I've changed the lyrics twice now and it still hasn't shown up correctly. You're right, it's annoying. |
Metric – The Wanderlust Lyrics | 12 years ago |
If you can figure out that line I had trouble with, please let me know and I'll change it. Also, I've seen other sites saying the line is "Wanderlust will carry your song", so if it's decided that is the correct line, it will also be edited. |

fun. – Stars Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Somehow it keeps adding ridiculous lyrics that I didn't write out, which obviously apply to another song. Until it gets fixed, here are the lyrics: Growing old is getting old I often find myself here thinking About the birds, the boats, and past loves that flew away or started sinking And it's crazy here without you I used to think this all was ours We'd stay up late, debate on how we'd find our way Say it's all up in the stars Some nights I rule the world With bar lights and pretty girls But most nights I stay straight and think about my mom Oh god, I miss her so much And there are people on the street They're coming up to me They're telling me that they like what I do now And so I tried my best when I took the fall To get right back up, back in your arms If you're out here why do I miss you so much I feel like I had it all Back before I lost it all Now I just wait for you to talk to me But you won't even look at me, baby And I'd be saying that you You're always holding on to stars I think they're better from afar Cause no one is gonna save us Oh, and me Well, I have faded in the dark So don't you ever kiss me Don't you wish on me Why can't you see that no one's gonna save us? Oh, come on girl I just need a helping hand I close my eyes and think about tomorrow It never came true It came true It never came true Oh, and you You're always holding on to stars You're always holding on to stars Cause no one is gonna save us Oh, and you You're always holding on to stars I think they're better from afar Because no one is gonna save us Oh, and me I have faded in the dark So don't you ever kiss me Don't you wish on me Why can't you see that no one's gonna save us? No one's gonna save us No one's gonna save me now No, no, no No, no, no No one's gonna save us Who we are, who we are Who you are, who you are You're always holding on to stars You're always holding on to stars You're always holding on to stars You're always holding on to stars |
fun. – It Gets Better Lyrics | 12 years ago |
What are we doing, oh my god What are we doing, oh my god This is really happening You never looked so bored Can you feel my fingernails? They've never been so short It's hard to lay a golden egg with everyone around It's hard to stay inside my head when words keep pouring out Like star light crashing through the room, we'll lose our feathers Yes, I know it hurts at first but it gets better It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better I can taste your summer sweat It's never been so warm So can we kick the covers off? They're always on It's never been so warm It's hard to keep a straight face when I just want to smile If you could see the look that's in your eyes Like star light crashing through the room, we'll lose our feathers Yes, I know it hurts at first but it gets better It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better There's a violet sky Some snow on the ground Not quite enough cigarettes To calm me down What are we doing, oh my god What are we doing, oh my god It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better (This is really happening) It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better (This is really happening) It gets better, it gets better It gets better, it gets better We'll get better |
The XX – Night Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think oceaneyes is probably pretty spot on, but there's another option I'd like to explore. One of the recurring themes of this album seems to be about a broken relationship and this song could possibly fall into that as well. I think the girl is speaking about a relationship that she wants to walk away from or thinks needs to end, but she cares deeply for the other person and is having difficulty calling it quits. Here's an excruciatingly literal interpretation: Breaking up with someone you care about can really tear you up inside. Will she be able to tell him the truth? She doesn't want to hurt them, so she's been telling "white lies" (maybe, "It'll be okay"?) to protect them. She walks away from a fight ("stormy weather") to stop herself from saying things she does(n't) mean, but knows that eventually she won't be able to keep up this act. She knows that she needs to let him go. When she is alone with her thoughts at night, she understands what she is doing is hurting them and realizes that she needs to tell the truth. And the last two lines could be her trying to convince herself that one day she'll look back on it as a good time. |
As Tall as Lions – Sleepyhead Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I didn't put those lyrics up because I could not figure out what the hell he was saying for the life of me. I may try listening again, but if not, I'm sure that someone with a booklet will be able to now that it's out. |
As Tall as Lions – In Case of Rapture Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yesua, you're making things up that aren't said. Perhaps because you are religious and therefore offended, which would be understandable. The lyrics discuss nothing about independence vs. interdependence. Instead, it is more about actually living rather than trying to follow and impress something that may not even exist. Clearly the singer has a problem with religion and/or it's followers, but that's not to say that atheism or skepticism has any base on whether or not a person "requires interdependence and relying on others", and again, the lyrics mention nothing of that anyway. |
