Thrice – The Sky Is Falling Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I was thinking that it was more specifically about the war in iraq... |
Thrice – Weight Of Glory Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is song along with Flags of dawn is amazing. IMHO, i think that this song is about not judging other people. You should let higher beings do the judging and focus more on what is important ("take up your cross before your crown"). There is a strong biblical reference/example too. He mentions a woman, who i strongly believe to be Mary Magdalene, suspected to be a prostitute. Based on the second verse and the line that goes "Go and judge not, lest ye be judged with the girl and come down" I'd say that Dustin is saying people should not judge each other unless they want to end up in the same situation as "the girl." Very strong song and lyrics. Dustin is heaven sent! |
Thrice – Flags of Dawn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love this song but before i looked at the lyrics i thought he was saying some different things. I thougth it was more of a mid-evil fantasy type song... eh, oh well.. still a cool song! |
Thrice – The Lion and the Wolf Lyrics | 16 years ago |
not sure what this means but must say its absolutely amazing Reminds me of Hemingway and how he thought that you dont have to say a lot to tell a story. |
Thrice – Silver Wings Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yea my theory is correct... there is an obvious connection between the sonnets of the 4 elements. This one for example there is the line "I pitied you and piled your sails with air(A blessing when you rose upon my breath)" is clearly connected with "But grace can still be found within the gales; With fear and reverence, raise your ragged sail." from kings upon the main. The two songs sound a bit similar too |

Cinema Bizarre – She Waits For Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I LOVE this song! its so funny how it can be seen in two ways... Oh and by the way i think its "i made a bath while you were in the shower" so yea, this song is either about the girl asking shin if he loves her or i guess if hes gay :D she keeps asking him but he doesn't answer the question... she still stays with him even though he doesn't answer. The idea that the question might be about if he might be gay is from the "i made a bath while you were in the shower" suggesting how different they are. Theres also the fact that he looks like a girl lol. So yea, not sure wich it its but its a cool song... especially the instrumental. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – The Rose March Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm not surprised that there are no comments here... this is the first song from the EP that they released on January 1st (2008). It's supposed to be an addition to Zeitgeist and is all acoustic. They're ok but not very popular in my opinion... |
HIM – Bleed Well Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm pretty sure this song is really personal for Valo... the songs from this album were for a "close friend who committed suicide soon after the band wrapped the recording sessions for Dark Light" (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1556419/20070405/him___.jhtml) So, if you think of it with this in mind, there's a message of maybe hope or rethinking in times of depression: "If death is the answer to love’s mysteries/Then bleed on my darling to the sound of a dream" In the beginning the "demons" his friend has to kill are the things that are putting him/her in the mood of depression. The gun is the tool of suicide and as he/she gets closer and closer to actually doing it, it becomes obvious to the people around him ("With a gun loaded with guilt you opened their eyes"); they "their" he refers to is are the friends which include Valo himself. The next part i think is metaphorical: "Love preys the living and praises the dead." The "Love" that he speaks of is the people who care for Valo's friend. These people "prey[]" for the friend to live: They're hunting for the friend's salvation (from death and depression). There is also a play on words here... this word also sounds like pray so that fits too. Next, the part about being wed ("In the heart of our hearts by death we were wed") shows that by this friends sadness and suicide all the people around come together (to morn, remember, etc). The chorus shows everyone is "bleeding," both literally and metaphorically. Valo and the others are "bleeding" in the way that they are sad and wishing the best for the friend. The Friend is "bleeding" as a result of suicide or maybe the depression. The end of the chorus (the deepest part of the song IMHO) can have a double meaning: "in hell" can refer to the chaos caused by finding that their friend has died or it can refer to the idea that suicide = afterlife in hell. The next part, what the friend said, is not as absolute as i would like since I don't know the gender of the friend, but the part "And on those words a church was built to keep the pain in" refers to the people who say "oh, youll get over it" or "Just take your medicine and you'll feel better." This way of speaking is not the correct solution and only makes the person feel worse. The end tells that there is a solution but you must not live the life of a nightmare: "If death is the answer to love’s mysteries/Then bleed on my darling to the sound of a dream" Death is not really the answer to her problem: its just a dream. |

