i don't think anyone's quite got this right yet. i think the verses are him describing the war, but the chorus is about a girl who used to be his sweetheart until they fell out (the looks you gave when we were getting on). she's not making ammunition, the shells mentioned are something like a shell necklace (i bet you're making shells back home for a steady boy to wear around his neck) for the new boy she's seeing. the girl doesn't really care about the singer any more but pretending that she does is keeping him going (it won't hurt to think of you as if you're waiting for this letter). |

ok, you guys can't read. the song about the fan who dies is "it's summertime" and the song about the robot in love with yoshimi is "one more robot". generally robots don't eat each other... this song is simply about yoshimi defeating the robots. |

um, i might have got this wrong cos no-one else seems to have mentioned it but it sounds to me like it's about a relationship where they're both afraid to commit because they don't want to get hurt again. she's so afraid that he's going to leave her that he doesn't feel close to her and that's eventually why he feels he has to break up with her. |

ok, here's a suggestion. this guys in a relationship and the girl's lying about how she feels about him. and he suspects this, hence "the sun forgives the clouds" and "i don't care if it's real". and she can't stop herself lying and saying he's important and making him think she misses him when he's not there. i'm probably completely wrong. beautiful song anyway. |

i don't think this song's about jesus. i think E makes it pretty clear in "all in a day's work" that he's not religious.
i love this song. it sounds so depressing to start with, and almost suicidal, but gets kind of optimistic towards the end. makes me smile every time. |
