Digitalism – I Want I Want Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Isn't it "HAVE I not always been wanting this?" Great song, sounds like it's about revisiting your past having changed. |
Beyoncé – Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I object to the idea that if he wanted to keep her he should have proposed. He should have (both of them, actually) worked to fix the problems in the relationship. If it was simply that it wasn't real love, then why would she even have said yes? |
The Killers – All the Pretty Faces Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sounds like a crisis of sexuality to me, a guy in a straight relationship coming to terms with being attracted. |
Anberlin – (The Symphony Of) Blase Lyrics | 16 years ago |
As first lines go, "Are there no shadows were you are?" blows me away. |
Sherwood – Alley Cat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"And now I fall in love with somebody everyday As they step aside when I'm walking by, or smile at something I say" this is so much me I jumped when I first heard it. Yes, similar to both Postal Service & Death cab For Cutie, both good bands. |
The Smiths – Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is a wonderful song to cry to. Very maudelin, and the intro clears space in your head. |
OK Go – Do What You Want Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Same starshaped, but superhero works. it's a good fun song about two people feeling their way through an opposites-attract type of relationship. |
The Holloways – Two Left Feet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Such a sweet song, just a basic go-out-of-an-evening-and-meet-someone, but it's adorable |
Death Cab for Cutie – Someday You Will Be Loved Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with monkbo, it does sound like House of the Rising Sun. For a song about breaking up with someone who loves you more than you care about them, it's fairly understanding. "But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet" is a lovely line. |
Wednesday 13 – Curse Of Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Probs about necrophilia & semi-unrequited love. Saw him live last night & he did this kinda acoustic, gave me the absolute shivers . . . fantastic. "I'm your nightmare in shining armour" |
The Beatles – I Want to Hold Your Hand Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is such a sweet, innocent, pure teen love song, like feeldafury said . . . Shame since I heard my boy play it it's now indelibly linked in my brain to "I want to do a * of a lot more than hold your hand". I disagree with the opinion that they were "just shitty old pop". |
Sugarcult – Counting Stars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Incredible song . . . it's beautiful, if I'm listening to it when I'm feeling bad I cry every time. Powerful and peaceful. |
Sugarcult – You're The One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
A smart wry comment on the music business. . . and v catchy, this song is great "I'm in love but it's only temporary" |
The Fratellis – Ole Black 'n' Blue Eyes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song, a girl who's hurt but strong and independant and trying, at least, to make her own life, and really wants this guy too. I hate to "lower the tone" but on the album track I'm pretty sure the third verse goes "I guess her name was Tina coz before I'd even seen her I was lost in her wats yer name Just get me fucked eyes O come take me home eyes" |
Razorlight – Somewhere Else Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Incredible song. Who hasn't felt that they wished they could be somewhere else? Especially when you feel you were born in the wrong world, the wrong life, when you've left someone behind or they you, when everything is just turning upsideown and you're so so miserable even when you've got everything . . . I really, really wish I could be somewhere else - just anywhere else than here |
Pendulum – Coma Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Lyrics echo Brave New World. "Ever since I was born" etc refers to the training that citizens were subjected to since almost before 'birth'. The lyrics that complete that couplet are "Kiss me, hug me, snuggly bunny; Love's as good as Soma", soma being a drug. Snuggly bunny isn't quite Pendulum's style however *;-P . |
Maxïmo Park – I Want You To Stay Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of the best songs on the album, though they're all great. I always heard "mesh of tones" like mesh of /thorns/, as if they're lost in a bramble of emotions, scared to move in case it hurts. "I speak to you and you don't say no" I felt it was about a relationship that's broken down, gone bitter, and he's trying to get it back together "can you remember what we had?...you know the way I feel" because they do still love each other underneath - when " you start to push your lips to mine... it came to this" they fall back into it all over again, so as to stop being angry about the lies... It really is an amazing song, though. |
The Killers – Bones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I thought that too daviddude2, with all the referances. Almost as if he's mentally ill "an angel whispered my name" / "I always hear them in the dead of night" and tries to have proper relationships like he thinks he should to be normal "but I don't really like you", but always gets jealous or frustrated and kills or hurts her "on the cold wet dirt I cry" or knows it and is luring her their on purpose "we took a back road" "don't you wanna..." on the other hand, this is a fairly sexy song. that doesn't neseceriyl rule out death being in there too though... . . . just an idea |
Bic Runga – Gravity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this is one of her most beautiful songs, incredible. This is falling in love. thanks jjay, that does make sense |
