This song is just brilliant and one of my favorites off the new album. The way the seemingly unrelated sets of lyrics play off each other is great, especially in the little moments like when they both say "cover my eyes" at the same time. Try listening to the song using headphones sometime, but take one of them out to isolate only one of the Johns (then do it the other way around).
Anyway, it seems to be about two distracted drivers who are about to crash into each other at the end of the song. Very TMBG - upbeat music, dark but funny lyrics |

I always thought that the first two verses were people outside the wall yelling in at hiim. Maybe one voice is his mother and one is his wife or something, or its just his friends, thats not important, its just people who care for him.. Then the last verse is Pink yelling back. Thats what makes the most sense to me. |

I just finished listening to Wish You Were Here myself. I don't see how you could say its too short, its only 3 minutes shorter than Darkside of the Moon.
This song was gonna be one side to the record, but it got too long so they split it up and put it at the beginning and end of the album. This part is excellent but Im gonna have to jump on the bandwagon and say that I like parts I-V better. Still, Shine On You Crazy Diamond should be thought of as one song and the whole thing really is just a rock masterpiece. |

Yes Lizzy is his wife. Elizabeth Kweller, and this song is about her. Alot of personal life references are here too. For example, the line "we will wake when kitty licks" is about a cat they have that comes in their room and wakes them up in the morning. |

I dont have time to read the 70 comments already posted, but to me this song is clearly about Colin Meloy(or whoever the narrator of thsi song is) taking someones virginity. "I laid you down in the grass of a clearing/You wept but your soul was willing"
When they both "go down" it is morally, not in suicide. Their souls fall to temptation together. |
