Incubus – Adolescents Lyrics 12 years ago
Incubus may say or not say a song means this or that. They weave in personal experience with the outside looking in approach to the crazy world that surrounds us. I feel you have to look at all their songs in this light. To their credit, no song that Incubus has produced has a straight forward approach. To be honest I don't know if they are locked into the "meaning" of any of the songs they have produced. This is what makes them a great band.

As for this song, it harkens to the George Carlin excerpt, " We're going away. Pack your shit, folks. We're going away. And we won't leave much of a trace, either. Thank God for that. Maybe a little styrofoam. Maybe. A little styrofoam. The planet will be here and we'll be long gone. Just another failed mutation. Just another closed-end biological mistake. An evolutionary cul-de-sac. The planet will shake us off like a bad case of fleas. A surface nuisance. "

To make a long story short, we, the human race, are adolescents. In or vein way, we hold ourselves as a sophisticated and evolved being but we are all just adolescent beings. We a just a step out of the darkness and all strugling to live with our primitive consciousness in the modern world.

At any moment the shit could fall through and we'd be back in our place.

Seether – Here And Now Lyrics 13 years ago
This song picks up right were "Rise Above This" left off. While "it seems so complicated," this song is pretty much as it reads. People that have lived through disorder and trauma are worn out by reliving the past. What happens to us becomes who we are eventually. This song to me is Shaun seeking to shed the past and finally calling out for answers. I say good luck.

Hurt – Numbers Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is about getting older "just another number, dropped from better value," and friendship. Everything he has been through wasn't enough to kill him. He had a friend that helped him through the hard times as the "numbers" kept piling up.

We all act oblivious to the fact that we are dying and what we do adds up. We are the "numbers" it all adds up. We think we can do better tomorrow than we did today but the fact is we are numbered. We all need friends to get us through until the ultimate end.

I love Hurt. I can't believe they aren't more popular. A deep rock song.

Green Day – Before the Lobotomy Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow!!! I think we are getting toooo convoluted here. Yeah its a concept album but its not a play. The songs stand on there own. What's the general idea of the album? American decay. To tell you the truth though I can't tell what the hell this song means. However, it adds to the entire picture of the album and I think Christian a lot of time means Christianity. I just wish they would have done the concept album but said what they wished without the ambiguity of the characters Christian and Gloria.

Okay circles and circles but you can take your pic. To me that means this is a pretty good song if you can't tell what it's exactly about but love it.

Green Day – See the Light Lyrics 15 years ago
Quote "Why not end off with a revelation? The progression of this album has brought the disillusionment of blind patriotism and blind faith into reality, false ideals which couldn't be sustained. Why not ask for the truth? All that is pure and good.

All the talk about rivers and water, generally make me think about baptism, rebirth, and the forgiveness of the self.

This is the appropriate way to end things."

Exactly. He wants to see the light after the dark age. It's not a statement of his desire to see better but just the truth. Fucked up as it is we are all tired of the propaganda. We need the truth and whether it's worth fighting for.

I love the references to Katrina and the Middle East. If you look you'll find them. I still haven't seen the light but thats exactly what he all need.

Green Day – Last of the American Girls Lyrics 15 years ago
Yes, this so may be similar to others and fits into the whole concept of the album. However, I think this is a eulogy of what is so fragile and over in America. This girl is America. I mean we (USA) never had a chance from the beginning. So radical and beautiful and fragile that we never had a chance. Here we are in the modern world on the eve of collapse in the grand sense or just a dying of that core "Americanism" and this beautifully captures that. She is America and she is headed in extinction; how can't you not love her.

Hurt – Pandora Lyrics 15 years ago
Knee jerk reaction alert. I heard Wars, Dream Away, Word Ain't Right, and Vol. I&II and I hate to say I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong this is a very complex album I'm sure I'll appreciate much more down the road. My problem is I had such high expectations. I thought this would be there breakthrough album. However, songs like this are good but the vocal style and the lyrics are a bit off-puting. The rest is like a early Coldplay on steroids. Which is something I'd normally enjoy but a weird song about fucking is below Hurt, in my humble opinion. Ahhhhhhhhhh just imagine the musical talent these guys have.

Hurt – Dreams Away Lyrics 15 years ago
Awesome! I can't believe that this band isn't popular in the U.S. Wow, it just goes to show you how screwed up music is today. I went to see them in Louisville, Ky but got kicked out. I hate that, the next time they come around I'll be there. Anyway the new album "GOODBYE to the MACHINE" is going to be awesome. I've only heard three songs but already I know it will be great. The album art is kickass, reminds me of a tribute to Pink Floyd. Goodbye to the machine.

Well to me this song has multiple levels. The indicator of a good song. I think this has to do with a boy and a girl. The boy is the main character. Well the boy and girl love each other; boy live in a hell. The girl is abused by her father and the boy's isn't better he drinks and beats him. Every hour seems to take the day. They dream about a better place or getting away. The ending is him pleading to her that she is good enough.

Now, I don't think they necessarily are together but share an experience. They dream together, for a better place.
