Metric – Blindness Lyrics 15 years ago
For me, the song sounds like reporters taken hostage: "I was a blindfold, Never complained". "I was the one with, The world at my feet" reminds me of a journalist reflecting on her first big story but recognising that her life has changed, indicated by the use of past tense. "Got us a battle, Leave it up to me", sounds as though she's the only one able to change their situation. "You gave me a life, I never chose" sounds like she wanted acclaim or notice for her work, not her plight, which fits with the next line, "I wanna leave but the world, Won't let me go"; no one wants to let the terrorists win and her death would be seen as a win, even though she doesn't want to live anymore.

That's my take, make of it what you will. Songs can have so many interpretations that I can see many of the interpretations above, addiction, hero, justice. I immediately thought of Lost when I first heard this too.

Uffie's accent and how she says certain words like "hot" and "flow" is unusual. Great beat, very addictive.

I think the song is about moving on from love with a new love and the risks that come with it

Maxïmo Park – Your Urge Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about someone whose having a relationship with someone which was supposed to be casual. So he goes out and flirts with people, gets their numbers etc etc except he's realising that she means a lot more to him than he first thought and she's now upset because he means a lot more to her too.

Maxïmo Park – Girls Who Play Guitars Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with the above. I think what I like about this song (and with all of their new album) is that Paul's voice has improved and he hasn't stopped using his accent. In fact, his accent is what I love most.

It's about knowing someone so well that you can see their life through your own perspective.

City and Colour – Like Knives Lyrics 17 years ago
They had a serious fight; she cheated on him and is telling him about it:
"Your words are like knives
They peel my skin and pierce my soul"

But they have make-up and have sex:

"Your body will burn tonight"

Although he still knows that she still wants the other guy:

"but your heart will remain cold"

He thought that his love was enough to keep her and so he blames himself. All he has left are memories and he writes songs about her:

"paper and pen to remember you with"

The last line is very poignant because he asks if she will reliniquish her other relationship for him, in the hopes that he can have her.

City and Colour – ...Off By Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about the relationship not being right:

"but they don't align for us"
*fragile moments"

but they try to make it work regardless because of the way they feel about eachother:

"You are my everything"

A Perfect Circle – When The Levee Breaks Lyrics 17 years ago
I have not heard the original or the Led Zepplin cover, but I think this song has such a depth of meaning (than most covers) as do all APC songs.
My interpretation is that it is about war and the line "When the levee breaks" refers to the figthing in Iraq and the toppling of Saddam Hussein's presidency.
A levee is used to prevent a flood so it can be likened to the preventative measures taken to hold off the fighting. But of course this song is about when the levee breaks and it no longer holds off the flood. Once the levee breaks, the war will really begin.
