Better Than Ezra – American Dream Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about how life can change on you before you realize it. It starts off with the midwester prom queen headed west with her boyfriend looking for a great life together. She ends up a single mother of two in a one room apartment. And she's left wonderin what happened and "where did the time go?" The song continues with the corporate business man planning to early retire until his CEO steals from the company forcing it into bankruptcy and the guy is left "working at Denny's hoping for a raise." Wondering "where did the time go?" The song ends with a personal note. The singer tells this girl about how he thinks he could've been her guy but now she's living in New York City with a family.

Better Than Ezra – Hollow Lyrics 16 years ago
This song talks about "three different souls and the lives they made" (Yet there are four people mentioned in the song, Holly, Billy, Jenny, and Mary.) It proves the point that sometimes even the finer things in life leave you hollow.

Better Than Ezra – A Southern Thing Lyrics 16 years ago
This song seems to be written as the Bonnie and Clyde of Louisiana. Kelly was already the criminal type lookin for trouble. Sara was looking for a change of pace from college life so she joins him. They travel around doing whatever they feel like doing until they get caught. Kelly tells Sara if "we ever get outta here, i want you to promise me you'll down to the gulf and swim deep in the see and you'll think of me." He basically tells her to go back to where it began and remember him and all that they used to do, even sing the "Mississippi" song they sang together.

Daughtry – What About Now Lyrics 16 years ago
To me this song is about a guy reaching out to a girl he still loves even though she left him. He tells her for all his life he is hers. He asks what if their love had never went way, what if it's just lost behind words they can't find. He's beggin her for a second chance before it's too late.

Daughtry – What I Want Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about a man who has made alot of mistakes in his life but never did anything about it until he met this girl. He never knew where he belonged or what he wanted until he realized she was all he wanted and needed. He then began to change his ways and at times it was still hard. All her friends told her to stay away from him but she stuck by him until he became everything she wanted him to be.

Daughtry – Gone Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is definitely about a guy who's wife has just left him and all the memories surrounding him are pulling him down. I can see the "once overfilled but now empty place," being a church because he later says he reaches up to the sky which could mean he's raising his hands in the air and surrendering to God for help.

Daughtry – Feels Like Tonight Lyrics 16 years ago
I think its about a guy who has made alot of bad decisions in his life, but has met a girl that he completely falls in love with. But he has previously lied to her and is "tryin to make it up to [her]" He's tellin her that tonight he's turning his life around because nothing in his life matters anymore except her.

The Fray – Little House Lyrics 16 years ago
I see it as a girl with a terrible past that she's tryin to forget about. "Something's scratchin its way out, something you wanna forget about." She's tryin to do whatever she can to get rid of those memories "Everything short of suicide." She's so hurt by her past that almost killing herself doesn't hurt and she almost succeeds. She feels like she can't talk about it with anybody "Opens up for nobody, you're the only one that'll ever know," so suicide becomes her only option. She keeps tryin to go "back to where it all began" to try to understand what went wrong.

Daughtry – Breakdown Lyrics 16 years ago
I think "the book" is the Bible. She beats him with it and then reads pieces of it to try to justify her actions. He tells her to open it and read the whole thing and maybe she'll realize what she's doing is wrong. He then says he's not goin to breakdown and break up their love over it because he believes God will take care of it.

Boys Like Girls – The Great Escape Lyrics 16 years ago
For everyone who thinks the lyrics are "Let's get drunk and RIDE around" those are only the lyrics of the radio version. I've got the cd version and it definitely says "get drunk and DRIVE around."

Barenaked Ladies – Another Postcard Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about junk mail. It's written about all the "monkeys in the mail" and how you can't get away from it. Then the singer starts finding humor in the junk mail so he looks for what's new.

Daughtry – All These Lives Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about a child kidnapping. But not by the father. If so why would glass be sprayed across the floor? That refers to an outsider coming into the home. I think the father is actually the one singing this song. (No I don't mean Chris Daughtry but the speaker of the poem.) The first verse tells of a mother starting her day like normal and an outsider comes in and takes her child. She runs down the hall only to find an empty room and broken window and it takes her breath away cause her and her husband know they're child is gone. Then he tells the abductor "They're gonna find you just believe. You're not a person, you're a disease." The chorus goes on to tell about the innocent lives the abductor has taken and how it breaks the singer's heart. All the homes now broken because of the loss of someone is a violation. Then he tells him you won't destroy my family, "i'll never let you take my world from me" hence he's coming to get her back. Then he tells of the missing person posters hanging on the walls and how there are no "calls, no clues, or traces" But he still has faith that the abductor will get caught. Slowly they're faith begins to fade and the "father, mother askin why this world can be so cold?" (Also proves that the father is not the abductor) Later on the mother calls for breakfast and she remembers that day (memories begin to fall) and asks "when will i be free?" When will this pain ever go away?

30 Seconds to Mars – The Kill Lyrics 16 years ago
To me this song is about the guy who is madly in love with this girl and he does everything he can to be with her. "He tries to be someone else" but even that's not good enough. She tells him she's "wanting more" and he asks her "what are you waiting for" i'm right here and "i'm not running from you." But she won't give in. So he tells her "look in my eyes you're killing me, all i wanted was you" Cause that feeling of love is so powerful. And since he can't express it that feeling is creating alot of pressure. So he asks her "What if wanted to break, laugh it all off in your face, what would do?" And when he's finally had enough he tells her "Come break me down, bury me, I am finished with you" He tells her i tried to fight for the rest of my life being with you, and i was never good enough (What if i wanted to fight, beg for the rest of my life). He's saying "i love you so much, i did all that i know to do for you, and yet i was never good enough. This love is killing me so i'm done i can't take it anymore, i don't want to run away, but you're killing me.

Daniel Powter – Love You Lately Lyrics 17 years ago
i can kinda relate to this song cause i've been in those shoes. to really care about someone, but they want something else, so they turn around and walk away, and your left there trying to make them stay and hoping one day they come back

i really relate to the lines "so i might of made a few mistakes but that was back when you would smile,
and we would go everywhere but ain't been there in awhile" because it was my mistakes that pushed her away and suddenly everything we used to do together was gone, but through it all you still them.

The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics 17 years ago
the first time i heard this song, i thought it was about a women in an abusive relationship and her friend (the singer) was giving her steps to try to get out, but something goes wrong, and the abuser kills her, and now the singer feels responsible for it.

"Where did i go wrong i lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness. And i would have stayed up with you all night had i known how to save a life."

The bitterness is that of the abuser to the girl. The singer admits he was wrong and that "had he known how to save a life" he would have been there with her "stayed up with you all night."
