Project 86 – Soma Lyrics 14 years ago
Soma goes hand-in-hand with a poem in Schwabs book 'We Caught You Plotting Murder'.

Swallow This...It Will Make You Feel Better

"You've got a disease that there is no known cure for. We have run the appropriate tests and found alarming conclusions. This is a very troubling circumstance. But what is more troubling is how you developed this condition. It seems that due to constant exposure to the dangerous realities around you, this extremely rare virus has infected you. I am afraid there is no known cure. On top of this, the disease is extremely contagious as well."

Perplexed as usual, I had to ask, "What is the disease?"

The answer: "An unyielding hunger for the truth, a passion for the people around you, and sorrow for those who still lie in darkness. To put it plainly, you have a heart. We must amputate immediately."

Sick Puppies – White Balloons Lyrics 14 years ago
Perfect example of how a song should progress from soft and quite to heave and loud and back again.

Sure. And the moon is made of cheese. Just read ~dreamer~'s post above.

Flyleaf – Whats This? (Nightmare Before Christmas) Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree that the tempo is much too slow for the song. Doesn't capture the sense of discovery and excitement.

Shinedown – Lady So Divine Lyrics 15 years ago
Going to have to agree with mpude715. I have always taken Lady So Divine to be about LSD and not a person.

Shinedown – The Energy Lyrics 15 years ago
It's definitely telling people to life their own life while living in the moment. Don't listen to anyone else because they don't know who you truly are.

Also, Brent's voice is simply amazing for this song.

Shinedown – Call Me Lyrics 15 years ago
"I might be the only one, but i like Us and Them more than the Sound of Madness, the two albums are halfway different genres" - Garret

I think Leave A Whisper was a great debut album to get their name out there, Us and Them was where the band grew lyrically, and Sound of Madness is where they have found their 'sound'.

I can't wait for the 4th album where they combine everything.

The Exies – Once In A Lifetime Lyrics 15 years ago
The Exies version definitely turns what (in my opinion) is a fluff song into something meaningful.

It is hard to compare the two simply because the difference in musical style, so I think of them as 2 different songs that happen to have the same lyrics/

My favorite on the 1st listen. I agree with pedro.b about it being about making a decision black and white instead of shades of grey.

Hellyeah – You wouldn't know Lyrics 16 years ago
I take this song as follows: Person A and Person B start life on an even plane. Person A gets all the breaks through life and doesn't need to work for anything they have. Person B gets all the shit handed to him and works their ass off just to get by. The song is saying that Person B could easily live like Person A but wouldn't want to while Person A could never live like Person B.

Mudvayne – King of Pain (The Police cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
An amazing cover song. Reminds me of Shout2000 by Disturbed in that it takes a well established 'cult' hit song and keeps the best parts while adding the metal edge to push it over the top.

Project 86 – My Will Be A Dead Man Lyrics 17 years ago
I can see why people have said what they have said, but I have a different thought on this song. The last verse:

I'm not talking 'bout killing a man
I'm not referring to dirt, this land
There's no showdown here besides the one
That's erupting inside my head

makes me think that this song is about coming to grips with yourself and doing what needs to be done to help the people around you instead of doing things to only help yourself.

I guess you can maybe somehow think it was korn since it was the first time you heard it...but you must not know korn all that well either. Listen to more Nonpoint and korn and come back.

Chevelle – One Lonely Visitor Lyrics 18 years ago
I think I will play it safe and agree with everyone on this...I cant figure it out to the point I feel comfortable saying 'I know'.

One thing I find a little strange tho is that everyone likes this song or even thinks this song is one of the best acoustic songs there is. I agree with them when they say that, but it does not hold up to Shinedown's acoustic cover of Simple Man or even their acoustic 45. But back to the strange thing, a lot of the reviews for Wonder What's Next say that this song is its worst song and should not have been included...kinda odd that a song so loved by the fans is so hated by the 'experts'.

Chevelle – Get Some Lyrics 18 years ago
I just want to say Chevelle is better than stooping to the level of writing a song inspired by American Idol. Now, that that is out of the way, this song IS about drinking. I read something on the bands site about how for the first month or so of writing for 'This Type Of Thinking' all they would do was sit around and drink themselves to sleep every night. One night they ran out of alcohol and this song was the product of it.

On a side note - I think this is where the album name came from as they were thinking that they would never get an album done by thinking the way they were (drinking every night was a good idea) thus the name This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)..

Finger Eleven – One Thing Lyrics 18 years ago
I read through most of everyone else's opinions about this song, and I can see where most of the boyfriend/girlfriend interpretation of the song comes from. But that doesn't do it all for me. I see it as a religious song even though I myself am very non-religious.

I think this is about a person who can't sleep/go on in life because they realize that they lost their faith 'wasted the light' during some point in their life 'between both these times'. They never fully lost faith 'really thin line' and it wasn't something that they planned and they go on to want to restore their faith 'you should be mine across that line'.

I take these next few lines as the person saying that there is one thing that they would give their faith away for 'give it all away for one thing', but they can't find what that one thing is 'if I sorted it out...wouldn't that be something'.

Now the person is saying that this time they haven't found the one thing that is what will cause them to lose faith but they aren't saying they will never find it.

Here is where they figure out what the one thing is 'even though I know' but they don't want to know it cause it means they are losing faith 'I just hate the how it sounds'.
