Steve Von Till is so perfect for this. all the collaborations work really well on this album. as for the lyrics, its pretty clear that theyre about the world going to hell. a simple and common theme, but written in a very unique way that that actually evokes several emotions, rather than simple gloom and doom that so many other bands do. again, Von Till, is perfect for capturing these emotions |

First of all, this song is on hear twice, under its other name, Orosirian. Second, of course this band is similar to Mastodon, considering how much each band is influenced by post hardcore. I'd have to say the classical influence makes The Ocean more unique then Mastodon. There are plenty of bands doing the post metal/hardcore thing now-Mastodon, in truth-is a bit more generic then most because they have a big prog influence from bands that have been around for a long time. However they're still an excellent band and I can't wait for the new album. |

The vocalist on this track is Caleb Scofield of Old Man Gloom, Cave In, Zozobra, and others. He is one of 11 vocalists that preform on this album. If you dont like him, dont worry, this is the only track he sings on. Personally, I think he's awesome. Anyone who agrees should check out Zozobra. You might find his style to fit better with his other bands then on this album |

Alright i'm not saying all aic songs are about drugs, but this one definately seems to be. the first verse is about being caught, having the drugs taken away and having a difficult time adjusting. the second verse is about having to go into rehab. the third verse seems to be about going back to the drugs or knowing he will eventually. the chorus is saying this is who he is and what he needs, how can they take that away from him? maybe the apple is a biblicle reference, but that doesn't mean the rest of the song is
But i can see the way the first guy was thinking too, very clever
and yes that is an awesome bass line, but the best part is his tone-very clean and bold-dont preform this song till you can at least get the tone close |

ooooohhhhhh shit...no you didn't.....mudvayne are alt. metal-that's the only catagory you can put them in. they're way more intelegent then any nu-metal band, the music actually takes talent to write and they don't like the mids and treble has been cut and the bass boosted. and masks/make-up do not make a band nu-metal, neither does rapping-they rarely do it anyway plus you don't call anthrx nu-metaldo you? |

the beggining of this song is so sick with the alarm and guitar going. there is practically no melody on this entire cd, but even the critics love it. that's impressive considering they normally shit on metal bands. these guys obviously know what they're doing |

This is my favorite MH song off this album. Anyone who doubts MH's ability to make kickass metal needs only to listen to this song. That Iconoclast bastard who wrote that article on Dime and matal fans everywhere deserves the same fate as Nathan Gale(the man who slayed Dime).
Another song similar to this is Hellyeah's "waging war". I haven't found any solid connections, but the lyrics are definitely either about the same guy, or people like him. |
