So, I guess I'm the only one who thinks this is a happy love song? I don't think it's her being delusional. I think she's saying that she's in love with the other person, and no matter how much she denies it, it will always be the truth. The song starts off talking about the problems in their relationship. It's mutual, because they're throwing hurtful words back and forth at each other. And so, it would be easier for her to say that they're done and move on. But the more she thinks about it, the more she realizes that her life wouldn't be the same. She'll never forget what it feels like to touch them, and she can't imagine waking up and not seeing their face. So, she decides that no, she's not going to take the wasy way out - she's not giving up on them. The chorus is pretty much reaffirming the second part of the first verse. She could break it off and tell herself she'll move on. But no matter how many times she promises that she won't miss them, ultimately she'll fail, because she does love him/her and she can't live her life pretending that she doesn't. I think the second verse is her talking to both herself and the other person. She can't forget how they look at her, or how easy it is to love him/her. But, I think she's also reminding the other person that they feel the same way that she does. S/he looks at her like he/she wants her, he takes her breath away when they kiss, and s/he understands her in a way that not everyone does. And she's saying that she loves him/her so much, and what they have is worth saving. She's not giving up, and she'll telling them that they better not give up either. Then, there's one more line. After she says she can't live a lie at the end of the chorus, she says "And I don't want to try." It's not just that she can't live without them, it's that she won't. I think this song is this person's way of saying hey, I know things are tough right now, and we may not be getting along, but I'm not giving up on us or what we have Because when it comes down to it, it's you I want to be with - it's you who I'm in love with. |

I guess I find this song more hopeful than everyone else on here. I think she's saying that they're going through a tough time in their relationship right now, but when it comes down to it, she doesn't want to throw what they have away. The song starts off saying that they aren't in a good place in their relationship, and the bad parts are both of their faults (cause hurtful words are all that we exchange). So, maybe it would be easier for her to leave this, but the more she thinks about living without him/her, the more she realizes she can't do it. She can't imagine not touching them or waking up and not seeing their face. So, she's not going to take the easy way out; she's not going to give up on them. Then, it goes into the chorus. She could say it's over and try to convince herself that she doesn't love them anymore, but no matter how many times she could say it, it'll never be true, and she can't "live a lie" I don't think this is a breakup song, and I don't think she's delusional. I think it's about how the time in a relationship where it isn't going well, and you have to decide whether or not it's worth sticking around for. I think of it as a love song. it's saying that things are crappy right now, and this relationship is at a low, but I want to work at this, because it's you I want to be with. |

I think abeesting pretty much got the meaning head on. "fact and fiction fading into one confusing blend" I think that line says a lot. It's how you hae all these memories of the person that were great, but you're not even sure if they were as good as you remember them because the person seems not to care about you anymore. Sometimes you make the memories better than they were. "boy you got it easy leaving starting over fresh abandoning beginnings that you brought to life and left" The first line makes it clear that it was him who left, and he got the easy part of it, because she's the one who has to see reminders of him, and he got to go to a new place where he was able to create a fresh new life. "so pack your bags and say goodbye and call me sometime friend but i don't mind... calling this the end" She's basically saying that if he ever tried to get in contact with her, she'd be welcome to it, but she's accepted that if he doesn't, she's fine with that as well. |

Kenny Chesney didn't write it in case anyone is wondering. but I don't think that's too important. He sings it so sadly. I always thought it was about a guy who lost his son when he was still a young child or a baby. I don't know why exactly, it's just that I got that impression when I first heard it, and to me it sounds like he's singing about a little kid. I think he's talking about a child because of the way it's written. He talks about what the person he's talking to would name his kid's. He talks about the hell he has been through, and that no one could take the person's place in his heart. The blue skies make me think about the song that way, the most. In reality, I know it could describe anyone who died too young, girl, boy, friend, sibling, nephew, neice, etc., but to me it's about a little toddler boy. The song makes my heart hurt. |

I think Saving Jane must be where Taylor gets some of her inspiration. The melody [of the chorus] of I'd Lie sounds almost exactly like the chorus of "Girl Next Door." And this song also has a few similarities to that song. To me this song is plain and clear. She's been there for him through everything, but he's dating a girl who is the more obvious choice. The boy is clueless about her feelings. To her, she's perfect for him, but he doesn't realize it. She understands his moods and his feelings better than his girlfriend. She doesn't buy "I'm fine" because she know him better than that. He just needs to open his eyes. The part about laughing with him on a park bench, kind of fits how I feel/ used to feel about this guy. You realize when you're talking how easy it would be to be a couple. It just seems so natural. About this song, she said, "I came into the writing session with Liz Rose and said….I’ve got this idea. I had overheard a friend of mine talking to his girlfriend and he was completely on the defensive saying, 'No, baby...I had to get off the phone really quickly...I tried to call you right back...Of course I love you. More than anything! Baby, I’m so sorry.' She was just yelling at him! I felt so bad for him at that moment. So I came up with the first line “You’re on the phone with your girlfriend, she’s upset, going off about something that you said,” and I ran that into the story line that I’m in love with him and he should be with me instead of her. Anyone else notice the many references of rain in her fearless album? In this song, Fearless, and Hey Stephen, kissing in the rain is a positive thing. Rain is mentioned in Forever and Always, but it has a negative connotation. This song is about having the perfect boyfriend who treats you well. He likes you, he gets along with your parents, even your friends are jealous of your relationship, but... There's this other boy whom you dated who wasn't perfect in any way. He was wild and crazy, and frustrating. He acted insane. The two of you fought and even now you almost hate him (cursing your name), but it was passionate and real. I don't really know if she's still in love with him, or she just misses the way she she felt when she was in love. It was "a roller coaster kind of rush." She never knew she could have so many feelings about one person. She had no idea she could have loved him (or anyone for that matter) so much. "Got away by some mistake" I think this line just means that even though they had a rocky, intense relationship, she can't remember the exaact reason why they broke up. I remember reading that she based it off of an idea, not a relationship she had. Still, I think it's a very powerful song. In the verse's she's talking about the boy she's currently dating. It's very calm and rational, and controlled. Then in the chorus, when she's talking about the guy she was in love with, she unleashes her energy and frustration. All in all, one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs. |