Thrice – Lost Continent Lyrics | 16 years ago |
oh yea i realize the same after i put it.. it started off as a religious idea but.... Yes, im interested in quantum physics (actually more like quantum computing).. interesting subject once again: anyone catch what they're saying at the beginning of the song.. before the lyrics (you can hear it if you turn the volume up high) |
Thrice – Lost Continent Lyrics | 16 years ago |
first of all i want to say that if you turn the volume up really high in the beginning it sounds like distorted voices.... Anyone else catch that? This song has so much passion... never gets old ________________________ Ok so heres my interpretation once again sorry about this but... [WARNING RELIGIOUS INTERPRETATION] So after listening to the other songs especially Open Water and Kings Upon the Main (and making my interpretation on that) i come to the conclusion that this may have a religious interpretation. It sounds like the message is "if we don't fix our mistakes and become more peaceful loving (whatever it takes to make use better humans) then God (or who/whatever you believe in) will punish us for it." It also can be seen as if we don't treat each other and the earth right then we will suffer from our mistakes (global warming, nuclear war/extinction, etc). The downfall of human is represented in the song by the line "we'll soon be swallowed by the sea." He also thinks that we try to ignore these things, ignore God's warnings, and deny anything bad happening. In the first verse its mentioned that in this time (or maybe all time) there is no true peace and we have suffered from it ("Was there a time...when all the children had a place to sleep... I don't believe there ever was.") The words of the politicians and theologians/philosophers are not enough and can not truly make things right ("Was there a time... when rhetoric was not enough?") In the next verse he reveals his opinion: we have always been at war (not necessarily weapon to weapon) and we still haven't figured out "what our hearts and hands [are] for." We have to use our beings to make our world livable and not a ticking bomb. If we put down our weapons, both the ones we use to kill each other and the ones that we use to destroy the earth (smog, industrial waste, etc), then we can truly find peace. He goes on to say that we choose to listen to "soothing lullaby" rather then look into reality; Because we ignore the facts and refuse to open the light on the shadows we will "soon be swallowed by the sea." We listen to politicians and who ever that tells use why we should not worry about things ("Support the War" they say... "Vote for this guy, or this woman, or that this one, he'll be a something new") but this is not who we should listen to. We should open our eyes and follow ourselves... see what's really necessary, what really needs attention. In the next part he hits us with a big one: we don't really want to hear/see the bad; we just cowards ("...do we really even want to know what's going down? Well I think no one really does.") This also has a double meaning to it. We don't want to know whats going "down" in the world and we also don't want to hear that we ourselves as humans are "drowning" due to our horrible ways. We'd "rather close our eyes; sing soothing lullabies" so that we could become calm and put ourselves in the illusion of safety. The ending, by far, is the most passionate part of the song... so much energy (i nearly cry every time i hear it). This is his warning to us: our end (due to your actions) are drawing nigh and quickly; If we don't make any actions now then we will surely meet our doom. The "water" at the end of the song represents the wrath of possibly ourselves upon our existence or maybe God's wrath. Pick your choice, but hear the meaning: change your direction, turn around, our else be drown or swept away by the rising tide. It absolutely blows my mind... and i take this song to heat.. one of their bests, yet looked over songs :[ |
Mazzy Star – Into Dust Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Judging by the time period i would say that this song is about atomic war (yes it blew my mind too!): "Still falling Breathless and on again Inside today" This is the bomb breathless and falling from the skies... "Beside me today Around broken in two" The bomb hits (and breaks in two) the city where the main "character" is living... "Till you eyes shed Into dust" When a a-bomb the tempature is so high that you practically disintegrate into "dust." So this part is fitting... when the bomb hits their eyes shed into dust... hint the gloomy feeling to the song "Like two strangers Turning into dust Till my hand shook with the way I fear" The people all around the main "character," as she is, turns into dust... their worst fear "I could possibly be fading Or have something more to gain" As their "melting away" they think in that split seccond am i fading? are we gaining (the bomb)? "I could feel myself growing colder I could feel myself under your fate Under your fate" They're under the fate and wrath of the bomb... there's nothing they can do... once again hits back to the gloomy feeling to the song "It was you breathless and tall I could feel my eyes turning into dust And two strangers turning into dust Turning into dust" It was the bomb (the "you" in the verse) that has caused the destruction... yea basically this song is about cold war scares... |

Dashboard Confessional – The Shade of Poison Trees Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i LOVE this song.. i nearly cry ever time i hear it. Its like estacy :D Personally i think of this song as a song about following or seeking what makes you happy. I totally agree with the religious interpretation seen in one of the posts above but i also see another interpretation: The poison tree represents life... when you're born you begin the process of dying (as if your poison: hints under the shad of poison trees) Some people forget about this and some people are caught up in the various happenings in their life (love, death, work, school, etc) He's saying if you know/remember/realize this then will it be in time for you to just settle yourself and "fallow just one desire;" will you be happy in the end? When i first heard it i thought of myself in the future working (im sorta of workaholic.. sometimes to the point of unhappiness and depression) and i'm in a state of near giving up due to the fact that there is no happiness.. but this is not how life is supposed to be so its important for you to follow your heart; follow you bliss. You may think that you are safe but really "Are we as safe as we like ourselves believe?" It could be tomorrow that you die and you had not been truly happy, truly blissful. in two words: Follow your Bliss... |
Thrice – Like Moths To Flame Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the ending is amazing: lyrically vocally and instrumentally. my fav part is: "And then that awful sound, the sound of prophesy fulfilled And then I met your eyes, and I remember everything And something in me dies, the night that I betrayed my king" so much passion... |

