"Hopefully Mississippi will lynch you like it did me." Lynching is a form of violence, usually murder, in which the accused person is put to death (most often by hanging) without a lawful trial. The act was especially popular in Mississippi, used by the KKK to hang African-Americans within an inch of their life before cutting them down. Keeping that in mind, this line seems to suggest that the writer feels as though he's dying (or has almost died) and wishes this girl would feel what he's going through. |
