Tori Amos – Give Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is definately about S&M! The song plays with the idea of giving yourself to sexual desires. In this instance Tori is singing about how the idea of pain and punishment allows herself to be sexually free. Some examples are:
"I crossed over the line / Do I have any regrets / Well not yet"
"Some say it was pain / others say it was shame"
"Some give blood / I give love"
To me these lyrics convey how pain and pleasure are the same thing to her; that with pain she gets pleasure. Others lines like: "Soon before the sun/Before the sun begins to rise" make me think of sex and how this lifestyle has to be lived in the darkness where other people cannot judge.

And the title itself conveys the right emotion on S&M: GIVE. You gotta give yourself to it or else you cannot experience it.

Tori Amos – Programmable Soda Lyrics 16 years ago
i think the song is about the type of girl who will be what a man wants! everyone loves soda and everyone has thier favourites. but the girl is saying "well i am whatever soda you want! make me the way you want and you'll enjoy". and once she ends the relationship she'll return to neutral and change for the next man in her life! she is what YOU want

Tori Amos – Parasol Lyrics 16 years ago
i think this song is about a modern woman in a relationship and has decided that it is time to leave the relationship for whatever reason and face the truth. The metaphor of the parasol is being an old fashioned lady almost a real woman something which is very different from modern times.

"my world will change for me" means that change is coming and "I stare at the wall knowing on the other side, the storm that waits for me" that she knows what she's about to do is going to create 'a storm' with the relationship. she knows what's gonna happen.

the chorus:
the Seated Woman with the Parasol
may be the only one you can't Betray
if I'm the Seated Woman with the Parasol
I will be safe in my frame

i think this talks about being an old fashioned woman with a parasol - the parasol doubling for protection. when she talks about betrayl i think she means herself - she can't betray the real woman inside of every woman. I also think that the "frame" would be her dress and clothing with petticoats and corsets - the dress holds her up and protects her for whatever is to come

:)

this is one of my favourite TORI AMOS songs! i

Björk – Triumph of a Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song! At the moment (meaning sometime in the future, another of her spngs will become my favourite [it always happens]) this is my favourite song! I love her voice, the sounds, the lyrics, everything.

The song is just so simple as well: it is comprised of her singing about the human body and how everything works together by the heart; it's saying what a good organ the heart is - It also saying about love and the amazing power of the 'emotional' heart.

Tori Amos – Cornflake Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe everyone who has had an opinion on this song is right; really, there can't be a wrong answer.

As with a lot of people I think the song is about the conflict between women. I think that 'cornflake girl' and 'raisin girl' doesn't neccessarily mean that girls are 'flakey'.

I believe Tori Amos is referring to a cereal box: in any cereal box you find cornflakes and raisins; there are lots of cornflakes (or conflake girls) but not as many raisins. therefore raisins (or raisin girls) are a lot harder to find.
