I prefer this version - i've always liked oasis except for the way the lead singer sounds, so this sounds better to me.

Sufjan Stevens – They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhhh! Lyrics 17 years ago
by Colin B. on 11-22-2006 @ 03:38:59 AM
My god. Talk about pretentious song titles. Does Sufjan thrive on this?

Honestly, this song is shit. Much like many of Sufjan's. Flame me all you want but it is true. Pitchforkers praise Sufjan like he is some indie god. Truth be told, his lyrics are mediocre. The guy goes to a library and then recites his notes with a melody. It is hilarious.

Sometimes, I feel like he wants to be Elliott Smith. Well, that isn't going to happen. Elliott wrote how he felt, Sufjan just mimics the feelings. Better luck next time!

You'll find that many people admire sufjan stevens because he puts so much emotion into his songs and he also writes quite explicitly about events that have happened to him, listen to songs like romulus and oh god where are you now - he seems to be drawing from his own experiences and emotions.
and i find your comment more pretentious than anything he ever wrote...

Barenaked Ladies – Easy Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, if make such a stupid attack on a song (worst I’ve heard in a very long time, the pussycat dolls are still out there remember) - expect some feedback.
The subject matter has been done before I’m sure, but how many songs have been written before, and what are the chances of writing completely original lyrics?
I don’t know where you are - but living in Scotland, this song never even comes near a radio playing so it’s good to hear this genre for a change

The repetition of this song creates a peaceful tone; surprisingly enough, a song can repeat to give other justified effects than intensity. The lyrics also repeat to build up to a bridge section in which he explains what is 'easy':
Easy to be with you
Easy to obey
Easy to forgive you at the end of the day
Easy now to judge you
Easy to betray
Easy to adore you though you want to run away.

By holding back the full meaning of this chorus lyric, the bridge section has a larger lyrical impact on the listener.
When saying the word 'easy' during the chorus, long, extended notes are used which give the chorus this relaxed mood.
The verse is quite different melodically from the chorus; the progression to the second verse has much more of an impact than the first verse due to the chorus preceding it, the drummer also introduces the use of his snare drum in verse 2 to put the song into a 'standard' rhythm which drives the song forward - the song has small changes like this which all build up until the bridge. Although it's not exactly an 'intense' build up, it is gradual and gives the mood of this song.
Being a guitarist, I also appreciate the skill and melody of the rhythm guitar as well as the lead guitar's sound and 'more is less' approach.
I also appreciated the skill and melodies of the vocalists.
There are a few reasons why I like this song and I'm really sorry for the last line I wrote in my previous comment - I was having a bad day.

Gwen Stefani – Rich Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
im loving the first two lines :
"Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na"

not often when u get to say that the original song from 'fiddler on the roof' was better

The Streets – Dry Your Eyes Lyrics 17 years ago
the first time i heard this song i laughed, it was bad enough when he wasnt taking his lyrics that seriously but when he does put his heart into what he writes it just doesnt fit with his shitty style of music (anyone else noticed that he cant really sing? he just talks and he's not even very good at that- he manages to talk out of tune)

The Streets – Fit But You Know It Lyrics 17 years ago
yeah, this is utter shit - he "sings" out of tune, flat or both as well as being out of time too, why the hell was he signed to a label in the first place? its just so obviously bad!

This has to be one of the WORST songs I've heard in a long, long time. I can't even think about the meaning of this, because of the unbelievable repetitivness of the the chorus. Seriously, how many times does he say "make it easy" in this song - 40 times? 50 times? I just can't stand songs where they just give up trying to write decent lyrics. If you can't use your imagination, make it an instrumental song!

droidac, the only reason u have given for this song being bad is that it repeats itself at the chorus (what a rookie mistake eh?) and that the lyrics aren't up to your personal standard, if u listened to most of the crap found in the top 100 u would find much worse songs to criticise for their lyrical content than this as well as most songs being nowhere near as good as 'easy' musically, so unless u have a valid reason for a song as good as this being "one of the worst songs i've heard in a long, long time" i suggest u go write better lyrics or go fuck yourself

omfg this song is not about pregnancy. Why the hell wuld some1 wanna listen 2 a song about pregnancy??? It kinda ruins the whole song. And it's not about a fukin bar!! It's called a metaphor!!!! u ppl r so retarded. It's all a metaphor for anytime in ur life wen u end something and start something new, like graduation or going to college.

that answer doesnt seem right either - explain the line "i know who i want to take me home" - how does that fit in with the metaphor of ending something and starting something new?
i see how the verse lyrics could give u the idea but the chorus doesnt seem to fit
