Glen Phillips – Chapel Perilous Lyrics | 16 years ago |
love this song. something about marriage perhaps? |
Toad the Wet Sprocket – All Right Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pulls from the tether to rise And shatters Caught in the wind far and wide It scatters honestly, the first thing pops into my head is someone doing gun practice, like on a range. If I hear them cry That it's killing time No I will not fight It's all right this time usually at the end, if lyrics are a bit hazy they pull it together in a few lines for some clarification. maybe this song is about a soldier not wanting to fight. kind of weak evidence, but it fits i suppose. |
Glen Phillips – Didn't Think You Cared Lyrics | 17 years ago |
there are mistakes in this lyrics your mouth was hanging open you looked like hell and said... so little here between us hey man, hey lord forget me not forgotten I'm a shell without a soul |
Glen Phillips – Released Lyrics | 17 years ago |
in prison i think.... good song |
Iron & Wine – Boy with a Coin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think it's about life and death. the car that flipped on the turn - death. bird in the snow - death. crying at birth - obviously birth. the boy with the coin represents the frailty of life, like a heads or tails, live or die type of thing. god circling the earth just shows that life and death is all a part of the scheme of things, and he's watching over us, particularly in the times when cars flip on turns and so on. |
José González – Sensing Owls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
he is saying things a little bit to perfect....something bad is going on, something is fishy... |
Iron & Wine – House by the Sea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song...like most songs on his new album was ruined with sound effects...i'm really dissapointed with the new direction sam took on this cd....there is no longer intimacy in his music...it's still poetic, but the music was more emotive when it was just him and his guitar, with maybe a few other instruments. this song and peace beneath the city have the best guitar licks i've heard in a while, but you can barely hear them. i really hope he does some of this songs over because they could be much better. i feel like he lost his edge and most of the reason i listened to his music. he doesn't need all those background noises, he had a perfect style, at least i though, but now it's not even like i'm listening to iron and wine anymore |
Toad the Wet Sprocket – All In All Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it sounds depression, but i think he's waiting for death......maybe....the main reason is the line "life is only just a part of it" and "i lie burning"......the title of the song as well. all and all seems like he's looking at things as a whole, the whole picture. just the sun, catch the wind, catch the river, almost like he's saying get a handle on life....water turns the mill i think refers to cycle of life....so it's definitely about life as whole......i think he's waiting for life to be over. i know this analysis is somewhat disjointed..... |
Toad the Wet Sprocket – All Right Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one of my favorites as well...lyrically this song is awesome, sometimes i read it just as poem...the reference to lorelei really fits, this song is definitely about depression, possibly contemplating suicide....but my favorite lines have to be Catching up with me And these ladders Rising and endlessly Leading Nowhere I can see |
Toad the Wet Sprocket – Windmills Lyrics | 17 years ago |
chasing things that we can never achieve |
Iron & Wine – We All, Us Three, Will Ride (Will Oldham cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
both the original and this version are fucking awesome...love the last few lines |
Iron & Wine – The Trapeze Swinger Lyrics | 17 years ago |
about the angels with their handshakes always done in a hurry.....he means to say that people are always dying |
Iron & Wine – Upward Over the Mountain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love how he sings it like....may the SON....rise bring hope very clever, very beautiful, this guy is a fucking creative genius |
José González – Lovestain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You left a lovestain on my heart And you left a bloodstain on the ground But blood comes off easily But blood comes off easily that could be considered a poem it's so effortless and simple, but very effective i don't know what people are talking about his lyrics have a style and are very poetic |
Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 17 years ago |
two souls swimming in a fish bowl is a weird statement and it's not as poetic as everyone makes it out to be...get over it, the band probably doesn't even know what it means |
Iron & Wine – He Lays in the Reins Lyrics | 17 years ago |
hence....why he is begging for one more of all these things...it sounds like he doesn't want to leave wherever he is |
Iron & Wine – Sunset Soon Forgotten Lyrics | 17 years ago |
he uses two sunsets to make a statement verse 1 is about younger years, getting drunk, not worrying about the future and certainly not rememing any sunsets, "be this sunset soon forgotten", then he poses the question what's worth keeping, which is a nice transition to verse 2, which is about a sunet you will remember, "sunset one for keeping' because he has found love and settled down....she runs returning....shows two great stages of life |
Iron & Wine – He Lays in the Reins Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one more of so many different things makes it sound like someone is always begging for something more...one more drink, kiss, thing, gift....then at the end the reference to being tangled like the horse makes me think this song is about living in the moment because you never know where you'll end up next |
Iron & Wine – Flightless Bird, American Mouth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is beautiful. it's going to be on his next cd, the shepard's dog. |
Iron & Wine – Blue Leaves Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think it's about missing family. "better than the footsteps leading home" and "you never knew until they sank out of sight" kind of bring it together at the end. where can i get this song by the way??? |
