fun. – We Are Young Lyrics 12 years ago
Don't think too much into this song. Sometimes, lyrics are bold on purpose. _Listen_ to it again with an open mind.

This song is about getting drunk and problems disappear, and everything will be "ok" for the moment.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is about you and losing yourself in daily life when an adult. The things that you've experienced when you were a kid are with you forever. You may have lost your innocence, but the feeling is still there if you let it be. It's about connecting with your inner child. "Believe" in tonight. Time doesn't matter; it has no bearing on how old you are. There is more to this, but that's a quick a overview.

Adele – Someone Like You Lyrics 12 years ago
Take it for face value. It's about a relationship that has been, and she's trying to move on. A bittersweet happyness exists, obviously. Happy that the other has found someone that clicks. Meanwhile she's still envious of the past relationship. There's nothing to fill that void.

She hasn't moved on; she hasn't found someone like this, yet. She lost a best friend.

Seems like a put on of coat armor to shield her from the past feeling felt.

Marilyn Manson – Long Hard Road Out Of Hell Lyrics 12 years ago
It's a contradiction on religion, primarily Christianity. The very thing that is "saint" is "sin." Re-read the lyrics.

Eminem – Kim Lyrics 13 years ago
To say the least, this song is fucked up. But, it needed to be put out. It's about the everyday abuse that occurs everyday. It needs to published. Some live this type of relationship day-in-day-out. It's not a reflection of of Eminem, I belive, however, it's reality for some.

Bruce Springsteen – Independence Day Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's a struggle between a son and his father.

Look here: "There was just no way this house could hold the two of us."
-Living in the same house

And here: "I guess that we were just too much of the same kind."
-Like father and son; everyone hates this, and kids hate to admit this.

"I'll be leaving in the morning from St. Mary's Gate."

St Mary's Gate is a hotel and church. More importantly, it's a church in New york. Either way, it's a place where he's staying away from the house (he's leaving "in the morning.")

Of course, there's a lot of references of Independence day (separation; get away; start own life).
-Again, the struggle between him and his father.

Keep in mind the "cute" reference of "papa"; it's a respect thing; he's going to part without fighting anymore.

"And soon everything we've known will just be swept away..."
-Reference to leaving and learning himself; finding himself.

Finally: "I swear I never meant to take those things away."
-Nice exit; a feeling of guilt; he loves his father.

Catch the over "slowness" of the song; he's not angry; he's frustrated, however.

Bruce Springsteen – Backstreets Lyrics 14 years ago
It's all there. This song isn't just about "Terry." It's about a significant other and a good friend. You can think of those persons as two "loves."

"...I hated him and I hated you when you went away."

This song jumps between those two persons (back and forth).

There's more clues about the significant other sleeping with the good friend (linking everyone together):

"Just another tramp of hearts crying tears of faithlessness
Remember all the movies, Terry, we'd go see"

It references a moment between a significant other and being unfaithful. Immediately after, he jumps to thinking about the good times with the good friend...betrayal, hurt, and then remembering the good - both are "gone."

Additionally, "backstreets" implies something out of sight and hidden - secret affair. It also implies a special relationship between him and his good friend, which the girl wasn't a part of- eventually, she wanted that link to his good friend....and, she did.

Cheers

Dom

Perfect 'hoe-down' style song representing the ignorant folks for war. Perfect.

Obviously, that guy has no respect for good music. Did I mention diversity?
