Guys, only a handful of people listened to the 1991 "album" (i.e. a demo cassette) before NMH gained notoriety years later. Neither artist ripped the other off. It's a SUPER basic 3-4 chord progression that's probably been used in countless songs. It's about a million times more likely that they both strummed the same rudimentary tune while fucking around, as opposed to a punk band listening to the demo cassette of a folk-ish band literally on the opposite side of the country. |

The lyrics in the song indicate that the protagonist is constantly talking about things that he supposedly could do if he wanted to, but doesn't bother because he's above all of it. The title implies that he's not, and probably not capable of following through on any of his boasts. also the title is probably a continuation of a song called "False Jesii Part 1" by Teenage Depression, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the song/band, so big ol' shrug there. |

I think the song is about trying futilely to save someone from themselves. "The arm" plays a pretty big role in the record i think, because it simoultaneously reaches out to hold but also holds back. The idea behind the arm here, i think is literally somebody reaching out to save someone, but illustrated more figuratively with the idea of the jaws of life.
