Sevendust – Enemy Lyrics 14 years ago
Although I like both bands, though DevilDriver are more popular here in the UK I am totally supportive of Sevendust here. All the pricks who say they're "homosexual", talentless or whatever can just suck a dick - Sevendust are probably the most experimental band I know. That's more than I can say for DevilDriver to be honest. Sevendust are far better in my opinion, but my opinion of the band isn't what's meant to be written on this website. Obviously Dez was a twat...to Morgan Rose which quite frankly wasn't necessary, I mean were Coal Chamber gonna last much longer anyway? Also (on a side note) Dez's reaction against Cronos of Venom on one occasion (I can't remember which) really kinda pissed me off, it changed my opinion of him completely.

Either way, its a bloody kickass song. Pity I've never seen them play it live in the 2 times I've seen them.

Bullet for My Valentine – Road To Nowhere Lyrics 15 years ago
Zutheena just pretty much summed up what I'm feeling right now, and basically what the song is about. In a nutshell, it's awesome but considering sad memories are brought back when I listen to it, I get really depressed lol

This is just what every metalhead should play at school! I agree with everything in this song except the diss of Papa Roach - I like them a lot, but the others are complete faggots...

Shinedown – Crying Out Lyrics 15 years ago
Just an unbelievable song - why this wasn't released as a single I'll never know...

"Don't use a weakness, don't change the subject, don't ask the questions if you fear the answer"
- I think this is referring to someone who is basically confused and unsure of what he/she has gotten him/herself into. In this story, it is most likely to be either a bad or abusive relationship, drugs and/or alcohol abuse, self-mutilation or self-absorbtion into social norms which come with rewards, but ultimately destroy you as a person (e.g prostitution or risky celebrity fame). The story is told from the point of view of a friend, or a past lover (if the subject is about a woman).

"You look distorted, lets make you clearer, lets flip the switch and use the smoke and mirrors"
- Looking at this person, the narrator is saying that obviously he/she does not fit in with what he/she is doing and that he wants to help him/her get out of this conforming nature. The 'smoke' is a haze or blurred vision that this person is seeing (metaphorically) and the 'mirrors' are referring to "looking at oneself" and in this case, forgiving oneself for what they've done recently, because this person has nobody to blame but him/herself.

"Re-invent yourself today, re-invent your world today"
- This is the narrator saying that not all hope is lost, that this person's life is fixable, only that this person needs to do it by him/herself in order to make it right.

"Crying out for the last time, clear a space for the warning signs, crying out for the last time, and there's no turning back now that you've opened up to your mind"
- This, I think is a reflection within the person's mind. Basically saying that now that you have forgiven yourself, you are able to go in a direction where you feel right and you cannot go back to the place which ruined you originally. The 'crying out' is letting the emotion and thoughts go that this person experiences while in the self-destruction he/she is facing, and '...for the last time' means that it's time to stop being childish and start putting your life back together.

"What guides your vision, what holds the balance, don't think that I can't see you shake and tremble"
- I think this verse is very metaphorical, but this seems to be referring to this person's conscience to establish whether what he/she has been doing has been right or wrong. The guiding of the vision and holding of the balance are processes which this person's psychological ego goes through. The shaking and the trembling could be specific in the possible drugs/alcohol story; but more metaphorical however in the aspect of the previous lyric ('balance') - i.e this person's balance upon what he/she has been putting him/herself through has been unsteady and therefore proving that all he/she is proving while here is his/her insecurity and deeper unwillingness.

"Well I know your nervous, this world is scary, you have to let go all the madness you carry"
- This pretty much expands on the previous line, but more to the point that this person should prepare for the worst now that he/she is about to move on to a better life. But also, moreover that the 'madness' that is being carried is all in this person's mind and that in the long run, positive and welcoming opportunities await him/her.

"There is no turning back now, everything you've ever wanted, everything in this moment, there is no turning back now"
- More expansion on points previously explained, and more detail onto why this person unwillingly conformed in the first place. Obviously this person felt like he/she fitted in with what he/she was doing and it suited (whether it be fame, money, freedom from stress etc.) but ultimately it cost this person more than it profited, and now that he/she should not go back because in the end he/she will just experience the same thing again.

That's my take on the whole thing. I happen to believe that Shinedown have written a masterpiece here, and the meaning is conveyed exceptionally by the way Brent Smith sings the song.