Jack's Mannequin – Swim Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I believe it's "Begging to tear down the dawn" and "Despite the absence of sun" "Just find the horizon" |

Straylight Run – Take It To Manhattan Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Have those of you talking about it (specifically Martinos) ever considered that this and the rest of the songs on this album might have absolutely nothing to do with Taking Back Sunday? Just because you find it easy to interpret it as such (and maybe you even want to), doesn't mean that was the intention of the songwriter. Of course, I'm not disclaiming the possibility of these interpretations, but it is rather annoying that so many of you take it as fact, and then get pissed off that he's writing about TBS, when he very well may not be. |
Say Anything – Vexed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ahem. Think Pastor/Priest and you'll get this song. |
Bright Eyes – Old Soul Song (For the New World Order) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Comparing the camera to a bible is really quite genius. From what I've read in the comments, everyone seems to believe that he's saying the camera holds the truth while the bible does not. I think this kind of emphasizes the point he is trying to make. Most people believe that what is captured on camera is truth, but in reality, it's usually not. So he is essentially hoping that the photos will be the truth, evidence, fact - much like how christians feel about the bible. I've always gotten the impression that he believes in the truth behind the camera just as much as he does in the bible, which is not much. However, I can see how he may allude to the photos actually being proof of this truth. He is skeptical of the camera, but then sees that the photos do reveal what happened. He saw them "go wild" and in the pictures, he sees it replayed. |
The Reason – We're So Beyond This (feat. Sara Quin) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Is this really Sara singing? It sounds so unlike her, in my opinion. |
The Rocket Summer – So Much Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's definitely "TO LEARN RIGHT you need a mistake." |
Say Anything – Skinny, Mean Man (feat. Pete Yorn) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Intro I know you love how I make it all go away All the joy, all the pain, all the thoughts of your brain For the price of your soul I will fold your heart in my talons For three summers straight, you've been my sweet eye candy And no one will ever, ever take you away from me |
Tegan and Sara – I Was Married Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song sounds so much like Imogen Heap to me. Anyone else hear it? |
Okkervil River – A Hand To Take Hold Of The Scene Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ah, thanks. I'll be sure to request a fix for those lines once someone figures out the other question marks. |
The Rocket Summer – Taken Aback Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I guess it could be about an ex, but I think it has to do with old friends. I'm given this idea because he mentions his small town, and so I feel like he's drawing back on old memories and how things aren't the same anymore. For a moment, he also wonders if he should take any of the blame for that. Also, he says, "It's not everything I am, my dear, only friend." The connection to a friend can be obviously drawn from this. Also, I think he might be talking about his career as a musical artist. Maybe that helped create distance between him and his friend and he wants the friend to know it will be over some day, that it's not everything, and he's still the same person. |
The Rocket Summer – High Life Scenery Lyrics | 17 years ago |
He's talking about "scene" kids and how it drives him crazy cause it's absolutely ridiculous. He creates a character, a specific girl, who he targets throughout the verses. He's saying how it drives him crazy how she has to put on this show when really, she should just go fucking crazy and sing and dance along (instead of just standing and being "serious" as some kids do), because she obviously feels something. Fame is not involved, unless the opening verses are meant to call out certain bands, but that wouldn't correlate as well with the rest of the song. I think it's more or less talking about the so-called "scene." And saying that, I think the term "scenery" is fucking hilarious. He clearly means it in a very tongue-in-cheek kind of way and I want to use it. |
Tegan and Sara – Floorplan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's possible this could be her longing to be with this person. She speaks of this "floorplan" because she wants the other to know her, to know what's in her head and heart, and to know what makes her happy. The line, "I want your lungs to stop working without me," suggests that she wants them to need her, to not be able to breathe without her. Though, although she wants this, she is too scared or shy to actually go for it. She won't say what she really wants or how she really feels even though it brings her pain to hold it in. She knows she shouldn't walk away from it, but she will. It could definitely be about a break up as well, but I like this interpretation. |
The Rocket Summer – Taken Aback Lyrics | 17 years ago |
There are a couple lines in the second verse that I really just couldn't get a hold of, but give me your corrections and I'll make sure to fix them up. |
