Gorillaz – White Flag Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Living the way human animals are meant to." Pretty easy to see that, I think. I think "white flag" is less literally symbolic of surrender than of peace. You know, just let everything be, relax and exist and be. The lyrics are generally feel-good, although bits of resentment towards current human society creep in, like "bye to the ends, look no feds, no stress, no rent, no superficial shit it's real folk." Good stuff. |
A Silver Mt. Zion – Pretty Little Lightning Paw Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It seems like another name for Wanda to me, also. |
NOFX – The Separation of Church & Skate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There is so much I could say about the comments on this page. But I'll restrain myself. NOFX is not punk rock. Punk rock is dead. The Stooges are punk rock, Richard Hell is punk rock. Patti Smith is punk rock. You can't deny that a big part, maybe the biggest part of punk rock is the attitude, and the attitude is by and large dead, especially dead in bands like NOFX and Anti-Flag. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy the music, I've got not problem if you do, but don't think that it's punk. |
Clann Zú – One Bedroom Apartment Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Draining is the perfect word to describe this song. "he placed everything he owned in the center of the room and he watched it burn as he recited all the beautiful words that had ever come out her mouth." Oh my god. |
Xiu Xiu – Dr. Troll Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The high frequency ear drum-bursting noise is the most beautiful part, though. |
Saves the Day – Tomorrow Too Late Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think his voice is far more full of emotion on In Reverie than most of his other albums...just because he isn't half screaming doesn't mean that he's not putting feeling into it. It's impossible for me to listen to anything right after I listen to this song. |
Saves the Day – Stay Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Easily the best song on the album. I don't much like the rest of it. I am an In Reverie junkie. |
Saves the Day – In Reverie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pff. This is the only good album they ever put out, imo. If Conley used himself more for stuff like this, we'd be better off. There are thousands of poppy punk bands out there, and while I admit Saves the Day does better than most at it, In Reverie is crazy good. |
Circle Takes the Square – A Crater to Cough In Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Circle Takes the Square should do an instrumental album sometime. (Not because the voices are anything short of amazing, but because the intro to this song is beautiful.) |
Xiu Xiu – Nieces Pieces (Boat Knife Version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Watching snow fall to. |
Coheed and Cambria – Junesong Provision Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh, and: "Wait for me, alright? I'm still a boy, down there, when you want to promise me that." I believe this is Claudio asking Newo to wait for him, as he decides to run away. Saying that he's "still a boy, down there" meaning he's still confused and afraid and doesn't know what to do, and if she waits for him, he'll find out and come back to her. |
Coheed and Cambria – Junesong Provision Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Verses 1 & 2: Claudio's point of view, a letter to Newo Ikkin from wherever he's in hiding. I don't think it's a suicide note, but a letter saying that something else will probably kill him before he sees her again. "Good morning sunshine, awake when the sun hits the sky..." I think this is Claudio in hiding. "Dear Newo Ikkin, how's Apollo been treating, you, etc..." is the letter. Verses 3 & 4: Cambria's point of view. She's on the ship Gloria vel Vessa. "Norris and Larry (pilots of the Gloria vel Vessa), Gloria (ship) to nowhere." Cambria talking to the pilots of the ship that she's on which, is about to crash. ("Captain! We've lost all systems control!") "Then son, I'll see you in my sleep." Cambria talking to Claudio, excepting the fact that her ship is crashing and that she'll probably die with it. (As a side note, I think she lives.) Verse 5: Newo/Claudio. "We'll miss you and wait for when you come." The "we" being Newo Ikkin and Apollo (her dog.) "Wrong way, right way, bad luck, what God has been giving me." Claudio just being really fucking confused and scared at what's going on, with the FBI chasing him. Verses 5 & 6: Back to Claudio alone. "I've spent so long sitting down here." Hiding. "Dowsed in kerosene in a torched, blazed blood bath. When boy sets fire, God knows you've lost at a cost that has no price." Claudio having burnt down his house after coming home to find his siblings dead. Imo. |
Coheed and Cambria – 33 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
antennas is right, imo. |
Modest Mouse – A Life of Arctic Sounds Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's about a tension or uncomfortableness that builds up in a long distance relationship over time, imo. Until it gets past the point where either person can stand it anymore, regardless of the fact that they still feel for each other. "1100 miles is too far inside a car." |
Modest Mouse – Broke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Goddamn, I can relate to this song too much right now. |
Modest Mouse – Broke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Goddamn, I can relate to this song too much right now. |
Genghis Tron – Rock Candy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Drugs? Awesomeness of Rock Candy? The latter, I think. |
Alkaline Trio – Private Eye Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I THINK: that people should just shut up on both ends and stop judging each other. If you like it, you like it, whatever. I think the meaning goes deeper than any type of police/detective metaphors. To me, it's talking about depression, maybe a little bit of paranoia with "And I've been preoccupied with these sick sick senses that sense DNA on barbed wire fences, maybe someday I'll find me a suspect that has no alibi...", etc. Really excellent song. I'm not too into punk/emo anymore, but I can never put down anything from Good Mourning back in Alkaline Trio's catalog. |
Blackalicious – Release Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Gotta love Zach de la Rocha's trademark "UGH!" Yessss. And Saul Williams is sort of God. |
Saul Williams – 1987 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
And these Tu lips might soon eclipse you brightest hopes. There's something so final about the way he says those words. |
Harry Nilsson – Me and My Arrow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have the some beautiful memories attached to The Point, and this song. |
Coheed and Cambria – Everything Evil Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Progressive Rock. Far from Emo. If any of you actually paid attention, bands like Thursday aren't emo, either. Emo? Rites of Spring and Sunny Day Real Estate. Research a little before you start throwing words around. By the way, one of my favorite Coheed songs. |
Cannibal Ox – The F Word Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't think I'd be so in love with this song if it weren't for the lyrics. El-P has sharper beats on other songs, but it's hard to beat Vast's words. |
Elliott Smith – Between the Bars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
His voice is so beautifully strained, it almost makes me cry. |
The Cure – Mint Car Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To be honest, I kind of see this song as being sad. I mean, obviously he's feeling happy during the song. But this: "Say it will always be like this the two of us together It will always be like this, forever and ever and ever..." It seems like he wants the feeling to go on forever, but it won't. Again, this is only what the song means to me, it probably didn't mean that when Robert Smith wrote it, but I think too many people on this website concentrate too much on trying to decipher what the song meant to the artist(s) who wrote/performed it, as opposed to just looking at what it means to you. Songs can have a lot of different meanings, imo. |
Buck 65 – Out Of Focus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
God, this song is so beautiful. It kills me. "Tonight I'm gonna stay up late, see if I can drown in sorrow." |
Propagandhi – Iteration Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is an absolutely awe-inspiring song. I won't say best on the album, since I probably couldn't pick a single song to be best from Potemkin City Limits, but there certainly are none better. Inevitable waves of.... |
The Clash – Lost in the Supermarket Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Excuse me if it's already been said, but I perceived I heard the people who lived on the ceiling Scream and fight most scarily to be talking about parents fighting. Perhaps. I agree with what most have said about this being about a child's feeling of loneliness. Probably my favorite Clash Song. |