Limp Bizkit – Lean On Me Lyrics 15 years ago
Too right, this is an absolutely amazing song. When Limp Bizkit perform a great song, they do it to absolute perfection, it's like a whole different standard to other ballad-like songs.

To me, this song is about someone who is struggling to cope with life as it is. I think that Fred and this person have a strong connection, and that Fred is saying basically he will always be there for him/her. The verses describe what is going through this person's mind, and since they are often contrasting lyrics, I think that the person is very confused as to what he/she wants. So Fred is basically telling this person what he/she is experiencing and in the chorus is saying that it's not up to him to solve his/her problems, it's only up to that person, but of course Fred will always be there for that person to lean on. I think that the relationship between Fred and this person may be edgy, as Fred says: "I don't wanna see you cry no more", meaning that they might have had past problems. All in all, it's what I'm experiencing at the moment.

Amazing song, can't wait to see Limp Bizkit in June this year!

Sevendust – Fear Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, Sevendust never ever fails to impress. I don't think I can name a bad song. This is definitely the standout track of the album, along with the more aggressive Inside and the softer songs Sorrow and The Past. As for this song, this would definitely have to rank in my top 5 Sevendust songs of all time, its slow build-up into a fantastic guitar riff is awesome. What really impresses me is the breakdown ("Of course I saw you stumble...") and the outro with the same lyrics. They make the song 10x better.

As for the meaning; I am quite lost. My best guess would be that someone is clearly in a personal mess, and I think the narrator is trying to help him/her. Could be a friend or a lover, its not exactly clear. But I would have to say that the two obviously know each other well and the friend/lover misled the narrator at some point causing problems and fear between the two ("I'll show you everything you thought you ever taught to me"). It could also be saying that the subject is not listening to the narrator and is confused and isolated within his or her own mind. So the narrator could also feel that sense of hate which was caused by the misleading incident (if any) but at the same time realising that these two have had history together and that forgiveness overrules the fear.

But hey, that's just my interpretation...

Chevelle – Comfortable Liar Lyrics 15 years ago
What the fuck guitaranalyzer55? You call Chevelle bullshit nonsense?

May I first say that you are purely unintelligent and have obviously very shit knowledge of what good music is (if you think Chevelle are nonsense).

Secondly, if this song is nonsense - then I doubt you are capable of playing guitar any better than Pete Loeffler since you only analyze them. Prove that you can play guitar better than Pete and maybe I can sympathise - actually, don't it'll be a waste of your time considering you probably think Avenged Sevenfold is "kickass metal".

FUN FACT: A7X are boooooring!

And I couldn't help noticing that you said Chevelle should "settle down and find a new job". Well mate, firstly they get paid a lot for simply being in the music business; and they happen to be one of the most successful alternative metal acts (just look at their sales) and how three family members can produce such a badass sound in basically all of their songs is something which loyal fans would admire. Just listen to the riff of "Family System" and I dare you to tell me that that song is poor...

So if I were you I'd save your comments for people who actually agree with you - because you're just weaving yourself a tangled web. Just appreciate more music, mate. Anyway I've said enough...

P.S My interpretation of this song has already been said basically. May I also add that it's a damn good song as well

Chevelle – Mia Lyrics 15 years ago
A very mysterious and cryptic song by Chevelle, I think Joey hit it right on the head. I got Point #1 a couple months ago, and didn't care for this song much - but today I have just been listening to it about 50 times. It's funny how Chevelle does that...anyway I think I'm drifting from the point.

While I love the song, the meaning is very vague to interpret. But that's the uniqueness - Chevelle writes so that listeners can interpret what they think. My best guess would be to agree with Joey luvs and think that Pete is coming to terms with realising who he is and what he wants. I think that Mia could be someone who Pete knew and grew to dislike possibly while in his teen years. But then again, just a thought; I'm probably wrong.

The last 40 seconds of this song are without a doubt the best I've heard recently, it's just so superb!

Black Stone Cherry – Things My Father Said Lyrics 15 years ago
My best friend lost his dad when he was six, and this song goes out to him from me...

I also lost my grandfather, and my dad and two uncles were devastated by his loss, so it goes out to them as well!

