Colour Revolt – A New Family Lyrics | 16 years ago |
he says "laid my head down on your belly" not bell. |
Anathallo – Hanasakajijii (one: the angry neighbor) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this one. |
Anathallo – Hanasakajijii (four: a great wind~more ash) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
all of the songs off "floating world" are pretty self explanitory if you just read the leaflet in the album. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts Lyrics | 17 years ago |
and also, i liked this song a lot more before i found out it was about superman. |
Sufjan Stevens – The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts Lyrics | 17 years ago |
okay, i agree with musicforlife. "OK we've established that there's a Metropolis, IL. It has been deemed "The Official City of Superman" (or something to that effect). Every summer they have a Superman festival and they are thinking about building a theme park devoted to Superman there. I think this song is about this town's obsession with Superman and how he may be seen as a Christ figure there." and i dont even really care what this song is about because its still great no matter what. i think people are looking too far into it. |
Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this was the first sufjan stevens song i ever heard. i immediately looked up john wayne gacy, and read all about him. i love how sufjan can take a completely disgusting topic and make it beautiful. i played this song for my mom, and while she was disturbed by it, she wanted to hear other sufjan songs, and now she likes him. i love this song. no matter how strange it is. |
Sufjan Stevens – Decatur, or Round of Applause for Your Stepmother! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
actually disregard again. its his cousin going on tour with him, not his brother. |
Sufjan Stevens – Decatur, or Round of Applause for Your Stepmother! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
actually, disregard that. it's someone named Matt Morgan. I thought it might have been his brother, since I heard he will be touring with Sufjan. |
Sufjan Stevens – Decatur, or Round of Applause for Your Stepmother! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
are the background vocals his brother? |
Sufjan Stevens – The Mistress Witch from McClure (Or, the Mind That Knows Itself) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"oh my god. no one came to our side to carry us away from danger" |
Anathallo – Hoodwink Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the lyrics to this song are beautiful. i love anathallo. and the clapping/stomping is amazing. its so neat how something like that can turn into another instrument. |
Simon and Garfunkel – The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song, its so cute. |
Sufjan Stevens – What Goes On (The Beatles cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i lovve the beatles. but i must say, this version beats theirs by far. in fact, i dont' really like the beatles version at all. |
Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"there isn't any formula or method. you learn to love by loving." -Aldous Huxley |
Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so beautiful. I think massofclouds explained it perfectly. "Pulling the puzzles apart, Questions of science, Science and progress, Did not speak as loud as my heart" the music video for this is amazing. he had to learn the song backwards. |
Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love the violins and cellos at the part when they say " Sail on silvergirl, Sail on by. Your time has come to shine." it's so pretty. |
Simon and Garfunkel – America Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love how the lyrics to this song are so simple. Most of it is just a conversation. And it hardley rhymes. but it's still beautiful. I love that about Simon and Garfunkel. |
Simon and Garfunkel – Scarborough Fair/Canticle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Everyone says this song is anti war, but which war is it about? Is it just anti war in general, or aimed for a specific? |
Sufjan Stevens – Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i live about 25 miles from flint, so i know some people out of work and things. this isn't my favorite off of the album, but it's still good. |
Sufjan Stevens – Romulus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is beautiful, and is by far one of my favorite songs off of the michigan album. |
Sufjan Stevens – Springfield, or Bobby Got a Shadfly Caught in His Hair Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think that "anonymevia" makes a good point when they say that bobby is the lover and that she was explaining the aftershave. i also agree with phillyfro that the guitar makes the song. the only thing i don't like about the song is when sufjan says "and she took it for a holiday". The rest of the song is so poetic, and that one line just seems a little disgusting. |
