I used to think that My Life was a Paul McCartney song. The melody and voice seemed McCartneyesque. Joel is actually more influenced by Lennon, but Macca's influence is plain to see. |

No one's commented on one of Badfinger's best later songs. It would seem that this song is about how the band was mismanaged and taken advantage of in the later years. "Should I Smoke or Should I Die/ Somebody must tell me why" illustrates how the bandmembers were slaves to the financial whims of their managers. Their Manager eventually caused Pete Ham's suicide. I'd have to read the Best of Badfinger booklet to make sure that's the right story. |

FossilRoo has a good point, and I like this song, (it's a good whistler), but the main message seems like it's saying when you have problems, instead of doing something about them, you should ignore them and be happy. If my landlord, is going to sue me I'd worry instead of being happy for no reason. I know this isn't the message of the song, it's just the impression i get. |

strawberry fields. I Want You (She's So Heavy) and Because do have similar intros. The first six notes are the same except She's So Heavy is in D Minor while Because is in C# Minor, only a semitone apart. So they're very very close. I hope that helps. I thought I was the only one who noticed the similiarity. Both are great songs. |

I always pictured this at the end of a Wes Anderson film at some funeral with Bill Murray involved somehow. The premise would be that some girl mistreats Bill Murray and gets what she desrves by dying. The chorus would fit well with the slow motion ending. Great song. |
