COG – The River Song Lyrics 15 years ago
I wonder what the name of the song refers to?

Good to see you're spending your time positively writing comments like that instead of being in a band as your so talented.

Enter Shikari – Antwerpen Lyrics 15 years ago
The start of the song is about a legend where Silvius Brabo defeated a giant guarding the river Schledt and cut his hand off and threw it in the river. I'm not sure about exactly what this means in terms of the indoctrinations etc, but maybe saying that the colonisation of many places was very violent and that the foundations of these nations came at a cost to the previous inhabitants, the passage of time has turned these things into legends and not for what truly occurred.
Just my thoughts.
Pretty cool song too.

The Academy Is... – The Phrase That Pays Lyrics 16 years ago
I have to say that I think the first line of the song refers to the fact that he is sitting in the doctors room just after he is told that he is ill and he sees his life flash before his eyes.

Amazing song by the way!

Mason Jennings – Adrian Lyrics 16 years ago
It truly is a sad song. I believe it is about someone being lynched as the man's hands are tied and it says 'as they set my last breath free' therefore meaning that he is being murdered. A terrible scenario which undoubtably refers to the horrific treatment experienced by African-Americans.

John Reuben – What About Them? Lyrics 16 years ago
This song could be applied to many aspects of society. It's easier to turn a blind eye than to do something about it and help someone else.

submissions
The Used – The Bird and the Worm Lyrics 16 years ago
I like this song but for some reason it just seems repetitive to me., which is wierd cause there are many songs that are more repetitive but that I dont even notice the repetition.

Dead Poetic – Molotov Lyrics 16 years ago
Very informative. Cool song too.

Thrice – Cold Cash And Colder Hearts Lyrics 16 years ago
Thrice are awesome because the music is amazing but then you read the lyrics and they are so thought provoking. Cold cash and colder hearts, very poetic and powerful.

Jack Johnson – Rodeo Clowns Lyrics 17 years ago
I like this song and Jack Johnson, but I reckon the coolest thing about this song is that Kelly Slater named a trick after this song as he is good friends with Jack,

Kelly Slater named one of the tricks he invented after this song.

Thrice – Deadbolt Lyrics 17 years ago
Thrice is one of my favourite bands and this is definitely one of their best ever songs. I really like how it has so many different changes throughout the song, finishing with dustin (I think ) on the piano. Perfection.

Tool – Parabola Lyrics 17 years ago
I really love this song and I really like how Parabol joins so smoothly into this. In my opinion the song is about how a persons spirit/soul is within a physical vessel of a body. Or it could also be saying that life is short and the holy experience of being alive is worth fighting for:
"We are choosing to be here right now, hold on, stay inside
This holy reality
This holy experience, choosing to be here in

This body
This body holding me "

Grinspoon – Black Tattoo Lyrics 17 years ago
Grinspoon back to their rockin best. Could this song possibly be about drug/alcohol addiction, I only just thought of that now but it seems to fit.

submissions
Sneaky Sound System – UFO Lyrics 17 years ago
I prefer Pictures to this song personally. The song appears to be about extra terrestrial activity and noone listening to the 'believers' claims. Anyway I wanted to comment cause the filmclip to this song was shot at a motel in my street (about 30m away) and you can even see my car in the background!

Tool – Forty Six & 2 Lyrics 17 years ago
Awesome song. I get reminded of it as we're doin genetics in biology at the moment. The music is hard and loud, pure Tool

submissions
Brand New – Jesus Christ Lyrics 17 years ago
This truly is an exceptionally beautiful and thought provoking song. I first thought is was mocking Christianity but after actually listening to the words it is astounding that such a mainstream band would write such an honest song about death and written as an open prayer to God. Brand New have written a masterpiece.

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics 17 years ago
Also to z-man, just because it is dedicated dedicated to a suicide victim it is still a beautiful song and uplifting at the end. The line "tommorrow just holds such better days" obviously shows that they are saying that if your depressed that it isn't forever and looking forward to better times in the future.

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is really awesome, both the lyrics and the music match so well. It's the only song I can play all the way through on guitar and it feels very nice to play and sing along with it.

submissions
Underoath – The Impact of Reason Lyrics 17 years ago
This has to be one of the best songs from this album. I really love Aarons drum work at the very start of the song, really good stuff.
I think that perhaps the song describes the narrator just hopping in his car and goin for a drive nowhere in particular just to think and have quiet time in the serene blur of the nightime passing by. "Silence is golden"

submissions
Underoath – The Blue Note Lyrics 17 years ago
Even though it isn't an actual song I believe it works really well as a serene moment before "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door" comes out all guns blazing.

Oh by the way, the DVD features on the Bonus disc are pretty interesting and well worth a look

submissions
Underoath – The 80's Song Lyrics 17 years ago
Sorry to tell you but this song is indeed called 'The 80's song'. Its a bonus track from "They Are Only Chasing Safety" Bonus Edition.
To my knowledge it is exactly the same as "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door" except the choir part has a sort of harmony.

