The Tragically Hip – Nautical Disaster Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is creepily amazing. I don't know how else to put it. The lyrics are frighteningly visual, and the aggression of the music and guitar just adds to the dark sense of the song. The way the song ends off with a quiet guitar riff just adds to the total sense of eerieness. Very well melded song between the lyrics and tune.

And yes, there is no doubt about whether this song has references to the battle of Dieppe or not - TTH said it did, so it does. What else could a Canadian band talk about that is even close to this?

Atlanta Rhythm Section – So Into You Lyrics 17 years ago
Great, unknown, underrated song. The bluesy guitar is addictive.

Chi-Lites – Oh Girl Lyrics 17 years ago
Great song, love this original version way better than the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes version (this one is way more laid back). The meaning is pretty straightforward.

Eagles – Lyin' Eyes Lyrics 17 years ago
You gotta love The Eagles. Not only do they have great lyrics that flow, they are able to shape the lyrics into a tune that is just as great as the lyrics. Both the music and the lyrics in this song convey the passion and hurt in this song.

You know a band is really good when they make music like this.

Coldplay – White Shadows Lyrics 17 years ago
Anyone notice how the end of this song seems to have the same sort of tune as "The Scientist"?

Maybe it's just me, but when the tune changes it sounds so familiar and I actually had to go back and listen to A Rush of Blood to the Head to find which song sounded similar.

The Guess Who – Share The Land Lyrics 17 years ago
I heard somewhere this song was about drugs (it is a psychedelic era song), but I can only see this in the last part of the song. Anybody know for sure?

The Guess Who – A Wednesday in Your Garden Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't believe no one has posted anything for this song. Definitely one of the best songs by the GW. There is so much passion in Burton Cummings voice, but why? I'm trying to figure out what the the song is about, but can't think of anything (what is the garden?)

Any ideas?

The Beatles – Rocky Raccoon Lyrics 17 years ago
You have to be a really talented artist to make up a song like this with lyrics that tell a story that actually makes complete sense, while making good music at the same time. The Beatles and The Eagles (Lyin' Eyes esp.) are the only two bands that come to my mind with lyrics and music with a story of this quality.

Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics 17 years ago
As soon as the guitar kicks in, it brings so many memories to mind, good and sad alike. I just heard it on the commercial for World Trade Center, and I can see why it would be a great theme song for that movie. Makes me even want to go see it.

Neil Young – Helpless Lyrics 17 years ago
Just to get the record straight:
Neil was born in Toronto, moved to Omemee while still young, his parents got divorced, and he moved with one of his parents to Winnipeg (Manitoba) out on the prairies (the subject of his newer album, Prairie Wind), where he lived for much of his younger life.

Anyway, this is a great song. Brings back memories of travelling up north to the beautiful Ontario countryside. You can really relate to Neil's inspiration for writing this song.
