VNV Nation – Airships Lyrics 17 years ago
Hmm, it's indeed possible that this song is about religion. That's not how i felt it, however. But that is probably because i feel so much love for some certain individuals, who certainly do spread warmth and love. But now that i think about the sentence in which "the sum of their dreams" is in, it sounds more reasonable that it is indeed regarding god. However, all the things that he's saying really do fit in on what i feel for my beloved. Perhaps i love her too much. But on the other hand, i couldn't possibly be alone with feeling like this. So a different theory is i believe this is about a person. Someone who has enabled him to move on. He accepts his past, but admits that he is not entirely only his past. He can create a future now, and she has been the greatest affecting factor in this making of possibilites.
In the most wonderful of worlds, he creates a new future with his beloved, defeating all that his past has caused. Beautiful as hell and the dream with capital D for me.

VNV Nation – Fearless Lyrics 17 years ago
Yes, he tells himself he's not alone, afraid, or unhappy. This is something everone does. Only, he explains it in words. He goes trough this process everday, and i think most of us do. Perhaps most often subconsciously.
Again, here is the message that one is never alone with one's emotions; we're all humans. Elven Honor's analysis covers the rest of the details pretty good.
This is perhaps my favourite VNV Nation song contesting with Epicentre, Genesis and Beloved. They're such strong songs, probably because i recognize myself very often in them, and naturally because of the sound of the songs and the motivation of the singer.
Now, Elven Honor, i'm wondering what exacly you're meaning with your parenthesis. "(Sorry for being long winded, I am afterall an American, and a proud one too)."
What does Americans have anything to do with this? Is it characteristic for an american to be long winded? And proud? It seems like it's a bit taken out of the blue. Just curious, not offensive in any manner.

VNV Nation – Entropy Lyrics 17 years ago
"Disconnected, but not alone".
That's a powerful sentence. Even if you're feeling lost and misadjusted, you'll never be alone with feeling that way.
This can be applied to any feeling of suffering. We are so many humans on this earth. One is never alone. And even though one may have experienced something noone else ever will, or have, we are all humans and we all work in a very similar way, obviously. It's easy to forget that, though. Or even come to that conclusion. So hard, when all the suffering blinds you.
When in that topic, "Abusing love and, like a child,
Inflicting pain upon itself", gets me thinking of how i handle emotions. However, since the rest fo the song feels more inclined towards the entire human race, i remain with the theory that this is something characteristic for the human. Always, out interpretations get in the way. And much to often, we judge without sufficient information. Even if you may be the most intelligent person in the world, you cannot have good judgement in a question you do no not know enough of.
