The Korgis – Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime Lyrics
| 12 years ago
|
I completely agree with shooter. In fact, their interpretation is exactly what I came here to say. It's a simple song asking someone to learn what it is to love.
As general commentary I think this is a great song with fantastic sentiments. A lot of songs interpret love as an instinctual/innate thing, when it is fairly obvious that one has to learn how to love and what love means to them. It's fair enough to say "you know it when you feel it" but you still have to be able to define it in your own terms in order to live it. |

actually i think it could also be possible that the chorus is referring to the partner of the girl he has been sleeping with as opposed to the girl herself |

Los Campesinos! – By Your Hand Lyrics

this song is about a guy who is generally an asshole, he treats a girl badly, uses her for sex and she falls for him, and it turns out she was probably just one of the crazy ones, it escalates to a point where he begins to get paranoid about how things are going to end and how she will react, maybe he can smell her baking a plan for revenge ("i've been dreaming you've been dreaming about me"). he doesn't want a relationship and she's really into him. the line "remember what your heart is for" is almost a plea saying "please don't take revenge on me!". like too many men he wasn't honest from the beginning and won't apologise. |

Oh Land – Break the Chain Lyrics

the lyrics are quite literal here. i've read she had to quit a ballet career due to an injury, which led to her becoming Oh Land |

Oh Land – Release Me Lyrics

I think this is also another song about her injury which made her give up her dancing career... like Break the Chain. This one is bit more depressing though. Still, a beautiful vocal performance! |

Oh Land – Perfection Lyrics

sounds to me like the song is about striving to be the exact type of person you think the person you love is looking for. the song sounds like she is referring to someone specific - maybe a past lover or someone she knows her lover to have eyes for. when she speaks of the person as holding her head in her arms etc I think she is referring to the duality in her character between her true self who she has no connection with and the idea of perfection that she is continually striving toward. i also think these references highlight the connection between obsession and perfection - making it sound like her idea of perfection is an entirely separate entity.
i can definitely relate to this but on a more general level - whenever my boyfriend makes any compliment or nice comment about any female (even fictional characters) you bet your ass I've put them all into my "collection"
i guess my interpretation could be quite superficial (a lot of Oh Land seems quite abstract) so does anyone else have opinions? |

Radiohead – Lotus Flower Lyrics

sometimes I hear "polluted" not "ballooning" - can anyone actually interpret that line anyway? are there no official lyrics?
well i definitely agree for an interpretation leaning towards an affair or desire for another conflicting with a current relationship. the cat/mouse verse is the most transparent but the whole song seems written for this idea.
this song speaks to those parts of my emotions which are so simple yet so difficult to deal with. the moon on a stick just to see what if? yeah, if only. genius song. i was so disappointed with the album in general, but this song is proving it might just be a grower (or an overdue volcano, y'know) |

Jack Johnson – Bubble Toes Lyrics

I like NIN and Bjork too, oh so very much, however Jack Johnson is still great. Not just about chilling out to either, some of his tracks are more melancholic and some, like Bubble Toes, are more upbeat.
Anyway, I came here because my boyfriend is trying to learn this on guitar right now and I wonder if I can figure out why (it's not my favourite JJ...)
I think it's because of the jellyfish line. |

Pretty Girls Make Graves – Sad Girls Por Vida Lyrics

GUYS THIS IS ALL GREAT but what is the song about?! I'm not good at interpreting a lot of songs but I get the inkling it could be about her betraying someone within a relationship, regretting it, but really wondering how good they are together... there's lots of contradiction in this song which is why I interpret it this way. I really want to hear other people's opinions though... |

Björk – Possibly Maybe Lyrics

dig a little deeper
i dont think its about sex
i think its about a girl who meets guys often, builds expectations about them, enjoys time with them, then when they show an interest back realises she cant let them in so forces herself to end it completely, then goes back to being solitary which is what she realises she enjoys...
"possibly maybe" the title says it all, each time she meets someone they could be the one she finally opens up to. |
