The Knife – Neverland Lyrics 14 years ago
agreed w/ gummo5 (and not only b/c his/her name refers to an awesome movie).

sitting in a car (not driving, but heading) [to] neverland with a plan, fancy man, dancing for dollars, nothing worse than an angry man, bump shoulder and tell a story, follow steam into another room....

yeah if any of you had ever been to a strip club this scenery would be pretty familiar.

And the kicker is singing for dollars, completing the musician as prostitute metaphor.

It's not a stretch, and it certainly isn't the first time I've heard a musician refer to themselves as such.

The Michael Jackson theory is hilarious, though. Bubbles was a chimp, not a monkey.

The Smiths – Ask Lyrics 16 years ago
The 'Bomb' in the song is not a reference to war. The 'Bomb' is the question: Do you love me?

A.k.a., yeah, man, she dropped the bomb on me.

He's basically saying, that if you ask me if I love you, and I say no, then the 'bomb' (the question) will bring us together, at least in friendship, so don't be afraid to ask. Obviously directed to another man, even with that facetious verse about the girl from luxemburgh.

Thin Lizzy – Whiskey in the Jar Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the earlier analysis by cpt fecal and that other guy were essentially correct.

I'm pretty sure Molly is a prostitute, and that's where the protagonist spends all his money. In "Tricked me easy," trick might have the slang meaning; or in the alternative, Molly tipped the Captain to collect the reward money-- while also taking the protagonist's money for sex. Dirty Molly...

And for this whole Thintallica debate: It doesn't matter. The members of Metallica were big fans of Thin Lizzy and their style was influenced greatly by the band; take Metallica's dual lead style for instance, which Hetfield openly admits taking that from Thin Lizzy. So you see, you can't hate Metallica without hating Thin Lizzy because Thin Lizzy is inherently in their sound. And you can't hate Thin Lizzy if you like Metallica, because Metallica was inspired by Thin Lizzy.

So you see, it really doesn't matter.

Thin Lizzy – Cowboy Song Lyrics 17 years ago
My friends used to laugh at me for liking this song. I still think it's one of the greatest songs ever recorded. I don't even think the west or cowboys are cool, this song is just that good, it makes me look past the obvious ridiculousness of a half-black brit singing about cowboys and riding bulls and all that.

I think the meaning of this song is pretty clear: Phil Lynot wants to be a cowboy. Yes, the lyrics are a little silly, but when that second guitar solo comes in, I crap my pants every time.

Thin Lizzy – Running Back Lyrics 17 years ago
I used to listen to this song and think about my wife before we were married. I love the guitar solo, even if it isn't all that complicated to play.

There isn't really a deeper meaning to this song, but it's simplicity makes it one of the better songs on Jailbreak. It was supposed to be the first single from the album, which explains the slightly higher production quality.

Thin Lizzy – Warrior Lyrics 17 years ago
The album Jailbreak has a fantasy theme somewhat inspired by the comic books and other popular culture at the time. In The Warrior, we get the image of a futuristic soldier (silver sreen) and professional killer, possibly killing for the sake of killing-- or perhaps he's a space mercenary?

The bit at the end about his head and heart is hard to reconcile with this theory. Perhaps he has been wounded by a lover (emotionally) and is killing and causing mass destruction until he gets over being dumped or cheated on.

Anyway, this song has one of the best drum solos ever. Mr. Brian Downey has influenced my style a lot, and this song seems written almost exclusively to showcase his talent. How many songs have drum solos these days?
