I second that Pryncess33. It's such a fantastic representation of this type of relationship. You know better in your mind but your heart pulls you back to this person over and over again.
I've heard a cliche that states that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. This is insanity in relationship form and boy have I been there!

Amazing song and I agree with mumbles. I think this album grows on you slowly; I like it more with each listen. As for this song I love the last line:
"Can you leave me like you found me?"
It just speaks to where I've been at the end of a relationship. |

I couldn't agree more with you delial. It could reference Jay Farrar but I like to think of him singing to a woman that simply disappointed him by leaving. We've all had those days when we're so damn diappointed with people we let into our lives. The music and lyrics convey that diappointment extraordinarily well! |

I think the singer is the sailor. He is telling his sailor buddies about his girlfriend from the summer while they're lying in their bunks at the bottom of the ship. He was taken from her by the "wave" via the navy. He was "waylaid". I can go on but I you probably get the point.... |
