Boston – Something About You Lyrics 17 years ago
TRUE STORY: A guy of few words once had a huge crush on me and to let me know how he felt, he told me to listen to 7, 8 and 9 (and in that order!) off the new Boston album. Or was it 5, 6 & 7?? Hitchin A Ride, Something About You and A Man Like Me. Besides the personal nostalgic notions this song conjures 4 me, it does provide those of us who play air guitar a very righteous lead guitar rift.

Manfred Mann – Blinded by the Light Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't know what the author intended to convey. To me, honestly, I always just LOVED singing my heart to this song... I distinctly remember learning the lyrics and just feeling KEWL becuz I knew all the trippy words (gimme a break I was just about 14/15 yrs old. I always liked Bruce's version much better than Mann's...besides I'm a Philly native and Bruce & I were breathing the very same pollution.

The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics 17 years ago
Drugs, specifically an addict that INJECTS drugs... "there's a smile when the pain comes... the pain's gonna make everything allright..." The smile is a smile of "relief/escape", NOT of happiness. The (physical) pain comes when the needle goes in and pierces her skin, and she knows that if she feels "that" kinda pain, relief is on it's way. To me this smile is like a big, long-awaited exhale. By the way, I had a friend in the 80s who I thought was the "SHE" of this song... If the writer(s) knew this chick (Lorie), she would've been the inspiration. I wonder if Lorie's still alive? Even though Lorie and I only hung around for about a year, I will ALWAYS remember her like I knew her for many years, becuZ of this song and the life this song still has.

Joan Osborne – Ladder Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is among my personal top 100 all-time favorite songs. To me, tyhis song's about a woman who will stay when she should go. I see a woman who loves a man crippled with an addiction of some sort (learning another language) and the wreckage of their behavior (INFEDELITY, ABANDONMENT) that buries them and the people who love them. A woman awareness of when he says "this", it means "that". The addict thinks they're follin' everyone, especially the one they lie to the most (besides themselves), and she's lettin' him know in a sarcastically loving kind of way that I'm going to love YOU anyway...today and everyday (honoring commitment!). I think the Ladder just represents AWARENESS, in totality. AWARENE of who he is, who she is, who they are, who they are not. While a ladder would be nice, she'd use it if handy, but would not trade the GROWTH/GAIN, for she is wise (as dumb as the addict thinks she is) and knows there are no shortcuts in life. Given the chance to change everything, she wouldn't change nothing...and would trudge the same road over again in the name of.... LOVE... (today and every day). Gawd, I hope no one ever figures out who wrote this... I think way too much..... JEEZ!
