The Decemberists – Of Angels and Angles Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Breakfast: "According to tradition, in the 6th century Pope Gregory I is supposed to have seen some beautiful blond-haired and blue-eyed children in a Roman slave market. He asked after their background and was told they were Angles (one of the northern germanic tribes who gave their names to England), his reply to this was "Non Angli, sed angeli" - "Not Angles but angels."" I think that this fits just right with the song. The Pope saw something beautiful within these people who were just viewed as a tribe. Something ordinary. The song is about finding beautiful things withing things that seem ordinary. It is a love song. Read "If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things" by Jon McGregor. It is a beautiful novel discussing that same thought. |
The Decemberists – The Crane Wife 1 and 2 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
When I first looked over the lyrics, I thought it was a metaphor for a lonely boy, who found a heartbroken girl, took care of her and nursed her back to happiness, then became greedy and wanted to control her, then she left him.. But the Japanese folk tale works better. Ha. |
Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The fact that this song has over 1,000 comments alone shows how powerful and amazing and hard and beautiful and painful it is all wrapped in one. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry over and over again when I listen to it. It's just so painful but it's just so glorious you want to come back for more. Maybe like love. |
Blink-182 – Aliens Exist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hey- thanks for that majestic 12 link, I've always wondered about that. I love the live version on the MTATS" hahaha. I love the breakdown during the bridge too. I listen to this song over and over again just to hear it. |

Blink-182 – Blew Job Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh Blink 182... they were never out there to try to prove a point or start a movement, they were just there to party, be immature and have a good time doing it. For all of you who wasted your time ripping on these past pages, get over yourselves. You don't matter to the people who love Blink 182, and you're not making a difference. |
Explosions in the Sky – The Long Spring Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Explosions in the Sky and Angels and Airwaves have the same effect on me. They make me want to change the world. |
Explosions in the Sky – To West Texas Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Where is this from? |
Explosions in the Sky – Day 2 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love how the guy giggles after the vocals. It just makes me smile whenever I hear it. |
Blink-182 – Story of a Lonely Guy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song was my anthem when I was in JR high school. All I would do when I got home was listen to this song. It felt good to know someone felt how I felt. But it still sucked to know I was all alone. I was like Holden Caufield. So alienated from my youth, but unaccepted by adults. I guess times haven't changed much since then. |
Blink-182 – What Went Wrong Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have been a Blink 182 fan since I was about seven, and I haven't heard fully heard this song until today. It was on as background music on the Urethra Chronicles II, when Mark says, "We'll be best friends forever". I wept. I miss them so much. Blink 182 was and still is my favourite band. |
Blink-182 – Mother's Day Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh blink 182... |
Blink-182 – Don't Tell Me It's Over Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"most girls get in trouble because they are rarely honest" this is so true. some girls need to get over the whole highschool drama thing. i hate it. |
Blink-182 – Dick Lips Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I was listening to this album in the 2nd (3rd?) grade. Changed my life forever, for better or for worse. This was one of my first favourite songs. Blink, I miss you, miss you. Please come back. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Every line in this song just drains me a little bit, but then the ending swells and fills me up again. It really is beautiful. I love how Tiny Vessels leads into Transatlanticism, and Transatlanticism leads into Passenger Seat. |
Sanctus Real – Alone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I never thought it to be a worship song, even though I'm a Christian. I think that when they wrote the song, they meant it to be for one of their girlfriends. So when the guy was out on tour, the girl could know that if he could he would 'fight the tides' to come home to her, and she can listen to the song to remind her that he loves her. Yeah, that's me spelling the song out. |
Sanctus Real – The Fight Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I got this CD for Christmas a couple of years ago, and just never really listened to it until now. It really is a great album over all. And a great song. I have to admit, my favourite part is the repitition of the 'shu' sound in the chorus. "I don't really want to cry over issues Wet tissues stick to my shoes." Yeah : ) |
Joshua Radin – Winter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"I could have lost myself in rough blue waters in your eyes" So beautiful. Even though he's ripping off Simon and Garfunkel in some songs, I still love this song. |
