Look at the video. The bed, the candies, he obviously fancied her. Then later there are the suitcases she was going to leave. The tone suggests a sexual theme. The way she says "blow you", you can tell she's using terms from his wants for her own purposes. "I wanna blow you..." but not the way you want. The tone also shows how very distant and deadened she is from her feelings, she's not exactly angry but she knows this is the very best solution. When she asks where has his pleasure gone that changes it becomes a feeling of power. He enjoyed himself so much at her expense but then the tables turned. She's euphoric in response to his pain. He had to have hurt her bad. Right before that point the video, she opens the box of candies takes a bite of one and spits it out. It looked like she was thinking she might as well eat them he got them for her right? But then she spits it out. There is no thing he can give her to balance out what he's doing, so it's disgusting. She realizes it fully and tosses the rest as well. A lot of times in a situation when someone is raped they try to remove themselves from it or distance themselves. Or at times even if it's not their fault they feel like the Jezabel (another word for whore) He's also called angry Johnny, she talks of ending his rage and in the video they show a male form throwing things. So not only is he a rapist he has anger issues. When she leaves in the end, the place is littered with his destruction. In the end, she says she wants to blow away every part of him that doesn't feel okay. I don't know how to describe it, but being around someone who's done that to you makes you feel wrong. It's like your everything is screaming to reject them regardless of what you have to show on the outside. I know the feel from my experience. Now I don't feel like he should die anymore but more like he shouldn't be alive or in this world. Yes, there is a difference. But my god, I had my plan but my friend, current bf now helped me get past that point. For anyone out there they are not worth it, not worth the further ruin of your life. Not unless you seriously need to get away and are in unavoidable danger. Fear, mental and emotional manipulation stop you from seeing a way out but there's always a way. My way was it was either him or me (I wanted the later but I had a child, I would have to take him too because I couldn't assure him being okay. It changes her, it helps her go beyond what she and where she was. In the first part you're left ashamed and afraid and then they walk away like its nothing. In the the end you confront them, use the fear to turn it into power. They're still afraid and the mark is left but the anger and hatred at the moment pushing it back. I'm not ashamed of what YOU did. I'm not afraid to put it out there. I'm not your slave, you can't hurt me anymore and I'm conquering this and you. But they are still turning away like its nothing. It sounds like at every turn they are trying not to acknowledge what they do. In some people it comes off strong but for others you will feel powerless especially when someone switches things around and pushes what they have done, and all the trouble they went through. I had an experience like that even though I had done a number of things to lend a hand, buying food, running, errands, helping in them keeping up their business they felt like more should have been added. They did as they chose and the rules and conditions were constantly changing from what they first said. And upon leaving and stating it wouldn't be happening guess what was said? I was ungrateful. It's about a woman who is not satisfied with the relationship she has with her significant other. Whats the point her telling him or him knowing when he'll never try to understand when she gave him so many chances? Some days she can't even feel love for him because of this. I almost hate them for this song. It's about being in someones life who has their own demons. After a while life has little meaning to them and death in the only thing they feel ends and releases them from it. Going through crazy times and in the morning things still aren't right like they should be, its not over. (i.e. slept in the park...) The days when she was better are gone, Things get worse and worse, till she can't be reached by words. He wonders were's the light, when will morning happen and the nightmare will be over? There's just enough of her mind left to decide to die. The last night when she dies everything broke loose it was all bad. He realizes that all that all the dreams they had were a lie because they'll never happen. He's a liar too he must have felt he could save her. If that's all that's left to them he might as well send his life to the fire.Now that she's dead everyone has their idea of why she did what she did. He knows what really happened and they don't, can't understand. But he's not sure if her choice was right or wrong. The chorus is the same as what swhite says. The noises that make all the voices. Everything that takes him back to all the messed up times and his feelings of hopelessness, the drowning. He can't get it to stop. She thinks that she can save him by dying and she feels like she's already dead in her mind. I love The Delgados songs even this one but I hate this so much. This is my life and it was my sister's. Her death solved nothing but at least she's not hurt or confused anymore. But I am more than I ever was sticking to her on wild goose chases, and trying to reason and comfort so much, loosing parts of me in the end. Never have I hated relating to a Delgados song so much. |

I feel its about someone who was afraid of happiness. She doesn't know how to deal with it. Everytime she'd be close to it she'd try to stop it. She'd start intimate relationships that would get in the way of her happiness. The "With every bubble she sank with a drink" I think has a double meaning. Everytime happiness appeared and she got a taste of it she'd feel bad about it. I'm also thinking it may be talking about the use of alcohol to mute the feeling. The chorus is basically saying the bad times are over. The part about the horses are coming makes me think of a fox hunt. Something to ruin the happiness is about to come, like trying to reach back to those old intimacies, regrets, wants, guilt, things/feelings from the past are coming to hunt her down. She needs to run from those things for her loved ones. She wont be able to live carrying all the weight of her past so she needs to let it go. "And I never wanted anything from you Except everything you had And what was left after that too, oh." She's thinking about an old bad relationship and what she had wanted from that person but never got. She's started longing again. In the end she has a chance to be truly happy and hits her hard and shakes her badly. So bad it hurts. By someone who should have known better than that. I think that someone was herself she feels she should have known better after she looks back at her past. This was one of my sister's favorites. She was like this. She just couldn't run fast enough. She gave it a good fight though. She was so close to happiness and felt it would be ruined. Her whole life was about to change for the better and her mind couldn't take it. She was my other half, it was like together we made person who could at least try. I have to learn from what happened with her. Now that she's gone it's harder leave what I need to behind. But I have to for my mother whose in a bad situation and my son who has ptsd. She always said it's not the weight it's how long you carry it that makes the difference. |

| Completely ridiculous people the song is up for interpretation. The original may have been about drugs. After watching SNTR's video it's obvious what meaning they felt in it, it's about the love felt for a girl. This is a pretty open song no true boundaries on it, it's mostly full of feeling. So you could think it's about drugs, a loved one, sex, even a child, or whatever you mind can drag up. And by the way I think it's pretty awesome as far as the Christianity thing that their feelings about the song didn't just scream drugs. It's shows at least in that factor they are clean within their mind. I like the idea of people finding beautiful meaning in something that is less clean. Firstly the lyrics are missing a line. It belongs at the end of the chorus "And she knows how to believe in futures" I'm thinking its talking about a girl who has gone through a great ordeal she's been broken down and broken down again after that. She spent a time away from the world to rest and heal. She's here now and even through things may not be perfect she can't complain because she feels alive, polished. She is ashamed of her condition and her previous doings. She can now appreciates life greater after her ordeal. She is just filled with the energy and hope that her relief has given her it's like she's been awakened so she's more alive than most and now has hope for her future. But maybe not it just comes to me this way because I know somebody who is going through degrees of breaking down and relief from sufferings. I'm just really hoping in the end she can feel this polished, joyous, and happily not desperately look towards the future. |
