Supertramp – A Soapbox Opera Lyrics 17 years ago
Yes, definitely, this song has strong connotations to the dogma and regimented nature of religion.

'I hear, only what I want to hear,
But, I have to believe in something,
Have to believe in just one thing.'

The odd belief that we MUST believe in only one god, a confined image of God. Where he stands as only the light, the truth, a benevolent warden in the skies, that grants us with things like love, and sunny days, and jaffa cakes.

It also refers to how religion looks at all that bad about you, 'father washington, you’re all mixed up,
Collecting sinners in an old tin cup.' He states that religion is mixed up, how can something that's suppose to be so pure and free confine you to certain rules! its madness...

'dont do that! gods watching'

I think he wanted to express this feeling, for the ridiculousness of modern religion and faith.

Supertramp – Even In The Quietest Moments Lyrics 17 years ago
I think, even though this song has strong connotations to a romantic scene, that roger also has a close relationship with nature, and he may be illustrating his souls feeling of comfort within nature, when life plays it's part, loss of love, or missing something that you love.

To put this song into my own life, it refers to how not even nature can make things clear for me at times. Even when the commotion or not udnerstanding something is gone, and you know what to do as such, you still don't know where you are going. I think it refers to a cycle, like the cycle of nature.

'And even though the stars are listening
And the ocean's deep, I just go to sleep', refers to his mind being weary and nature serving as a kind of cradle for him when his mind becomes too much to handle.

I think it refers to how, we let go of our cycle when we focus so much on our emotions and figuring out where we ahve to go, what we have to do, who we need to be with. 'dont let the sun fade away' may refer to how he urges not to let go of the simple truthful cycle of life.

and even when the song is over was it just a dream - this for me shows strong connotations to our minds thoughts interaction with nature. When the song of our minds disappears, was it just a dream? What is all of these thoughts? are they just concepts?

I think in this song, Roger illustrates how simple life really is, in nature, and that we follow a path, of coming to terms with our perceptions of things.

I dunno, my interpretation.

Supertramp – Fool's Overture Lyrics 17 years ago
I think, to have a slightly different interpretation, That these lyrics refer to humanities ignorance as to the destruction of the world
'So tell me that you find it hard to grow
Well I know, I know, I know
And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow
Well I know, I know, I know'
People seem to brush aside the worlds problems, they 'know, know, know' the problems, but have things to do. Parts to play... 'jokerman, rockerman...'

and history recals how great the fall can be, showing the destruction is evident, and humanity knows what they are doing to the earth, but everybodies sleeping (ignorance).

I get the jesus Christ references, 'Too late, the prophits cry', refers to how we just ignore what the wise people are saying, and do how we feel. Then when the island is sinking (this could be the whole planet) we'll just take to the sky, this false fixation thath umanity will be able to relocate the planet once its gone, we'll just live on the moon? or on a different planet.

When really, the only way we can go home, is if we listen to him. 'waiting in silence', refers to how he isn't going to come and say things to us, but rather his existence previously is the voice that still echoes in our minds, the right thing to do. Stop raping the world, stop the ignorance, and do something about it.

"So you found your solution
What will be your last contribution?"

Why so lazy!?