Thrice – Kings Upon The Main Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Somewhat related but not: its pretty cool how they donate some money from what they make from these cds to charity (or as it says in the CD case). |
Thrice – Kings Upon The Main Lyrics | 16 years ago |
[warning religious interpretation] There is a possibility that (after hearing "Open Water") water could be a substitute for God in the song. God does not see good in pride and especially if that pride distances you from Himself. I think that this song is about not letting your pride get in the way of your (religious) beliefs. "This lesson you'd do well not to forget./Your life could be the one its wisdom saves/At sea..." again, the sea represents God, so, the story is a sort of lesson about what you should and should not do so that God will be pleased with you ("... at sea..."). The next part goes along to say that there is no being who is above God; A mere human should not be so prideful that he thinks that he can withstand the wrath or surpass the omnipotence of God. "Despite the best of maps and bravest men,/For all their mighty names and massive forms,/There'll never be and there has never been/A ship or fleet secure against the storms." If you anger God, play with fire, then you will be burned; There is no way, no matter how powerful you are or how strong you are, that you can make your self "secure against the storms" of God's wrath. The next part goes on to say that those prideful people who believe they can avoid God will learn through God's lessons they are not as well off as they believe themselves to be. "When kings upon the main have clung to pride,/And held themselves as masters of the sea,/I've held them down beneath the crushing tide/Till they have learned that no one masters me" Once again, you can not master nature. The sea is a driving force and there is no safeguard from its crashing waves. The conclusion of the song goes to say now that you have lived my lesson go forth and be at peace: the storm has settled. "But grace can still be found within the gales;/With fear and reverence, raise your ragged sails." From this lesson you will find new found respect for God ("the sea") and learn to live a life of modesty. All in All, i think this is an amazing song. It could be interpreted differently. This is just what is see after hearing the first few songs. I'd think that there could be a possible change once air comes out: not to sure about the opinion of the element of air and what human wretchedness it represents. ____________________________________________ On another note does anyone know what the numbers on the cd's mean (the ones that are with in the air circle of the transmutation circle)? mine has "VR478" Theres also one within the triangle for "Kings Upon the Main" in the lyrics book |
Thrice – Night Diving Lyrics | 16 years ago |
some where around 3:15 you can hear this soft synth-sounding sound... im really leaning toward thinking that those are toned down distorted words of Dustian Might be wrong.. but would be cool... a little hidden message with in an instrumental song. on another note... this was well produced: the quieting, the speed, the imagery... its all so amazing its my favorite from water (even though there are no lyrics) |
Thrice – The Messenger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
wow i love the energy and intensity of this song. this one is top for the album so far. I totally agree with the people who said that this is about revealing the truth/ preaching (or spreading) the word of God. Dustian has out done himself here :] Just gets better and better... proud to be a thrice fan :D |

Kanye West – Stronger Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im not to into hip hop (god, why did i even decide to comment on a k.west song lol) but this song caught my attention when i heard it its pretty catchy and i like the tech feel to it... especially the background "chant"... i'd have to say this is my fav song by an artist i dont really care for im not really sure what the meaning of the song is (probably cause i dont know his views or life) but its very catch and an interesting twist to what its classified under: hiphop actually it would be quite hard to identify this song as hip hop -yes, it does have the trademark rhyme and hiphop feel to the lyrics, but the music behind the lyrics are untraditional and too electronic to be true hiphop (or at least what ive heared of hiphop... which i have to say has changed a lot over the years...) i dont really understand why rappers and hiphop artists have to curse in they're lyrics (yes i realize its done in other genres too) but they why he uses it hear brings a unenchanted feeling to the song --thats just my opinion -- other's maynot agree (and my flame me for that) but could have been better lyricly oh another note, the music behind the lyrics are somewhat timbaland-ic |

the "gay theory" makes no since... evidence: his childhood, the theme of the album, james helped him write the song |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Bleeding the Orchid Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im not sure but i think that the girl holding the wound on her chest has to do with the song (she might represent the orchid... which is bleeding) |
