Brand New – Okay I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song, & apparently so does everyone else! I saw Brand New in concert this past weekend, & when they played it everyone in the whole place sang along, which was cool, except I couldn't hear Jesse! But anyway, I'm not sure if anyone's said this already, but I heard that Jesse wrote this song in first person point of view as if he were Adam Lazarra...

Jane Siberry – Calling All Angels Lyrics 16 years ago
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Yes, I cried when it was played at the enf of Pay it Forward. It's about how there is pain and suffering in this world, and we're all bleeding and broken, but it's the pain and the sorrow that allows us to see the beauty in the good times. One day we'll leave this imperfect world for one where there is pain, but for now the angels will help us through this one.

Incubus – Drive Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song is a realization of the meaninglessness of old ways & a decision to take charge of your life & stop following the crowd. I think it has to do a lot with alcoholism, mainly because of the lines "will I choose water over wine & hold my own & drive?" If he gives up drinking, not only will he be controlling his own life but he will quite literally be able to "hold his own & drive." Also, the line "whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there, with open arms & open eyes" indicates to me that he intends to face life & whatever it brings sober. That's just my opinion, though.

Alanis Morissette – Hands Clean Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song. The emotion is so real. This is how I interpret it:
As a teenager, Alanis is dating a much older man, quite possibly an executive in the music business, as other have mentioned. ("If it weren't for me you would never have amounted to very much"). She thinks he loves her, & keeps their relationship a secret as he asks, because it would be considered a crime. He tells her "I might want to marry you someday" but later she finds out that he was just using her, & has no intention of doing so. He acts like nothing happened. ("What part of our history's reinvented & under rug swept?")

Harry Chapin – Cats In The Cradle Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song. My dad used to play it all the time when I was really little & it's the first song I remember ever knowing. It wasn't until recently that I thought about what it means, though. Even though my dad & I have a good relationship the lyrics are so powerful they bring tears to my eyes. It's showing that parents have a great amount of influence over thier children, so don't blow it.

Brand New – Seventy Times 7 Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is amazing. There's so much emotion. I love to listen to it in my care when I'm angry.
"Everyone's caught on to everything you do"
I love that line. It reminds me of my former best friend.

Lori McKenna – Bible Song Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so beautiful yet heartbreaking. It reminds me of the small town in Michigan where my step-father grew up & where his family still lives. It's about wanting to get out & find something better so you don't end up spending your whole life in that town & dying there.
