Placebo – The Crawl Lyrics 15 years ago
Loved this song from the moment I heard it. I always had the thought it was about a drug suicide of a friend, But just couldn't put my finger on it.

Reading the lyrics now (after all these years) I see a entire new meaning.

I get the feeling the Song is hiding a story not a moment. And It is actually about a Marriage separation. Its very cryptic, And at first I didn't see it.

The separation is brought about from alcohol not drugs. A farther or mother becomes an alcoholic forcing the separation.... Later the Farther/mother reflects on what they have lost.....Possibly a family!.... Hence the story is being told from a child's eyes?

Just a thought.

Could it be about Marhumid arlli? (spelling)
Before he was committed of murder he was disdained by many Anglo people...

I like RichardHarrils theory too.

Iron Maiden – Can I Play With Madness Lyrics 15 years ago
Hmmm, Some young-uns still getting into the Maiden. Good stuff.
Now.... To understand the Song you have to understand that the Entire ALBUM is actually a Concept album!
Its about, as said the Apocalypse of the end. Its more a biblical Story of Satan verses God. And the entire album tells of this story unfolding.
'Can I play with Madness' Is about a caricature that is pulled into the story, and believes he plays a part in the way the events will end. If he chooses to ignore the "Signs" it may be his own demise. And so he has to Help the "Chosen one" Live... Which is an unborn child.
There are movies based on the story. One going back to the 80s called the 7th sign.

And as of the Black sabbath comment. Buddy, clearly your ignorance is showing your age. Black sabbath not only ARE Metal, But was the THE Band that MADE METAL what it is. They first hand created metal. If you look back on what sounds where available in the same period, You'll see that Sabbath was a ground breaking and original (Heavy) band.
The only band that came even close was Zepplin. And I can tell you, Zep, has nothing on metal!!!

Cake – The Distance Lyrics 15 years ago
Dragonnette had the meaning close.
When this song first became a hit on the radio. The singer was interviewed about the songs success.

And was asked what the song was about?..... John said, "it was a story about a guy that had great desire for a woman, and badly wanted a relationship with her. But the Guy is to shy to "Go the Distance", "or go that extra step to let this woman know that he had feelings for her.
And in a twist of fate another guy comes along and sweeps her off her feet. The original guy then misses his chance". The song is about his feelings of what he misses out on.

The interviewer then asking John, of rumors of the song being directly related to him and the song is actually about an experience he onced lived?
Where there was a long pause from John, and he said (very timidly) "Whell, I'm not really going to say whether there is any truth in that or not"

Its probably fair to say the Song 'Frank Sinatra' (a cover song) is borrowed for its meaning of his anger and resentment (with in himself no-doubt) of this incident.

System of a Down – Soldier Side Lyrics 15 years ago
I forgot to add. If you read the lyrics to '1916' of Motor Heads song. Its also about Teenagers going off to war. A lot more direct in its meaning. But you get a bigger picture of what Vietnam did. And HOW F***ked war is!
But we hear (Australia) aunt brainwashed into believing that war is necessity!!!

I great deal of SOADs songs reflect war. And this one seems no different.
Does it reflect the Past or present? I was thinking it is actually a thought about the Teenagers/ younger men that went into the Vietnam war. Only to find that once their. they sore that a life as a soldier was a hell of a lot bigger then those guys could deal with! MANY came back f****d up (mentally).
.... I've seen a few of them. They came back as totally different people as to what they where when they left. And they never "Fit-in" with the rest of society. Thus leaving them in a world (in there own mind) that ONLY they know!

Judas Priest – Exiled Lyrics 15 years ago
I was led to believe that the entire album was based on Nostradamus?
Was he catholic?.. In those times it would have been hard to be with his "gift" of prediction, as the church was law and would have seen him as a witch and possibly a threat to the catholic ways... Something that they would see you executed for!
But I could be wrong?

Its one of the best ballads I have heard from these guys yet.
But I thought the song was about, him leaving the place he grew up in after the plague took his family, and he left and moved into the most infected area's to help the sick... Possibly, he wished it would be easier to deal with what he was going through, to just die himself! which we know he didn't.

What is about QLDers and there God damn 'Better then every one els Attitudes'?... Don't even Go there Bud,... I wasted to many years in your so claimed paradise.. Best thing I ever did was pack my bags!

As to any ref to the song.. IF it is about being under the influence, I would think Its about being on A BAD Trip. Not on some plateau.

My Chemical Romance – The Sharpest Lives Lyrics 17 years ago
I actually thought the song was plainly about Drug addiction!
At first I was thinking it was about a lover of the writer whome was the addict. But the comment of "the band" with "the boys" makes me think it may have been one of the members that was with the addiction?

I also had a thought it may be a referance to the Fame of Musicians that make it in the music industry and fall victom to drug abuse? like so many before them.

James Blunt – Billy Lyrics 17 years ago
my first thought and still is, that the songs reference was about a person facing Death Row, And the song is about this persons last thoughts. And of course the regrets that put him in the position that he has no power to change, Wich if given the chance he would change. But as many know. You cant change time. once you make a mistake, Its made!
Then maybe im speaking from personal experience.....
(And NO, im not sitting on Deaths Row.) lmao

James Blunt – Tears And Rain Lyrics 17 years ago
Once I first got hooked on this song I asked myself what in the hell was its meaning? Its a truely personal song, wich I felt was a glimps of james's view of how he himself looks at the world and what he has experienced!
once I read the lyrics of the Album I was supprised to read that it appears that Most if not all the songs are about Pain, Sorrow, And Death.
This song come aross to me as a Song of Morning a Death of some one greatly Close to Him. Or that Experience of Loss, Emptyness, Anger, Lonelyness etc. you feel when you loose some one dear!
Its that Emotions and termoil you feel, And how one deals with it.

Metallica – Breadfan (Budgie cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Oh... I almost forgot..
The idea of the band (Metallica) Producing the Covers was to pay Homage to the Orginal Bands! It was there way to say

"Thanks Guys, Because it was you guys that made us this fucking crazy, And to be influenced to write(later on) our own material"

IT WAS NOT or ever was, to Rip them off! or to make a fast buck!

Metallica – Breadfan (Budgie cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Time to chime in me thinks..
To the dude that stated that Metallica are hippocrits for releasing a song about "Greed" when they them selves are NOW rich is short sited!! The song was produced by Metallica Loooooong before they where rich!! At this time very few people still never knew who Metallica even fucking where!, It wasnt till the Justice Album that Metallica made there name common... Prier to that, It was us young bangers in the back rooms slammin out Ride the Lightning or Kill em all!!!!

And The intire "Garage" CD release was a spin-off of the Original LP way back in the 80s (Garage Days Revisited) ...The name revisited was a slant on RE-used, or RE-written... The original concept LP was totaly filled with copied artists previous Work. James him self states this some where.... I'd be fucked if I recall where.

Long live Metal
