Holy god, how has no one commented on this song? It's probably my favourite track off Rolling Blackouts! The way I put it together, it sounds like a re-awakening kind of anthem. It's very here-and-now and reminds me of what someone might feel if they 'finally made sense of it all', especially "when it's all coming back, kick-start the motor". And then there's the rationale, "Don't plan at all, cause making it up is so natural" like that's all they had to do the whole time. The one line I don't think I understand is "I would never lose my head tonight", is it meant to be like saying... I'm together again, and therefore responsible? I really don't know. |

Actually bud, I've got to agree with the initial interpretation. Remember, it isn't -that- guy singing the line "Audacity of Huge", its the backup vocals which may be singing in reference to him. It sounds like he can't understand for the life of him how this girl is eluding him, he's got everything she could want, so whats the hold up? ...Audacity of huge. |

I was able to buy this today full price in a store without hesitation, you don't get that level of reliability with many artists =) I think she's saying about how young girls view of themselves is fucked up, due to the internet. The way they think they're supposed to present themselves to boys doesn't really translate well into social networking, and it ends up giving inaccurate/unintensional messages. She even mentions twitter and iphones, two big players in social networking. And look at the CD inlay for the art page of XXXO ;) |

This is really evidently Eminem dipping his toes back in the water to see what people will say. And it's not bad, its about on par with Encore (which I didn't care for much), its just that songs like this don't really say much. Its kinda odd to think that the same guy that was saying all the intelligent things said on The Eminem Show would then turn around and sing a standard club banger. I think thats the only real downturn for him. People didn't appreciate Eminem in the first place because he got a club rocking, seriously, what? People dug him because of his insight and the truths he'd speak, his songs used to leak wisdom. It was the lines that weren't yelled loudest that stuck in your head. Who can possibly forget "amateurs drink veteran piss from a dixie cup"? I just wish he'd fuck the world off again and rap for himself, not everyone else. And I still don't know what the hell 'let your body waddle' means. |

I have a disorder known as depersonalization disorder, and this song speaks fields for how I've felt in relationships. "what with all these leaks; we'll be fine" sounds to me like they're so desperately wishing for things to work out that they're deluded. So what if the boat is full of leaks? We'll be fine. We'll be fine. "Oh I know you try, you fly, straight into my heart" might mean its not her that is the problem. Shes amazing as shes ever been, she flies straight into your heart, but that doesn't alleviate the problem. Whether you like it or not, here come the falls. This last part speaks the most for me. So much for make-believe, I'm not sold - does this love thing even fly? Has anyone ever gotten it -right-? So much for pains deceit, I'm not prepared to know - fairly ambiguous. Your heart makes me feel, your heart makes me bold for always and ever, I'll never let go - Its not a question of dedication. The bond is there. Somewhere. Always concealed, safe and inside... Alive. - Last line brings it home. Ultimately, its just a defense mechanism. She can't be trusted with your heart on the line. | lol @ people from other countries who cant understand them. Those kids got really popular on Triple J radio a few years ago for this very song (minus M.I.A. of course) and I guess she just picked up on it and wanted to collaborate. Triple J is the big national youth radio service here, without it, Australia would pretty much be void of any non-commercial music. JJJ delivers. | |

I actually thought Maggielovesafi (just above) was about to reach the same conclusion I did, I guess not. But she did at first illustrate what I envisioned the song to be about. Music is art, especially as far as these guys are concerned, taking the lyrics literally might just end up confusing. The whitest lace of light? It could be what first came to mind when someone turned the light on in his room to wake him up. It could be a detail or pattern he noticed on a girls dress. It could be anything, but interpretation is brilliant, I don't mean to stomp on anyones opinion. I think some parts of the song, especially the filmclip, hint towards viewing life as imagined, not for how it 'really is'. Seeing the world as more of a painted picture, art, rather than grey. Imagination and how you decide to see things will have so much impact on your life, what follows is the whitest lace of light, it engulfs your world and becomes yours to imbrue. The filmclip made me think this because maybe this girl feels grey, and looks 'up' to someone who DOES have this amazing beautiful outlook on life and it inspires her. Kinda like that movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, only when you meet someone so colourful does the whole world seem not so grey. |
