the butcher farm"? really? that doesn't make sense. i always thought he said "i'm neither butch nor femme" since it's all about being into whatever sexually. anyone else? |

thanks for some of the previous posts explaining the possible meanings of the song. i was wondering because from what i know jerry brown was a pretty decent governor. but i totally understand if it was a "warning" about power and how even seemingly good people can change when given too much. |

they do it again and again...this song is so awesome. i've had it on repeat for days! i am just thrilled for the new album. as well as being super catchy and danceable, the lyrics are very smart as per usual. love it. kevin barnes is genius. |

Lily Allen – Littlest Things Lyrics

does anybody know who wrote what in this song lyrically and musically? i read that it was a collaboration between lily, mark ronson, and santogold, and i was just hoping that the words came from lily allen herself..because i like the way she seems in her songs, it makes me feel connected to her. and i don't think i'd feel the same about her music otherwise. it'd be a bummer. i love this song. |

first of all, i love whoever said "this song is a babe". secondly, this song is going to practically be my theme when my boyfriend leaves for the military soon : (
at least it's cute enough to make me somewhat warm and fuzzy in his abscence. |

The Modern Lovers – Girlfriend Lyrics

It's "If I were to walk through the Museum" and "I'd have found something that I understand"
I. Love. This. Song. The guitar solo is lovely. The imagery is charming. I love that he spells girlfriend the way he pronounces it. I love the idea of understanding love and art going together..or rather not worrying that one doesn't understand art because they now understand love. It's adorable and makes me want to go to Boston terribly. |

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I think it's about being in love with a self destructive person, but love bearing all these things. He sees something in this person worth the challenges, possibly even despite the subject's unwanting of his affections.
"I go to bakeries all day long, there's a lack of sweetness in my life" floors me. |

how in the world are there no comments on this song(or many others of jonathan richman/modern lovers)? this is an amazing song about the velvet underground and their profound influence on jonathan. vu's influence on music is inmeasurable, but nobody applies it like jonathan richman. |
