this song is a follow up to seventy times seven, because in seventy times seven jesse is singing about how he lost his friends to drinking and driving [or that may be a metaphor for something else that happened, im not quite sure, but i really dont think it is about john from tbs..], but is not making any effort to get them back, in seventy times seven, he is pissed at his friends and doesnt even want to try to get them back. so he cools down a little bit and writes 'sowing season', where he states 'i am on the mend, atleast now i can say that i am trying.' which means he is trying to re-build his friendships, and he is not just yelling at them, like in seventy times seven where he says '....and you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt and again when your head goes through the windshield.' and '..and now i know i wanna kill you like only a best friend should.' the line "trying to get the seeds into the cold ground, it takes some time to grow anything" is saying that he is planting the seeds of friendship into himself, but he is still pretty pissed at his friend/friends for whatever they did, so it is going to take a while for their friendship to be like it used to be. he is trying to say that if a friend betrays you [especially a best friend] you should obviously be mad at them, but you should take a while, cool down, and try to forgive them.. |
