The Naked And Famous – Jilted Lovers Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Such a phenomenal song about a relationship in the process of breaking down. The feeling after fights. |
Letting Up Despite Great Faults – In Steps Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Underrated song. I take the first part to mean that the relationship could have been so much more had there just been a prod, an emergency to force it. Instead what is left is just the memory, a hollowed shadow of what used to be. Summer came too early. More time in the school semester or in spring would have brought it too fruition. Instead now, he has to wait until next semester or after whatever is going on to hopefully fulfill what was meant to be. Everything in life happens in steps. Unlikely yet wishfully, this can too. |
Ohbijou – Cliff Jumps Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sometimes it surprises me what is commented on and what isn't. I'm not sure if this is talking about the lyrics - but the part after the bridge of 'I'll be everything' when she sings the wordless outro is the most evocative and fulfilling moment of the entire song. I want that moment with me all the time. |
Ohbijou – Make It Gold Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song is wonderful. |
Ohbijou – New Years Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Perfect story of two lovers departing from the hustle to be alone with one another. Couldn't be more beautiful. |
Ramona Falls – Melectric Lyrics | 14 years ago |
First repeat listen session - relationship gone awry? I love the yearning to re-energize the relationship. |
Mirah – Generosity Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song kills. |
Röyksopp – The Girl And The Robot Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I actually love the lyrics. So many people have become zombies for work, ruining families to try to promote their social status. Yeah, it's no Tennyson, but I love the heart. |
Copeland – On the Safest Ledge Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Why can't every song make me feel this way? Easily in the top 3 of this album. 'Each step will find the next one recklessly' Falling (in love, failing, through the sky, in life) is literally rocking my thoughts lately. The imagery in this song puts those thoughts into perspective with a simple 'It's fine.' His falsetto makes it so comforting. And Rae Cassidy needs a record deal. Her voice is such a contrast to his but fits so well in that bridge. |
Duncan Sheik – Hymn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Everyone of his albums has this pervasive feeling over the entire span of playing. His first album had an acoustic, young feeling, his 3rd album, Phantom Moon, was filled with this somber reminiscence, etc. This album contains the feeling of beauty. Like exploring a favorite artist, such as seeing another Monet, or reading a poem that reaches into your soul, each track on this album opens to me like this. I don't think White Limousine is his best album; He has other ones that are more complete. What i do think about White Limo is that he manages to touch on a culture in turmoil with his lyrics and combines it with a delicacy in his music that creates this unstable picture like early abstract painters. The beauty intensifies as the album draws to a close ending with this song, the most beautiful. I can argue with myself whether it is the most beautiful of any of his songs which I refrain from doing on this long drawn out comment. To the song: I love how for the basic verses he takes a word and repeats it at the beginning of each line. It adds this choral, ambient effect, something he was trying to achieve on this album. The splendor and purity of the moment is enhanced with the effect. The situation described by the lines in the song I feel that every person must have desired at some point in their lives. The lyrics allude to those 'perfect' moments. The ones that we wish to happen for eternity, the ones that steal your thoughts for life, the ones that you look back on to find comfort. How many of those will we have? How many of those could we possibly dream of possessing? This song brings about thoughts of love and my aim for life - To find someone to share those moments that are most dear, to watch those sunrises that signify the end to a perfect night. |
Duncan Sheik – Star-Field On Red Lines Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ignoring the lyrics entirely which deserves some dwelling upon to understand their intent, what this song manages to produce is extreme relaxation over a shaky subject of American dominance and commercialism. It's oxymoronic to me, yet it's beauty pulls you in. I'm too big of a DS fan, so i can't say things like 'this is one of his best songs' because i treasure them all. But, this is probably one of the better ones he's made. |
Duncan Sheik – Fantastic Toys and Corduroys Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I can't stand when beautiful songs have no comments on them, so i feel i needed to make it at least to one. I love how this song contains many allusions to different periods and moments of unappreciation in his life, as though reminiscing upon his life to all these times where things could have gone better for their relationship. I don't know anyone that hasn't taken his/her mother for granted during their lives. It isn't until you lose the connection that the regret sinks in. I lost my mother 7 years ago. When I hear this song, I feel her near me and the words come off like a subtle prayer to her. There's no medicine that can cure my regret and sorrow for her like this song. |
Beirut – Elephant Gun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The writer/everything Zach Condon has expressed his apathy towards lyrics in multiple interviews so i don't know if it will be anything that deep. I keep going back to his experiences with gypsies and the Balkan feel of the music and keep coming back to that. More of a fight the man/monarchy kind of song or die trying. |
Sufjan Stevens – I Can't Even Lift My Head Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The man is magic. I always go on streaks with this song, listening to it 20 to 30 times in a row. It is one of the best songs to have in your pocket for a somber mood. I take the song at the obvious - he screwed up and he can't even bring himself to talk to the person he screwed up with. Except this is a perfect song representation of it. |
Further Seems Forever – Lead the Way Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can see how the lyrics could be taken either way. i think that the ambiguity of it makes it better, but if this song isn't about salvation, then i have no idea what a song about salvation sounds like. "You come closer to me Breaking through to you And closer, hiding all" Beautiful. I wish everyone had a relationship with Christ to take this song to the plane it is supposed to be listened on. |
Further Seems Forever – Make It a Part Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love won't let you die alone - there are lines that get you, and then there are lines that will stick with you forever. This line does it both. Make the struggle yours because Love (Chirst) is always with you. |
This Day & Age – Eustace Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Eustace means "steadfast" in Greek. This song gives me hope. I found that their maturity on this album has elevated them to a whole new position. |