I think this song shows why Taylor Swift is such a popular artist. She sings about things girls actually go through. She's just talking about her life when she was fifteen, and she's trying to give a little advice to girls who are at the same point in their lives as she was. She talks about boys and her first kiss, and how at the time, they seemed like the most important thing to her. She even thought she was going to marry one of them. She also talks about her best friend Abigail. She shows how their friendship was all laughs making fun of other girls who thought "they were so cool." They both wanted to get out of their town. Then Abigail gave her heart (and possibly her virginity) to a boy who "changed his mind" and they both cried. Abby cried because she was heartbroken, and Taylor cried because her best friend was in pain. I think this is a beautiful song. They had a fight in the room (or a lot of fights), and she said things that she didn't mean, and that came out wrong. Then, the room was filled with silence, because the person left. She blames herself for the person leaving. She knows she has to move on, but it's hard for her to just let them be. The four walls of the room failed her. She lost trust in the walls because they weren't able to keep the person in the room. I also look at it as she made some kind of huge mistake that let someone else down. The walls held the secret, but eventually, the other person found out about it. So, because of her, they left. |

He drove into a tree, and there's something about the line "I guess you found another way home," that makes me really sad. Like “Artists Against Success,” “Alternate Records” and “Candid Records.” Maybe even Fearless Records could be included If you mean no publicity, then I guess you could say Joe Brooks is indie or underground, and he’s definitely not. If you like those bands, you might like Ednaswap, if you’ve never hard of them. They have a girl vocalist, which doesn’t seem to be your preference, but they’re awesome., and I hope you like them. And you’ve probably already heard of the Weepies, but they’re amazing too. I’m not coming back on this song anymore, so you can have the last word if you like. She's fifteen, and while I don't think she's the best singer in the entire world, she's got the "it" factor. She needs to face up to this person to find out the truth, and it's the scariest thing she feels she has to do. I don't think it necessarily has to be about facing up to a person that you felt romantic feelings for, though. The lyrics are brilliant, and the music compliments it nicely. I do have a question. My favorite from Cauterizeand my favorite part of this song is the bridge. I think it's about loving someone and right now it's at the end of a relationship. I think he's kind of numb from the pain now, like he's gone through all the fights they've had so much, and he's basically given up on the relationship. Sure, he still loves her, but he doesn't love what they've become, and he's saying that he wants to forget the relationship and forget her face in order to move on. She could have just written the song to write a song. That's what I do. It would be cool if it was on her album, but if Disney is the one producing it, then it probably won't be. Someone above me said that Jesus wouldn't say there is a designated season for hate. I disagree. We shouldn't love or embrace evil, so we should hate it. Also, without hate, there can't be love. Love wouldn't be so important to find if there wasn't hate. There's more hate than love in the world, but love is stronger than hate, and hopefully it will prevail. All the little lessons we learn in kinderegarten about compromise and getting along are lost on the way to adulthood for most people, and I just hope that there are people who still want peace. I can't believe I'm the first person to comment on this song. I really like this one. It's not their best, but it's one of my favorite nonethless. The music video is actually pretty fun to watch- just a bunch of clips from the beginning of their music journey to where they are now. It wasn't what I was expecting exactly I don't really know the meaning, so I'll go for a couple options. It could easily be about war. It might also be about a relationship-not necessarily a romantic relationship, though. "Wear our scars above our arms and covered up Should we keep this open ended, just for us" I love that line. I think this song is different than a lot of their other stuff. I like how they have such a variety. And a third thing the song could be about is how they dealt with their previous record label, and about the reflections in all their impurities. I happen to love miley cyrus's songs for the most part, and I'm sure the people who commented previously do too. I don't see why people are so ashamed when they like her. I've heard countless singers who are way worse than she is. It's so addicting to sing in the car with the windows rolled down. As for if it's about Nick Jonas, whether or not they dated is an issue that kind of annoys me. Either they did or they didn't. I don't really care either way to be honest. She's had other boyfriends. It might not even be about anyone. I've written songs about no one in particular. It's just a pretty kick ass song that I love. The meaning is kind of obvious. Mosto f her songs are, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It makes me think about the movie 10 Things I Hate About you. |

I remember when they were just starting out and I was looking at their demos before their album even came out. They've come so far since then. This is my current favorite on their album. It used to be Dance Hall Drug, but it changed. Some of the lyrics are wrong, but they're pretty close. Basically this song is about a love that was lost and how hard it is to move on. |

It's like what angelbehavior18 said. I thought it was going to be a wedding song, even though it starts off with sad slow music. I thought Just a Dream was going to mean her wedding is like a fairytale dream. Then I heard "She heard the trumpets from the military band And the flowers fell out of her hands" and realized what it's about. This has got to be one of the saddest songs that I have ever heard. Whether or not you know anyone in the war, I think it's a song everyone can relate to in one way or another. |

I was laughing at some of the comments people made. People are taking this song too seriously. Basically, it's just saying that when a guy cheats on you, you want to hurt him as much as her hurt you, and he deserves to have his car smashed up. I like her other songs much more, but this is a good one to sing along to when you're mad at your ex. It might not have the greatest message, but who cares? Just enjoy the music and stop overanalyzing it. |
