Frank Turner – Worse Things Happen At Sea Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The way he sings "this is the worst thing that's happened to me" kills me. I probably couldn't have bared listening to this song a few months back. |
The Magnetic Fields – Abigail, Belle Of Kilronan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It could be about a daughter, which is the way I always took it, but the line "don't be alone" makes me think he wants her to be happy without him, also. |
The Cooper Temple Clause – Head Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm devastated that they've broken up. I never got to see them. =( They can so easily put into words all of these abstract feelings in my head, the ones I'm not smart enough to vocalise myself. I love some of these lines in this song so much. |
Pulp – Like A Friend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've never read Great Expectations or seen the film, but this feeling is pretty universal. Someone you love goes away and comes back when they need you again or when they're done with whatever they went away to do, or someone who just takes advantage of you, and you have no choice but to welcome them back with open arms because you love them. I've certainly been there, and at times it's almost as if I welcome the abuse, I'll come running back to it, even though everyone tells me to stop because I love that person. It's lucky for him that we're friends. |
Pulp – The Day After The Revolution Lyrics | 17 years ago |
To me this means that everything we've believed is wrong, religion, and our revolutions, they were just putting us on. Whoever ultimately runs the world knows that everything is meaningless, they know all the answers but they get it all wrong just to confuse things. The meek won't inherit anything, if you want change you have to do it for yourself, and all the revolutions are in the end meaningless because everything will still be the same afterwards. |
Patrick Wolf – Short Stories Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Bestiality? Patrick, baby! |
Massive Attack – Teardrop Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Someone a bunch of comments back said that they associated this song with abortion, either for or against. I can't imagine that the song would be radically pro-abortion. The baby in the video is SO lifelike, SO easy to sympathize with. It gives me chills and makes me want to cry. (But then again, I cry at the drop of a hat.) But the way that the fetus was shown in the video is meant for us to feel for, I think. As for the song itself, I agree with the general opinion of everyone. It seems to me it's about futility. |
Tupac Shakur – Dear Mama Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"And even as a crack fiend You always were a black queen" I think that line is beautiful. |
Modern English – I Melt with You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is really beautiful. I love the line 'making love to you was never second best.' It makes me warm inside. |
Millionaire – Champagne Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Me too. I totally agree with everything, the real centerpiece of the song is the music itself which is so... sexy! For lack of a better word. It's sweet in a sort of weird, creepy, masochistic, kinky way. I liiiiiike. |

Millionaire – Ballad of pure thought Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is about a guy who was in a relationship with a girl and meanwhile didn't feel 100% about it and had to go explore other girls, but then found that nothing compared to what he always had. The girl, however, is deeply upset by his antics (and rightly so!) He realizes now that he has to be able to appreciate what he has and make her see that he's worthwhile. What he has is real and true and certainly more meaningful than any fling he could have. This song means a lot to me because I keep hoping my guy will realize this. I too always thought it would be easy and that we'd just know and be able to go along with our happy lives together, but it's incredibly difficult and painful. But definitely worth it. |
The Velvet Underground – Stephanie Says Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I obviously love that my name is in it. I agree with a lot of these interpretations, her coming to be as cold as Alaska has been a gradual thing, as resentment has built. She's spent her whole life running around doing things for people who don't appreciate it and now she's tired of it and hates them for her wasted time. They also use her, she's the door, the means to get whatever they're looking to acheive, and then forgotten once they've reached it. |
The Cooper Temple Clause – Derelict Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Reminds me of my situation to the tee. There are so many reasons my relationship has broken down so many times, but the fact that we love eachother so much, and we seem to be extensions of eachother brings us back to one another time and again, no matter how self destructive we tend to get. |
The Cooper Temple Clause – Homo Sapiens Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Most certainly! I was pretty uncertain about some of the new tracks but this song has really grown on me. I love the arrogance they bring across, it's very satirical. |
Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics | 17 years ago |
In the seventh grade my teacher had us interpret this song in relation to the Holocaust. 'Silence like a cancer grows' I took to mean that how everyone in Germany turned the other way to the atrocities of the concentration camps allowed the hate and genocide to spread. Out of fear of being punished, German citizens kept quiet and dared not disturb the sound of silence. |
