Damien Rice – Coconut Skins Lyrics 17 years ago
I completely agree with etterstonoelle's view of this song. That makes complete sense. I want to quote you on this:

You are most likely not having sex with her to become enlightened

It makes me giggle.

Damien Rice – Once I Loved Lyrics 17 years ago
I heard this song for the first time yesterday, its really beautiful.

DR encompasses the entire fucking spectrum of emotions, and does so openly (as compared to the stereotypical male...) Here we see depth of love and affection.

I've alwasy been impressed with him. :)

Damien Rice – Accidental Babies Lyrics 17 years ago
Iagree with last goodbye. I feel like the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. An emotional state that most of us have been in at one time or another.

"I held you like a lover..."
They loved each other, perhaps it wasn't right... but they gave it all they had. Stolen moments, maybe. I relate to this song in that I understand the parts of the song where he's questioning her-- Did you loveme, do you think of me, still? Do you remember all the little things.. And then to anger, or rather bitterness, Do you even cum together, does he make you feel half of what i did... One phrase sticks out in my mind " Does he drive you wild, or just moderately free?" Obviously, she drove him wild. I feel like the majojrity of this song is him asking her why it wasn't enough. Why their love, their sex, their intensity wasn't enough to bind him to her.

KT Tunstall – Black Horse and the Cherry Tree Lyrics 17 years ago
In response to loop-to-loop's comment about KT being a perv-- its not her who makes her songs perverted, b ut how her audience interprets them.

Josh Groban – Canto Alla Vita Lyrics 17 years ago
Life is both cruel and gracious-- it encases everything from every spectrum of emotion. "Tragic beauty" Like when a mother dies in childbirth-- the babe is healthy and in good shape, but will never know the warmth of his mother's arms. I believe this song is about accepting life for what it is. Its not going to all be peaches and cream, but we are alive and we should celebrate that.

The Dresden Dolls – Bad Habit Lyrics 17 years ago
THis song reprents a myriad of things to me. Mainly the recogonition (sp??) that people don't care. They'd rather be wrapped up in their petty lives caring about worthless things than be compassionate or to reach out and actually care. This song, to me, spits in the face of all the two faced do-gooders who ask so convincingly "why didn't you tell someone" I mean... its hard not to notice slashes on wrists, or large bruises. The harsh truth-- most people would rather worry about if their ass looks big in their jeans rather than worry wheter or not a frazzled friend is slowly killing themselves. . .

The Dresden Dolls – The Jeep Song Lyrics 17 years ago
I too have always thoguht this to be a very funny song. It just made me cackle. Because *we all do this* Amanda and Brian have an amazing ability to communicate so clearly w/ their audiences.

The Dresden Dolls – Missed Me Lyrics 17 years ago
its common is such that people get taken advantage of, and are manipulated. Its really common for a guy to screw a girl--a naive girl, given-- and for the girl to assume he loves her. Theres a saying, "Girls need a reason, guys need a place." A lot of girls consider physical relations to be the manifestation of love. Then she wakes up, realizes the bastard just wanted sex... and is angry.

The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics 17 years ago
Amanda's dark humor is everywhere. The greatest thing is that she doesn't spoon feed the meanings of any of her songs to her audiences. You actually have to stop. and. think.

The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics 17 years ago
In resp9onse to ChonChonBickay , i totally agree. I think she's wishing for a relationship where she is in complete control. A relationship with an off button.

Nickel Creek – The Lighthouse's Tale Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is very ineteresting. It begins with the personification of a lighthouse into being a keeper's best friend. Perhaps this could signify that the keeper valued his work over his relationship with his love. As both the dominant role in a relationship, and his job as a lighthouse's keeper-- his job was to protect and save, yet come the focal point of the song (his love's death) he could do nothing as either her lover or the lighthouse/guardian. That one failure could have set him off the edge, realizing that he coudln't save the one person who really mattered. For a while when i listened to this song, i coudln't understand the line "and off the edge of me he ran" I coudln't hear the words properly. Today whilst listening to this song, that clicked and i got so choked up. What a great story.

Within Temptation – Restless Lyrics 17 years ago
alot of WT's songs centre on betrayal. Only this song seems to revolve around somone else (You're the ghost haunting through her heart" Perhaps a double betrayal, looking back and wondering if it was worth it. Worth it or not, she cannot deny that she needed and still needs him.

Within Temptation – Caged Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song is about the ultimate betrayal. Not only the sexual betrayal--rape-- but about the robbery of innocence. Her world has gone from beautiufl, full of colors and song... to being caged in her own conflicting emotions. The song then changes after revealing about this treachery asking is tehre anyone out there who is worth it? "Is there someone out there who will not betray and hurt me?"

Within Temptation – It's The Fear Lyrics 17 years ago
She's faced soemthing that has had a larege impact on her. For something so full of rage, and anger-- it must have been horrific and hard to overcome. Perhaps she thought she overcame it, but with each passing month she realized that there is no overcoming it... no escaping it. I think the song begins about an internal personal struggle then moves outwards. We're all afraid of what lies in the darkness. More than anything, we are all terrified of becoming that which we hate.

Damien Rice – Then Go Lyrics 17 years ago
The version by wastrel is the one I have. This song is the epitiome of the relationship where one side gives, gives, and gives and finally realizes that that is all there is, perhaps ever was. The song (in this version) ends with an affirmation of how strong the love they had was-- that there wasn't anything they woudln't have given... if only their love would have returned an inch.
