Stars – The Night Starts Here Lyrics

Torq always gets me when he stars singing "The pleasure part, the after thought"...his voice is just so smooth and the way the word "pleasure" comes out of his mouth makes me swoon every time. It actually took a little while for this album to grow on me, I was still basking in the brilliance of "nightsongs" and "set yourself on fire". But this song brought it together for me, right when I heard Amy's voice singing this song...I was hooked.

Even though this song lacks vocal singing by the band, it is such a strong and powerful statement about the rest of the album and I love it. The way the beat starts loud and constant like a musical heartbeat is amazing. The quote at the end makes the song for me though, as always stars take my breath away.

I love the quote at the beginning "the only problem with going to bed, is you have to wake up in the morning" that with the background rift is beautiful. Amy sounds like perfection as always, and although the song isn't too deep, it brings a surge of hope every time you hear her croon "today, today, is gonna be a better one".

This song makes me cry everytime I hear it, cause I am in such a situation right now. I am engaged, but I am in love with my best friend. I think about him all the time, and I am head over heels for him...he doesnt do anything to make it better either, he is just as much in love. To make matters worse my best friend lives in Australia...so basically its an all or nothing situation. Should I fly all the way to australia and take a chance...ruining my relationship with my future hubby...or should I just get married even though I don't think I could spend the rest of my life with him....Freeze or make it forever...

wow shout out to drowningnoah for that rilo kiley lyric...(the good that won't come out). All of ben's songs on this cd make me feel almost nostalgic and they make me want to live a very simple confortable life...its very folky, i like this side of ben. It is very jenny lewis-rabbit fur coat...I think.

First off, any person who is a friend of Ben gibbard wouldn't be stating it on songmeanings.com. Vaguely seeing him through the crowd at a death cab concert does not mean that you are close personal friends with him. As for what this song means, it is all about being trapped in the seattle scene. The parties, drugs, and his celebrity-ness all contribute to that. He may feel like people are fake with him, cause he is the ben gibbard...so when he goes to these parties he feels like people arn't really his friends and he is trapped by the people who want to know him. When most of the time he may just want to stay home and be un-noticed. I love this song because of the fact that it is about washington...when I was on vacation visiting my family and I was homesick I would turn on my ipod and listen to this song. I can relate to him about the party scene in seattle, I try not to be a part of it...which is why I stay out of the city.
