I just did an essay for my English class on this song, and actually a lot of the things that I drew from it were totally different from anything I've seen on here. I think that the relationship isn't one that has lasted for a huge amount of time, and I think that the narrator is actually still quite young when they are broken up. I just think this because of the line "the youthful boy below" It's like he's recognising that he's still immature, and that he's not ready to have dealt with such major issues yet. I guess it's kind of contradicted by "these wrinkles masterfully disguise" but I just get the feeling that the person is still young, because to me a lot of the song shows immaturity. For example, "both a beginning and an end" is completely melodramatic, and is like what young lovers have a tendency to say to one another, they swear that the other one means more to them than they ever could. It's kind of like he thought that she was going to be everything to him for his whole life. Maybe I'm just completely wrong but, hey, eveyone can have opinions! |

I don't think that this song is about boyfried-girlfriend love, I think it's about a mother and child love. I think that because it's so simple, just like the unconditional love of a mother to their child. Just the innocent question - "Do they collide?" Also, it makes a great contrast to the rest of the album about boyfriend-girlfriend love. |

The other song is "Tiny Vessels" But I don't think that the bruise in this song is about a hickie, but I don't know what it's about! I just think the bit about all the secrets giving him the shivers implies something much deeper than that. |
