The Shins – Split Needles Lyrics | 16 years ago |
contrary to popular belief, I think this song is gorgeous. the final verse beginning with "you're old enough, boy ..." is breathtakingly affective on multiple levels for those of you set on keeping the Shins "mainstream," wtf? would you rather them "try" and be something when artistically they are drawn to another? I think some of what you all are saying is completely hypocritical. I find it rather funny that those of you who claim to be avid Shins fans but are outraged when the Shins try another way. guys, its experimental, that is why they are so good. get over it. |
Rasputina – Nozzle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song always creeped me out, lol, and I have absolutely no idea what it is about ... (not much help I guess) |
Rasputina – Rats Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I also think it's about corruption in the catholic religion. The pope is calling a rat something else. Rat as in a sneaky, lying, dirty person. "We'll call it all forgotten when we're done." Meaning, we'll look the other way I guess. We'll call rats something else because the pope allowed it, and we'll just forget about it." I couldn't agree more. Like lots of Rasputina songs, they will use themselves as the irony. I think it's a lot about corruption or more like "looking the other way" corruption. |
Rasputina – Hunter's Kiss Lyrics | 17 years ago |
at first I thought it was about rape, but now I'm slowly discovering that I think it's more complicated I think it's one of those things where she felt involved in some way with someone and discovered later that he wasn't in it for the same reasons, like a prey and predator relationship where the prey doesn't know she's the prey and then rape sets in, and she ends up feeling as though she has been violated, for example like someone tricking her into marriage for some reason, or how a pet doesn't think of itself as a pet, but is in fact seen as "inferior" by the owner |

Rasputina – A Retinue Of Moons - The Infidel Is Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am completely mesmerised by these songs, perhaps its Melora's chantingly "heya"s or the strong sudden cello solos and the creepy beating drums, I just am absolutely intranced by it ... |
Rasputina – The New Zero Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I never got the leaky battery line either ... |
Rasputina – 1816, The Year Without A Summer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can't believe no one has commented on this yet! I absolutely love this song. I'm pretty sure there are some people out there that have figured it out, I know there's more to it. |

Tori Amos – Mr. Zebra Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's one of those songs like Spacedog where you can take a lot out of it and it means different things to different people. Kind of like how Stairway to Heaven has a lot of cotroversy about what it really means, the metaphores in this song are endless and I think that is what makes Tori such a great writer, because it isn't straight forward and more people can appreciate it and take more out of it. |
The Phantom Of The Opera – Music of the night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"for I compose the music of the night" .... um .... not really what weber or hart or stilgoe intended ..... |
The Shins – Kissing the Lipless Lyrics | 17 years ago |