Saosin – Seven Years Lyrics 17 years ago
Seven Years sure is one heck of a song. I especially like the drumming and anthony's singing/screaming (such smooth transitions). Does anyone know the meaning of the seven years and other seven references in the song

submissions
Dead Poetic – Narcotic Lyrics 17 years ago
I like this song. Its hard not to.
The reference of Hollywood may be an example of societal pressure to change youreslf to fit in.
"you sold your soul for an ounce of attention"

submissions
Rise Against – State Of The Union Lyrics 17 years ago
A truly intense song. I agree with shollowxgrave that it is not necessarily about the war in Iraq as it would appear at first glance. But maybe the song is about how while they are fighting the war back in the US 'the red, white and blue' the situation is almost mirrored with racism, violence etc.

The last three lines are so powerful its mindblowing, I got shivers up my spine.

submissions
Anberlin – Adelaide Lyrics 17 years ago
Its true Anberlin rock.
I heard that this song was named after the city Adelaide here in Australia, but it sounds more like it is a persons name after reading the lyrics.

The Comeback Kid – Broadcasting... Lyrics 17 years ago
Awesome song, my favourite from the new album. Yeah I agree it is about the impact the media has on society, propaganda included.
The media is constantly creating news that may or may not exist and can be a tool for evil ... the common threat sits in our house (TV, radio, etc.)

submissions
The Comeback Kid – Wake The Dead Lyrics 17 years ago
Awesome song. I agree with mrelapse that it could be about getting drug users to break out of their addiction and become 'alive' again. It could also describe breaking out of any sort of rut or bad situation people could be in.
I like the lines :
take off the dirt
swallow regret
and
RISE!

Far-Less – Everyone Is Out To Get Us Lyrics 17 years ago
Nice song! I agree with L-kyne that it is about a massive secret that is very damaging but he won't reveal it unless he needs to "escape". It then goes on to say that he will not reveal the information if he is allowed to disappear.
It reminds me of a CIA spy movie or something, really cool.
If you think that this song is confusing try to work out You Knew What This Was

submissions
Far-Less – Dialogue Supervisor (Rise Of The Pop Icon) Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is about the shortfalls of being famous and the bands wish to not be a massive commercialized band bending to the popular music scene
"Hot shot celebrities are telling me I've got to walk that way
But I just disagree
They don't have much to say
Who's gonna jump off this wagon with me?"

The lyrics I like best are... There is no better way to isolate yourself when you're in a crowded place...everyones talking and they dont have much to say.

Far-Less – You Knew What This Was Lyrics 17 years ago
This is a truly epic song. It is the first song I ever heard by Far-Less and is truly one of my favourite songs. I am not too sure about what the lyrics mean though. SO I hope someone else that is supercool comments this song and can shed some light.

Silverchair – Straight Lines Lyrics 17 years ago
I disagree that Silcerchair have gone commercial. The first time that this song was ever played on the radio was on Triple J, then the commercial stations caught on and started playing it because it is such a good song, not because the band has 'sold out'. The first The songs are all written by daniel and have become more complex as he has become a better songwriter. I can't wait for the new album.

submissions
Muse – Assassin Lyrics 17 years ago
This is such an intense and awesome song. One of the best from the album. I saw Muse live recently and their set was absolutely mindblowing. I was hoping to hear this song but they didnt play it . Nonetheless one of the best live performances I think i'll ever witness.

Nas – Hip Hop Is Dead Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm not an avid hip hop listener but the lyrics in this song really stood out.
"Everybody sound the same, commercialize the game
Reminiscin' when it wasn't all business
If it got where it started
So we all gather here for the dearly departed"
These lines sum up the message that the commercialisation of hip hop is killing it.
Great song, I can't believe more people haven't commetned on it.

Bloc Party – The Prayer Lyrics 17 years ago
I think its an awesome song but what exactly is 'slice' meant to mean? I thought I had hear the word incorrectly when I listened to it.

Thrice – The Abolition Of Man Lyrics 17 years ago
An awesome song, the lyrics have so much meaning behind them as is often the case in Thrices songs. The comments were also very interesting.

submissions
Tool – Opiate Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that the song criticizes organized religion rather than God or being Christian. Many terrible things have been done over the years in the name of religion, but this is evil people using Gods name as an excuse. These people gain power my manipulating people as shown in this song.

submissions
The Classic Crime – The Coldest Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
Great song. I totally agree that it could be interpreted as reffering to a devine or earthly being.
Does anyone else think the lead singer sounds like panic at the disco or am i just crazy, cause i like this band but not panic!

submissions
Behind Crimson Eyes – Children Of The Broken Hearted Lyrics 17 years ago
I am very surprised that nobody has commented on this song. On listening I find it disturbing that the lyrics are sung in first person as if the singer himself is the abusive father portrayed in the song. chilling.

John Butler Trio – Peaches And Cream Lyrics 17 years ago
Its strange that the album is titled "Sunrise over sea", yet this song is titled Peaches and Cream even though sunrise over sea has the most emphasis in the song

Pax 217 – what is love Lyrics 17 years ago
One other thought, this song would sound very good if covered by Underoath or similar but it would never be as intense yet sensitive as this version

Pax 217 – what is love Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is amazing. It has to be the most emotion filled song I have ever heard. Songs don't usually impact me but upon knowing the lyrics combined with the passion in it, it makes me really angry a the pathetic people that could do such atrocious acts, yet feel so much sorrow and compassion towards the victims.
God bless you all