Brand New – Missing You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the veteran analogy. And the Van Gogh analogy. My two favourite parts. |
Angels and Airwaves – The Adventure Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is the song that I'll be listening to when I graduate. It'll be the song I listen to when I leave home. It'll be the song I listen to when I fall in love. It'll be the song I listen to when I get married. When I have my child. When I die. It's so perfect. So big. Like the beginning of something real big, and your almost afraid to start. But you do, because it's apart of life. It makes me want to be alive. |
Bright Eyes – When the Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The title of this song reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. I don't know why. It just does. I love the piano in this song. Beautiful, beautiful. Conor is extraordinary. |
Bright Eyes – A Spindle, a Darkness, a Fever, and a Necklace Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Near a sea of pianos There were waves of chords That crashed against the shore In one huge and useless roar And there were girls bringing water Like a dream they came To cure the fever of my brain And soothe my burning throat" I just really love those stanzas of the song. It just hits me right in the chest, knocking the wind out of me almost. There is just something really different about the song And I love it. |
Bright Eyes – A Spindle, a Darkness, a Fever, and a Necklace Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I absolutely love this entire album so much, and this song is such a great beginning to it. I didn't know what story the excerpt was from, but I'm glad you guys did. I'm going to get a copy of that book for my friend- he's a wicked big Bright Eyes fan. |

The Used – Liar Liar (Burn in Hell) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
subconciousxcure- I like the way you think. |
The Used – Liar Liar (Burn in Hell) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Cheisu- I disagree with you, being a Christian, and even if my faith is not what you believe in that doesn't make it right or wrong, and certainly not a lie. I am sorry that you personally have been persecuted by Christians, but I can assure you that not all Christians are like that, I myself being one. And I also can understand your pain because I am persecuted constantly because of my faith. to the point of being beaten up and having my stuff completely destroyed. People question my beliefs everyday, especially my opinions on evolution and the creation of the world. Also, I don't know where you live or anything, but normally when Christians and missionaries are going out and spreading the 'good news', they tend to begin with God's love rather than the 'turn or burn' thing....It just really bothered me and I had to say that. |
The Used – Liar Liar (Burn in Hell) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Anyways, this song (as 'childish' as it is to some people) is about the Gerard/Bert feud. Sorry. But it's as clear as day. The first verse, talking about pills and booze (what Gerard was addicted to and quit). Certain parts remind me of religion, and it in part might have to do with the priests raping the alter boys. Or the hypocrisy of the Catholic church. I dunno.... |

My Chemical Romance – This Is The Best Day Ever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I absolutely love this song, and am confused why I haven't commented on it until now. There are so many things about this song that I love it's ridiculous. It is definately one of my favourite songs of all time. It' short and sweet, dark but having this inner glow to it. It's so simple yet so complex at the same time. The lyrics astound me, knowing that Gerard wrote the majority of them the morning of recording the song during a car ride to Dunkin' Doughnuts. So so good. I don't even have a favourite line. I love everything about this song. The end. |
My Chemical Romance – Sister to Sleep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think the originally posted lyrics are closer than the reposted ones. |
My Chemical Romance – Our Lady Of Sorrows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Gracias, babyshakesme. |
My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I know, I know, this song is about suicide. But it definately tells a boy-girl love story as well. An unrequitted love, if you will? Every time I hear the line 'I held you close as we both shook' it reminds me of something sexual. It's not that my mind is in the gutter or anything, it's just what I think of. With that in mind.... I think this song is what Gerard said is was about: suicide and this girl who took slutty photos with her boyfriend (whom he loved) back in highschool. Possibly, he did things of a mature nature with this girl, and possibly, she was just using him. And possibly, she broke off their relationship. And possibly, he was not okay afterwords, although he told everyone he was. And possibly, he wanted to kill himself. But this is just all a possibility. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Take Me Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love love love this song. It is so good, so sweet, so mellow. James's voice is so soothing. I listen to it over and over again just because it makes me so calm. To me, it's just about wanting to be loved by someone, and finally telling them, just pleading with them to love you back. So beautiful. |
