Neil Young – Southern Man Lyrics 16 years ago
All the hating going on in these comments just defies everything Neil was singing about here. Stop the hating.

Weezer – Tired Of Sex Lyrics 16 years ago
This song was originally going to be on the scrapped "Songs From The Black Hole" album/space-opera/thing. It comes after "Oh No, This Is Not For Me" in the story, where Rivers has meaningless sex and realises that it's "not for him". Maria (his fling/colleague) says "No, don't go! You'll feel okay in the morning!" and he replies that he's "red with shame" and "I know what is right, but I do what is wrong, I do what is wrong." The song then leads straight into this one.

So maybe there's personal experience in there, but hearing that song before this one gives it a whole new meaning. :)

Iron & Wine – Each Coming Night Lyrics 16 years ago
I definitely think this song is about him questioning his lover about how she'll remember him, and how she'll tell people about her time with him.

"My lover came to me and we'd lay
In rooms unfamiliar but until now"

I think this verse is about how when you meet your lover and at first it's this new place but it gradually becomes a natural extension of yourself and loses its unfamiliarity. Whether it's house or heart.

I think the rest of the song follows a set order.

"I loved your son for his sturdy arms
We both learned to cradle then live without"

This is what she would tell his parents.

"Your father's body was judgement day
We both dove and rose to the riverside"

This is what she would tell their children.

"Your face has faded but lingers on
Because light strikes a deal with each coming night"

This is her talking to him still, remembering him. It's definitely a message of hope - his face hasn't gone, it's faded, because although at the end of each day it's dark and he's no longer there, tomorrow there will be light and his face will linger on.

It's easier to figure out when you remove the first line of each verse I think.

Adam Green – Gemstones Lyrics 16 years ago
Some of these words are wrong:

"Supervised love, crucified stubs."
"Bling-faced footprints..."
"Young Sid Pumpkin in the Starbucks courtyard."
"Benadryl nights in the old K-holes."
"I'm a very funny boy but I know what I just said, Chk Chk Chk."

As with lots of his stuff, particularly off this album, it's about the NYC nightlife I think. There's more than a few drugs references: the aforementioned Xanax Zoloft, as well as a reference to the "K-hole" that users of Special K experience when they trip.

Lots of it is also nonsensical mind. :P

Adam Green – Friends Of Mine Lyrics 17 years ago
wasted-time: If you click her profile, you'll see she's from Germany and is only 21... so not her. Still, she's spot on I think. It was always just that feeling you get when you're introducing your new lover to your friends and all that. A lot of happiness, but also a lot of apprehension.

Butthole Surfers – My Brother's Wife Lyrics 17 years ago
I love all the overlayed lyrics in this song... "triple D" etc.

And I'm sure it should be "I really must beat off"... or maybe it's all just double meanings. Amazing song though, the most Butthole Surfers-like of all of them on Electriclarryland in my opinion.