Such a damn good song, fairly self-explanatory. I love it, brings a tear to my eye. BSC really should do more of this stuff :)

36 Crazyfists – The Tide and Its Takers Lyrics 15 years ago
Absolutely amazing - just breathtaking.

I think this is definitely a love song. But its written in a pretty cryptic and mysterious way - like "Where faith buries strike" doesn't make much sense. Which leads my second opinion being to believe he is becoming closer to terms with his religion. But that's just me.

No doubt a beautiful love song. Definitely a step up for 36 Crazyfists - I didn't think they'd be able to produce an acoustic song like "Left Hand Charity", which has a similar meaning to "The Tide And Its Takers".

When I say "love song", it's basically any kind of love. Whether its unrequited or undying or just simply asking for a second chance...there could be more to the story but songs are meant to mean what the listeners think - and thats what I think personally...

Fuel – Gone Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song tells the story of a guy and a girl - who aren't dating or anything but the guy has seen her around bitching and moaning about shit, thinking she is so perfect and always right about everything she says.
Perfect for Paris Hilton I suppose :)
But this song describes how I feel somehow. I'm at boarding school in England and there's this one girl who I thought was quite cute but turns out she was a right mirror image of Hilton. She was always complaining and was so fond of herself that it made me sick. She never co-operated and was putting all her friends down.

Fuel are still an amazing band - Brett had the voice of a god but the new guy is immense as well. Fuel FTW!!

Cold – It Happens All The Time Lyrics 17 years ago
i am currently in love with a girl, and she agreed to go out with me. But after about five days, she said that she needed to be single at the moment. This brings back so many memories of me and girls. Whenever I fall in love, they never notice and I wondered at one point whether it was all worth it. I was intent on suicide, but this girl came along and changed my life. But now we are the best of friends but I'm not sure if she wants me back. I want to be with her but I can't hold on.

Drowning Pool – Rise Up Lyrics 17 years ago
Look, I know it was done for Friday Night SmackDown but no-one comments on what the song is about.
In my opinion, this song is to do with Hitler coming to power and when the lead singer says: "'cause all ive got left is my pride" is probably to do with when Germany were officially defeated in WWII. I don't know, just a thought.

Don Henley – The Heart of the Matter Lyrics 17 years ago
My interpretation of the song is that it is about divorce
When a couple who have been married for a long time decide to break the relationship, it breaks your heart and that's what Don Henley talks about in this song.
And then, after the split up has occured, they start to find someone else and that can either make someone feel a bit sad or make them happy for the person.
And eventually, it's not about all of that, it's eventually down to forgiveness for all the bad times they went through and being happy that they aren't there anymore.

'a' – Nothing Lyrics 17 years ago
this song to me means:
that there are some things in life which you love and want to cherish again and again - but it is impossible to do that.
It's like when you have a pet and it passes away after being with you for so long. You desperately want it back, but you know inside that nothing will replace the love that pet had for you. No other pet is good enough, simply
This song could be about when someone is at an old age and his / her life has been exhilerating. After experiencing everything there is in life, you are left with nothing and you want to go back to the times when you had that life (You only get it once)

Evanescence – My Last Breath Lyrics 17 years ago
Here is my story:
I was watching an episode of "TNA iMPACT!" and Christian Cage, my favourite wrestler used such a great theme tune to come to the ring. I thought to myself: "That tune really gets to me" so, I just had to find out who it was by.

I found out that it was Evanescence and the song was called: "My Last Breath". I listened to the full version and I just couldn't stop myself from crying.

It is such a beautiful song with such a powerful meaning.

I can really relate to this song: I've never really been popular with my school friends. I was always the last one - and when I started my new school, it got worse.

After a couple months mental torture, I was so intent on killing myself that it was too much to bare.

Eventually I got through it and this song makes me go back to that time when I felt like I was "holding my last breath". I cry every time I hear it now, and if you count how many times I have listened to this awesome song, you would see an ocean of tears. I love it that much.

This song also brings back memories of the girl I used to love. I don't know why but it just does.

Such a wonderful song - Amy Lee has a superb voice for someone her age and every Evanescence member has incredible talent.

I cannot believe no-one has commented on this truly amazing song.
1. My dad played this song to me when he moved out and whenever I hear it I sob uncontrollably.

2. It is better than the Carole King version (sorry to those who prefer that one)

3. The meaning of the song is just so moving
