I love the song, but have to say that the lyrics are meaningless gibberish. I mean, " i got my fuzz all tipped to play " ... what? |

Regina Spektor – Eet Lyrics

Um, there is actually not an "eet" key on actual typewriters. The typewriter on the video has some fanciful and imaginary characters, of which "eet" is one.

The Flaming Lips – A Spoonful Weighs a Ton Lyrics

I agree. The sun or (some stellar superdense sunlike object) is headed to destroy the earth. Our heroes cook up a master plan and "give more than they have" in a heroic effort. They "lifted up the sun" and save the world. |

The Flaming Lips – Race for the Prize Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
I think it's more about the early scientists who were searching for the cure to influenza and Yellow Fever and the like. In those days, viruses and bacteria were not well understood, and to study them was not without risk. Several early virologists died of the disease they were trying to cure.
Also, many of them had bad home lives (or none at all) because they spent so much time in the lab. |

Liz Phair – Polyester Bride Lyrics
|
Well, firstly, what is a polyester bride? Something not good. Do you want to hang your head and cry? Do you want to spend your life shopping for boots on sale?
Of course not. These are bad things that Henry is warning the singer about. Don't get stuck in that life.
The singer asks Henry, should I bother dating unfamous men? Henry's reply is, don't settle for small dreams. |

R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics
|
"The phrase "Losing My Religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States, and means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." Michael Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression.[5] He told Q that "Losing My Religion" was "a classic obsession song. It's about someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you."[6]"

According to that fount of information, wikipedia:
"The rock band R.E.M.'s song "Losing My Religion" is loosely based on this phrase. In an interview with Michael Stipe, he states that: "... In the South, in Georgia, where we live, if you say that you're 'Losing your religion' basically means that you're at the end of your rope, or that you've had it, you're fed up" [1]."

Belle & Sebastian – Beautiful Lyrics

I'm sorry, but pornography is not an interest that you pursue, especially not women.
The line is:
She thought it would be fun to try photography
She thought it would be fun to try pornography
She thought it would be fun to try most anything
It sounds to me here that she became involved in some kind of desperate downward spiral which involved posing for pornographic pictures. How this fits in with anything else in the song, I have no idea. |

KT Tunstall – Black Horse and the Cherry Tree Lyrics

No matter how you want to call it, a stallion is a symbol of sexuality, virility, sexual potency. And a cherry is a symbol of virginity, chastity. This was the case long before KT Tunstall was even born. |

Bob Dylan – Political World Lyrics
|
In his memoir CHRONICLES vol 1, Dylan explains that he was suffering a dry creative period as well as an injured hand. He was getting uninterested in making music and thinking he might quit music altogether and become a businessman (!). Then suddenly this song (Political World) came to him all at once. He wrote the song in one sitting, with many more lyrics left over, and it re-ignited his creative energy. Oh Mercy was the result, and the rest is ... history, I guess. |

Bob Dylan – Floater (Too Much to Ask) Lyrics

Yeah, I have no idea what this song is about, if anything. But it's one of my favorite Dylan songs of all time. It has a sense of timelessness, it could have been written in the 1930's. |

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee are characters from Alice in Wonderland. Frequently used to derogatorily denote a pair of foolish people who are similar ("Dick Cheney and George Bush are Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.") Who the characters in this song are I'm not sure. |

Jack Johnson – Upside Down Lyrics

I heard this one before "Walk Alone" and must say, I like this version better, the production is punchier and livelier. It's a lovely, catchy song!
The whole CG soundtrack sounds like re-done versions of his older songs, which is not necessarily a bad idea ... |