Okkervil River – Plus Ones Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Okkervil River – Unless It's Kicks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've only listened to this song once and I'm already fucking in love with it. I want to listen to it over and over and over again. And just dance. It's a dancing song. |
Okkervil River – Title Track Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm sorry, the last line doesn't make sense. I tried to hear something else but that's all I could get. "In New England, legend says the Whip-poor-will can sense a soul departing, and can capture it as it flees." |

i'm getting the killers mixed with alkaline trio. that's who made that song, really. |
Sleeping At Last – Hold Still Lyrics | 17 years ago |
All I know is this song is fucking beautiful. I'll take a shot at it's meaning, however. I guess it's saying, why is it so hard for us to find truth? Then, I guess you could gather that he's saying we cover it up with fear and it takes us a lifetime to uncover that truth - that same truth has already been discovered by children. They get it, but life is dirty and we lose track or cover it up along the way. And at the end, I think he's just saying, if we slow down and examine it all, we can figure it out. |
Park – Hide and Seek Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I really love when he screams olly olly olly oxen free. But that's about it. That's what you scream when you give up in hide and seek, right? Or I just don't remember when you scream it. |
Page France – Love and Interruption Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It seems, to me, that the narrator believes that this girl he used to be with belongs with him. He doesn't think that any guy will really love her as much as he did, and that if she ever feels like something is missing, it's because she must have once felt complete with someone else (the narrator). She must not seen it that way, and so the narrator wants her to let him know if she ever finds someone she trusts, cause he doesn't think she will. |
Page France – Goodness Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it might be "little green believer." I think this song is just saying that angels were once just like everyone else before there was good vs. bad, one vs. the other. I'm sure there's an underlying meaning and the angels are not mere angels as we think of them. Perhaps they are a metaphor for your everyday believer - or, for some reason, I think of a born-again christian. I feel like they're saying, "Hey, you were once like all of us and didn't know right from wrong. So stop judging everyone so harshly because I need someone to guide me." |
Page France – Pigeons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Fuck, how do you fix lyrics? Seriously. through* |
Page France – Bush Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Other religious references: burning bush, flooding, fruit, angels... |
Page France – Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Corrections: "I heard someone say they couldn't speak And I heard someone hear they couldn't hear" "And I saw all the angels circle 'round us Up here you see everyone" "With all the holes inside your boat" "Up here I watched you float" "I heard someone saying I love you" "Of course, a crowd of people joined around it I know no one understands" |
Memphis – In The Highest Room Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm really not sure I know what this song is all about, but I know that it's my absolute favorite of theirs. They talk about how they lose a part of themselves from each place they leave and even if they realize it's gone, there's never any time to turn around and pick it up or they're not sure where it was lost. It sounds like it could be about the band. Travelling and fame. They are at the highest place they can be and yet they are losing everything they are and feel trapped by their management or corporation so they end it. |
Memphis – A Ghost Story Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am unimpressed by this. |
Manchester Orchestra – Alice and Interiors Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's "invincible" not "invisible." |
Manchester Orchestra – Alice and Interiors Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's "invincible" not "invisible." |
Manchester Orchestra – Now That You're Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hm. From a very literal sense, it seems like maybe he thought christianity was foolish when he was younger, but now that he's grown, he believes. It's kind of like a born again christian thing - he's been trying to be good and is wondering, now that god is "home," or in his heart, where he belongs, if he'll save him. That being said, for me, he seems to have a very sarcastic tone throughout the song, like maybe he doesn't really believe in any of this? But maybe that's just his voice and maybe my own beliefs are coming into play and clouding my judgment. |
The Used – Liar Liar (Burn in Hell) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Liar, liar, pants on fire is THE WORST FUCKING LYRIC EVER. |
The Used – With Me Tonight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is it so difficult to copy and paste the lyrics so we don't have to search for the part we're actually listening to? Let me answer: it isn't. Fuck. |
The Used – Earthquake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
On the contrary, from first listen, I really enjoy it. The lyrics are pretty good for The Used as well. |
Dustin Kensrue – Blood & Wine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I thought Johnny Cash right away. It's weird that I like it. It's mesmerizing, though. |
Chevelle – Don't Fake This Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I always thought it said "Faith is dumb" even though the song is called Don't Fake This. I am fucking stupid. |
