Sleigh Bells – Crush Lyrics

Um am I the only one who hears "you make my panties all wet" in this?
Because IT REALLY SOUNDS LIKE IT and no one is saying anything about it |

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – O Children Lyrics
| 13 years ago
|
These comments are all really apt, but in the context of the album and its self-proclaimed adaptation of Orpheus & Eurydice, this song marks the moment after Orpheus has lost Eurydice to Hades forever, after which he pretty much wanders aimlessly into nothing until he's devoured by beasts. It's a bittersweet tragedy in which he laments his situation, but rejoices in its easy solution: death, where he can be reunited with his lost love for all eternity.
Really beautiful stuff. Makes a great story even better. |

Teenagersintokyo – End It Tonight Lyrics

I lose myself every time I step outside
And I lose myself I stay out late and I
I lose myself every time I play that song
And I lose myself every time I hear your name
I lose myself every time I'm home alone
And I lose myself every time I hear her name and I
I lose myself every time we meet outside
And I lose myself every time I play your game
In many ways you're right, in many ways you're right
There's nothing in the way, kill tonight
I lose myself every time I missed the start
And you, you lose myself every time you call me up and I
I lose myself every time I play that part
And you, you lose myself every time I step outside
So let's end it tonight |

SO. FUCKING. GOOD.
This is going to be a classic. It is confidence personified.
God, who knew that over the years she would just get better, and better, and better...? |

Annie – I Know Ur Girlfriend Hates Me Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
Once I started listening to the lyrics I totally realized all the irony in this song!
Choose me or her, she says. It's obviously her because who's got the guy? The girlfriend. If he's having sex with her and you hear it, you're probably spying, and he most likely desires her because he's doing it with her and not you. You're calling. He isn't picking up.
Totally awesome. Well done. And who else could do it? |

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Crow Jane Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
In his book And the Ass Saw the Angel, Crow Jane is the nickname of the protagonist Euchrid's mother, who would wait drunkenly for her dead husband to come home-- certainly a more passive character of the same name. It really makes me wonder...
If I were to interview Nick Cave, these are the kinds of things I would ask him about. |

It very well could be an interesting mixture of both. Let's not discredit others-- both sides are pretty valid points. |

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Stagger Lee Lyrics

It is very rappy, I love that! Cave is a brilliant satirist, and if there's any good place to take the piss out the rap phenomenon, it'd be Murder Ballads. It's got a fantastic bass line, metronomic rhyme-droppin', and of course, all that fucking profanity. Absolutely genius. One of my favorite songs he's done! |

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Lyrics

So fucking badass! Ugh! I can't stand it! Much like the mariachi players in regards to Banderas' sexiness, Nick Cave's playing has me wailing about how it's way too cool.
That was cheesy as fuck. But seriously. |

Lily Allen – I Don't Know Lyrics

Yeah, the comments about the tabloids make sense.
This song shows how much Lily has matured.
I absolutely ADORE this song! Lily is unbelieveably strong, so goddamn smart. People watching her over the past few months probably thought she'd break down, but she's come back even stronger.
If that's not worth appreciation and reverance, I have no idea what is.
I fucking adore this woman. Love. Love LOVE. |

Kate Nash – Skeleton Song Lyrics
|
I think this song is so relatable. Seriously, WTF with all the anoxeria stuff? It's a skeleton, not fat.
I've always been certainly the weirdest kid I know. Kate could've said that this song isn't supposed to make sense-- but how can that be true? It makes perfect sense to me. I can't believe only one person has talked about it in this sense:
People think this girl is weird because of her actions. "When I take you out, you've got me standing in an awkward position with unwanted attention and a need for explanation." She can't help that she's weird, and she blames it on her skeleton. The bridge, to me, shows a heaping pile of insecurity, a want for self-destruction in regret of her past actions, but she realizes that she couldn't actually do anything without a skeleton, so she'll stick it out because that couldn't work. "I will be there for you until the end."
You know?
It seems so crystal clear to me. Strange that it's not so with everyone else. |

Be Your Own Pet – Bitches Leave Lyrics

Actually, this song is supposedly based on a scene in Robocop where a guy is doing cocaine and says "bitches leave". He's trying to do cocaine, but they're just not letting him have his fun! |

Completely absolutely genius, but certainly is more effective when "fucking" is used instead of "bloody". The first time I heard it, my eyes were just spread so wide apart. Absolutely brill. |

PJ Harvey – Hair Lyrics

PJ Harvey has denied feminism... she doesn't believe gender should make a difference in terms of music.
I agree with amberbreath-- it seems she cuts his hair off not as an expression of hatred, but of wanting to have Sampson as hers and only hers. |
