Wow, I'm surprised no one has commented on this song. It's one of my favorite Maxwell songs. In my opinion, the song is about yearning. He's pleading with a woman to open up and bare her soul to him, but she has her guard up. She wants to end things (possibly due to fear of getting her heart broken again?), but he feels that things are unfinished and he wants to show her how much he truly does love her. "Turn the lights down low tell me what you could see, yeah tell me what you know about everything you and me" This song and lyrics are so personal; I'm totally feeling Max on this one |

I love this song so much. I think it's about falling in love with someone and things not working out, but trying and wanting to start over with that person again. The line "either we're brave or we're broken hearted" rings so true to my life right now. I think if you don't put yourself out there and take a chance (brave), you'll wind up alone, wishing you said something when you had the opportunity (broken hearted). |
