I see where you're comin' from Simpson 01 and it certainly makes sense. Still, I think it is dealing with a relationship sorta thing. Maybe even both o_O...idk though. "See the stone set in your eyes See the thorn twist in your side I wait for you" When I think about it, all I can think of for what this means is like: she's pretty sure about what she wants (hence the stone set in her eyes) but it hurts her? (the thorn twisting in her side)((something along those lines, but it's hard to explain)). Either way, he'll wait for her to make her choice. "Sleight of hand and twist of fate On a bed of nails she makes me wait And I wait without you" Perhaps, she hasnt given her answer so he's waiting. I really am not 100% sure. "Through the storm we reach the shore You give it all but I want more And I'm waiting for you" Through all of the problems, etc they finally overcome it all. He tries to give it his all, but "his all" isnt enough for her. And of course, he cant be with her, but he also cant be without her. It's causing him pain (body bruised and hands are tied). He has nothing left to gain from them being together, but he also has nothing to gain. Gods, well grr, Bono is the only one who could honestly know just EXACTLY what this song is talking about. ....This is just beautiful. My boyfriend had me listen to it and afterwards I felt even more in love with him (not that I could be much more in love with him that I am...but w/e). Anyways. He isnt perfect but he gives her everything that he has to offer. Although, when it said, "the final word in the final sentance you ever uttered to me was love" seems like it just means whatever it was she said to him, those words still mean lots to him. You say it is much more than just my last mistake And we should spend some time apart for both our sakes" He's made so many mistakes before and she forgave him, but what was so different about this time than any other. I really haven't heard that much of Snow Patrol, but from what I have heard this song has to be my favourite. It has a sorta childish melody to it, which adds to the beauty. The lyrics are just mind-boggling. Amazing how lyrics this simple can have such a strong impact on people. Every time I hear it, it brings tears to my eyes and makes me think of my bf. "You could be happy, I hope you are You made me happier than I'd been by far." Two of the most powerful lines in the whole song. I |
