Tori Amos – Sugar Lyrics 17 years ago
I know what Tori says about this song ...she has a tendency to be very vague and only give pieces of her inspiration. What she does not tell you is that her love interest in the song did not remember how many sugars because he was gay!She had been in love with a closet case that was working on her road crew. That is where she gets the line "sweet boy when they find you out, tell me what you think they'll do, when they find you gota little in you, when they find out...your just a pussy, my sweet boy my sugar." It is also about a close friends addiction to cocaine.

Snow Patrol – Chocolate Lyrics 17 years ago
This song and the entire album infact is about getting caught doing drugs by his girlfriend and having to choose between the two. The title and the straw referance are both hinting towards cocaine use.

Placebo – Peeping Tom Lyrics 17 years ago
This song to me is about being lonely and trying to compensate for it by taking drugs...it also hints at a fear of change or getting older and reliving the good times in the past so much you put your present on hold. He keeps looking back at freedom and fun and realizes it may have spoiled him and turned him off to the next step in life.

Tori Amos – Caught A Lite Sneeze Lyrics 17 years ago
the guys above are clearly right...it is about or to Trent, they always convey messages to one another in songs. They were lovers for a brief period in time and have remained friends. Her next song envolving him was Bliss, it is about God and Trent and trent thinking he is God.

Tori Amos – Happy Phantom Lyrics 17 years ago
sometimes Tori takes a break from the deep hidden meanings and puts it on the table...I believe this is one of those songs.
Tori is paying homage to influences in her life both past and present and pondering whether their influence would continue in her death: Lady Godiva"...and I'll run naked through the streets without my mask on", snow white and the 7 dwarfs "and then these seven little men got up to dance", Wizard of Oz "Judy Garland taking Buddha by the hand", The Beatles-Strawberry Fields Forever "...wake up in strawberry fields everyday" in this case she is referring to Oz and the Beatles by waking up in a field of strawberries instead of poppies. Pink Floyds Brick in the Wall "the atrocities of school I can forget" and so on

Tori Amos – Bliss Lyrics 17 years ago
The song like most of Tori's songs has dual meanings...to me it is about Tori's relationship to two men who have been constant in her life:Trent Reznor and God. The first line names both men "father I killed my monkey"...it is no big secret that Tori and Trent have written encrypted lyrics to each other from the beginning of Tori's career. Little things are traded and used by both artist to indicate that that song is the one intended to relay a message to them. In "professional widow" tori chants "star fucker, just like my daddy"...Trents next cd contained the song "Starfucker". In "Caught a Light SNeeze" Tori says "made my own pretty hate machine" Pretty Hate Machine happened to be the title of Trents CD. I could go on and on...in this song Tori is using Trents version of himself in the video of "Closer" a crucified monkey. She is saying how they were always meant to be in each others lives but instead of lovers they are a bliss of another kind...soul mates. As far a God goes she is talking about how her father was a minister and how she felt guilty for a while by not following the Holy path "made of you but not enough for you" she is referencing the Bible "God made man in his image" this like with Trent, is a Bliss of another kind. She still feels a bond with God but maybe not the one he had in mind for her..."four horse engine" I think refers to the horsemen of the apocalypse and how the imminent fear of an end to both her friendship and the end of the world acts as an engine or catalyst for her to write this song and make her love for them clear.

Tori Amos – Barons of Suburbia Lyrics 17 years ago
Barons of Suburbia to me is about Tori trying to get along with middle-class PTA mothers in her town when she is a multi-millionaire rock star living in the castle down the street.

Tori Amos – Blood Roses Lyrics 17 years ago
the song is about a little known New Orleans prostitute named Rose (short for Rosalyn) who was reportedly into voodoo or the ocult; she disappeared and was found weeks later with her throat cut...animals had picked at her body...it was said her death was a payback from a curse she had placed on another... a friend of mine asked Tori at a meet and greet

Tori Amos – Amber Waves Lyrics 17 years ago
The song like the entire Scarletts Walk Album has dual meanings;1) This song is both about an aspiring young and naive actress who seeks the spotlight but is forced to support herself by doing porn...she hopes that noone finds out but by accident she becomes a huge porn star and instead of feeling ashamed she realizes she is fine with it.
2) The most important undertone of the song is about AMERICA being the great whore. That is where "Amber waves" comes from(for amber waves of grain, America, America God shed his grace on thee). Tori sees the lives of this country and the girl are parallel. America was once this innocent nation that strived and fought its way to the top and when it got there it had nothing else to do but start selling itself to the highest bidder.

Placebo – Ask For Answers Lyrics 17 years ago
The key line in the song is "these bonds are shackle free"...I see it as Brian and a male friend that bonded and became close and Brian fell for him although it was a forbidden relationship. If it had been a female I strongly believe Brian would have used the term "breast" instead of "chest" breast is a term commonly used in a female sense and chest in a male sense. Perhaps he was batteling whether to tell his friend or not that he was in love with him therefor testing their friendship "time to pass you to the test".

Placebo – Nancy Boy Lyrics 17 years ago
"got the muse in my head, she's universal" and "fifty pound press my button going down"
straight guy picks up drag queen who has an awesome body, pays for sex but freaks out during act of sex...that is what Brian is trying to convey when he says "eye holes in a paper bag, greatest lay I ever had"...perhaps one of the parties became attached and tries to marry the other one off or set them up with another "kind of guy who mates for life, gota help find a wife"...until he finds the other a mate they continue to screw!

Placebo – Nancy Boy Lyrics 17 years ago
To me the song hints at Brian or the narrator having a sexual relationship with a male who secretly dresses in drag or perhaps got caught performing in drag and taken home by the narrator. It was said that the original lyrics were not "eye holes" but "thigh hose" as in "pantyhose in a paper bag".

Placebo – My Sweet Prince Lyrics 17 years ago
I meant to add on my comment above...you can chase any high (stay high) but models are said to chase the dragon to enable them to work more shoots and control their appetite (shoot or snort cocaine). It could be heroin however as drug terms seem to cross over after years of use....

Placebo – My Sweet Prince Lyrics 17 years ago
This song to me is about Brian losing his boyfriend because of his heavy drug use and refusal to part with either. "Chasing the dragon" is a term most often used in terms of staying high on cocaine for days on end, when you start to come down you simply snort or shoot up on more... I did cocaine for a year as a kind of experiment for the book I am writing entitled "The Manipulation Corporation".
