Placebo – Without You I'm Nothing Lyrics 17 years ago
wow, this song hit me hard. it is by far the most emotional and powerful of all thier songs
i love the way the song builds up and up to "without you i'm nothing" i think thats what takes the song to a whole new level coz you wait for it as its buliding up. the guitar break near the end is awesome and really fits in with the buildup

i think its possible this song is about unrequited love. this person is singing there heart and soul out about the person they love so dearly but they don't love them back in the same way.

"I'm unclean, a libertine
And every time you vent your spleen,
I seem to lose the power of speech,
Your slipping slowly from my reach.
You grow me like an evergreen,
You never see the lonely me at all"

those six lines are so powerful and by far the best lines of the song.

this song is in my top 10 songs of all time its mindblowing

Placebo – Blue American Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with joeytheboy. that verse is a play on words.i think the whole song is just taking the piss out of various things. some being chrisitanity, self help books, america, rasism, his mother. i like the whole tune to this song it has quite a serious feeling to it even though i think its taking the piss.

very interesting.

Placebo – Drag Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is the most straightforward on "meds" in my opinion.
it is what it is and doesnt really have a double meaning which is quite different because brain tends to write metaphoric songs in general.
bascically its about feeling like your not good enough. i can relate to this song. not my fav on med though.

Placebo – Because I Want You Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song, its one of my all time favourite placebo songs, i can relate to this song more than most other of their songs.

I think this song is mostly about a relationship between two people. One of them is cheating on the other and is causing alot of strain on there relationship. the other person is finding it hard and feels lonely because the cheating has torn them apart. he/she then uses drinking to stop the feeling of being lonely. these two people are living together and because they have this "tension" between them from the cheating "this house is no longer a home" meaning its just this house now not a home with a homey, family feeling to it.
I think the lyric "my memorys hazy" means he/shes been on a bender and has made there head fuzzy, making them kind of forget there troubles for awhile.

finally, i think the lyrics:
Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting
And everything that's true
Don't give up on the dream
Don't give up on the wanting

Because I want you to
Because I want you to
Because I want you to
Because I want you
Because I want you

pretty much is saying "we can get through this rough patch in our relationship , i want you, you want me so lets keep trying, lets not give up on what we have"

i may have totally the wrong idea here, but hey thats the way i see the song and what it means to me. i think this is one of the more direct songs on the album, most of the others on meds seem to be more metaphoric.

Brian is a true genius wth his writing, he never fails to dissapoint.