Good Charlotte – The River Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I used to listen to Good Charlotte, but all I can say is that I'm glad that I don't anymore. This song has blatent rips offs of both The Used's songs and My Chemical Romance's songs. What the heck, man. If you can't write honest music that comes from the heart, then step out of the buisness. I am so sick of these bands recycling music over and over again. I understand that I'm going to get a lot of crap for posting this, but it needs to be said. Good Charlotte was original, but they've just become like everyone else. They were once something that stood out, but they are nothing now. They're just trying to cling onto any fame that they had. It's pathetic. |
My Chemical Romance – Our Lady Of Sorrows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hmm...very good song. Bu I was curious....If immortality doesn't mean never dying, then what does it actually mean? Intresting line, I just don't get it. |
Saosin – Bury Your Head Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You know, the new Saosin wouldn't be so bad if they didn't water down Anthony's old lyrics. When I heard this new version of the song, I got wicked irritated. No me gusta. |
The Dresden Dolls – My Alcoholic Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
When I first heard this song, I didn't know the title, and I thought she was sayinbg " my Uncle Horlicke's friends" and I was really confused, because who the hell who Uncle Horlicke be? But then I saw the title and everything kinda clicked together. Yay for self-explanitory song titles! |
Straylight Run – Another Word For Desperate Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I absolutely love love love love love this song. It's heart-breakingly beautiful. It's obviously about Adam and John's 'relationship', as many people have pointed out already. But it reminds me of my own past situations. A friend being addicted to drugs and alchohol, and the other person just becoming so fed up with their bad decisions. This song makes me want to cry everytime I listen to it. It's epic. |
Joshua Radin – What If You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Why has no one else commented on this song? It is so beautiful, so heart-breaking. I absolutely adore it. |
Park – Conversations With Emily Lyrics | 17 years ago |
No, antennas, I don't think that what it's saying. I think Emily was this girl who loved Ladd unconditionally, and he never really saw it. She always reassured him and said things to make him feel better, and when this other girl broke up with him, she wasn't any diffrent. |
Number One Fan – Don't Say Anything Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I really, really like this song. It's pretty obvious what it's about. Boy dumps girl half-heartedly. Boy realizes he made a mistake. Boy goes back to girl. Girl doesn't want boy back. Boy is sad. The end to this emo story. |
Number One Fan – Make The Cut Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Why does this song have only one other comment on it? It is so phenominal. I love it so much, it makes me want to cry. I think this song is about a relationship that went sour, and he's just remembering some of the good parts, and seeing how things went wrong. She wants to fix things, but he 'doesn't have the time' and assures her that she'll eventually 'let it go and be just fine'. So so so good. More people should listen to this band. |
Number One Fan – There Went The World Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I absolutely love this song, and Number One Fan. It's definately about how people (namely, boys) take advantage of girls sexually. For some reason, this song breaks my heart. I love it. |
Straylight Run – Tool Sheds and Hot Tubs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is the exact opposite of what muscko04 said, and that this song is about how Michelle doesn't want to be with Adam, and how Adam wanted to be with her. Maybe in response to 'You're So Last Summer'? I think people may be looking too deep into the placement of 'Toolsheds and Hot Tubs', and I just seen them as where they may have had sexual relations. yeah. I personally don't care for this song or Michelle's voice on this song. It's way too poppy. She's alot better on 'Now It's Done'. |
The Used – Handsome Awkward Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I find it's sad that The Used have sunken to the level of bashing their old friends. Buisness and friendships in the music industry should stay seperate, you know? I am all up for people expressing themselves when they have something to say, but when you're just bitching about a falling out...come on. |
Saosin – Mookie's Last Christmas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I absolutely love this song, lyrically and musically. Although it's short, it's so powerful and so beautiful and says so much. It's seriously amazing. |
My Chemical Romance – You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is very self explanitory. When Gerard was writing the lyrics for it, he was holed up in the attic, not wearing many clothes, and watching pornography. I dunno how this strange and perverted process helped him write the song, but that's how the story goes. The song meaning itself is pretty simple. The narrator got arrested during a gunfight at a restaurant, and ended up going to prison. He was raped by his cellmate (who was allegidly a killer) and I guess they ended up falling in love, and he was questioning his sexuality. A lot. And ends up decieding that it's ok to be gay! Yay, Gerard! Be proud of the rainbow! Anyways, I don't know if that's the exact analysis of teh story, but it's certainly mine. And I know for a fact that was how they came up with the song lyrics. And Gerard's not really gay. |
