Please have some respect. That is my first and biggest thing. Have respect for Eminem, Proof, Keith Bender, everyone posting on this song. This song is lyrical genious. It is not about Proof's death, as it was written and was released 2 years before Proof was killed. This song is about the rap wars that are ruining the genre of rap. Rap wars have been around for almost 20 years, it's nothing new. Now some of you are starting the same shit that Em is saying. Just stop the bashing of everyone. Eminem released this song for a reason. If your a fan of this song and of Em, respect his wishes. Like many people, when I heard that Proof was killed I instantly thought of this video and how scary it is. It foreshadowed Proof's death, and reminds me of one of the closing scenes in the movie Stand By Me when River Phoenix's character is murdered and fades into the background. Years later he suffered a drug-induced heart failure. I can't imagine how hard it is for Em, D12, and Proof's family and friends to watch the video to this song and see their loved one like that. |

Andrew is a genious songwriter and always makes you dig deep for the hidden meaning in each song he writes. Sure on the surface it's a perfect lullaby. But underneath I think that it's unrequited love. A boy that loves his best friend. He's always loved her but she never lookd to him to be that support. The "Soon I'll be leaving you, but you won't be leaving me." IMO means that He's not gonna wait forever for her to realize what they could have, but she won't leave him in the platonic sense. |
